Tim Buckley is on one of my Pandora stations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 10/3/16 2:13am pacific standard simon:

The one with Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake.
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:13am Nick:

Haha Jeff, I googled and found a blog post you wrote about that Folkways record six years ago! "Upon reading the extensive notes in the original LP I discovered Ms.Moskowitz was a student of Ragas of South India's featured vocalist and Gottuvaydyam player Gayathri Rajapur and contributes tamboura with Harihar Rao rounding out the ensemble on percussion" Cool! http://avantghetto.blogspot.com/2010/04/ragas-from-south-india-folkways.html
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:13am highclassfuckup:

passed out for a bit, woke up to this one
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:16am P-90:

One of those songs where he sounds like an unholy hybrid of Harry Chapin and Mickey Dolenz. In a good way, of course.
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:17am Kafuka:

A silent thank for the show from Italy
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:19am Mark R:

I actually saw Tim Buckley playing on an episode of "The Monkees" a couple of months ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 10/3/16 2:23am pacific standard simon:

This reminds me a lot of early Hot Tuna.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/3/16 2:26am joeray:

Tim Buckley played on the same set that Frank Zappa and Mike Nesmith used the previous week, complete with the car that Zappa played/demolished in the background.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 10/3/16 2:29am pacific standard simon:

That Monkees episode was part of the final run of episodes, where they gave each Monkee the last few minutes to do whatever he wanted. I believe Buckley was the choice of Peter Tork.
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:29am P-90:

I forgot all about Tim Buckley in the Monkees TV show. Gonna have to catch up with that one.
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:30am Bill Mumy:

Me too! That's worth digging up.

"Song To The Siren: Tim Buckely (live on The Monkees) 1968"
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 10/3/16 2:33am pacific standard simon:

You want a really insane Monkees episode, find the one where Liberace demolishes a piano with a sledgehammer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/3/16 2:35am joeray:

I think Buckley was Mickey's choice. The Monkee's episode is titled "The Frodis Caper" and is available (on YouTube!) with the version featuring a Mickey Dolenz commentary that is hilarious! A bit of the Beatles Good Morning, Good Morning is featured at the start of that episode!
Avatar Mon. 10/3/16 2:39am Jeff Conklin:

Have I told my Monkees story?
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:43am Nick:

The silence must mean no. Please do tell :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 10/3/16 2:46am pacific standard simon:

That does sound like Mickey introducing Tim.
Avatar Mon. 10/3/16 2:52am Jeff Conklin:

Out of time. Remind me next week
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:52am Nick:

NOOOO ;
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/3/16 2:55am joeray:

Danger, Will Robinson!
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:58am P-90:

Good one, JC. Catch you on the flipside.
Gotta hear your Monkees story
  Mon. 10/3/16 2:58am Bill Mumy:

Me too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/3/16 2:59am joeray:

Me three!
Mon. 10/3/16 3:00am Colonel Zachary Smith:

Oh, pish and tush with all this blather.
Monkees indeed. Their Neilson ratings were not terribly consistent, you know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 10/3/16 3:00am pacific standard simon:
