Morning, Marty. I got a good feeling about today's show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am steveo:

Perfect rainy morning. Temperament = restored.
  9:08am JakeGould:

Avatar 9:15am Roberto:

Oh boy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Ike:

Unpopular opinion: Quantum Leap was bogus! No monsters? No aliens? Basically no interesting villains at all? Never going into the future? BORING!
  9:17am JakeGould:

@Ike: Can you say something nice about episodic television for once, please?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am Ike:

Sure. The Incredible Hulk was awesome sometimes (mainly because of Bill Bixby). And MacGyver... well, it was often overrated, BUT it was SUPER awesome to have a hero who didn't use a gun and did clever brainy stuff to get out of scrapes.
Avatar 9:22am Wild Neil:

PEACE all,..STILL an out of work Mechanical Engineer near Buffalo NY....Northern Exposure was a pretty cool show....as was Barney Miller. and Taxi.
Avatar 9:23am Wild Neil:

NICE segway...
Avatar 9:25am Wild Neil:

Sounds like Peter Gabriel had a kid with Joy Division....I guess this is Depeche Mode? Pureto Rico Flowers, huh? Pretty cool!
  9:29am Ver:

Love the music!
  9:30am JakeGould:

@Ike: That's good! But no love for Magnum P.I.?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Guido from Cologne:

Hello Marty!
Avatar 9:32am Cheri Pi:

Th' Shriek!
  9:33am famous original italianicewolf:

@JakeGould: did you see they are planning on rebooting Magnum? And it's going to be about his daughter.
Avatar 9:37am Sem Chumbo:

Morning, Marty, and all.
Kickin' it, hard.
Avatar 9:38am Wild Neil:

The signal is breaking up, or the CD or record is on the interweb....it was a minute ago...all that's missiing is Killing Joke playing "Eighties". Signal died...is it me??
Avatar 9:39am Cheri Pi:

coming in loud and clear on the pop-up
  9:40am JakeGould:

@sugarwolf: I don't pay attention to reboots but I've generally found them to stink. Wonder who is going to be T.C.?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am Planet Tyler:

Marty, I think you might be the most eclectic DJ on WFMU. Which is quite the feat.
Avatar 9:41am Joshua Fried:

Shriekback, SoM--just the kind of music at the center of the new book by Tim Lawrence - Life and Death on the New York Dance Floor, 1980-83 which is out TODAY if i'm not mistaken
  9:42am famous original italianicewolf:

@Joshua Fried: I really want to read that book!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am steveo:

@Wild Neil: no signal problems OTA in Brooklyn.
Avatar 9:45am Wild Neil:

Pop up works flawlessly now.
Avatar 9:49am Joshua Fried:

yeah, can't wait for the book--there are excerpts online already (sanctioned ones) on FB. I'm *in* it--fleetingly. Many NYC and London events surrounding the book.
Avatar 9:50am Joshua Fried:

His earlier Love Saves the Day was about 1970-79 and thematically centered on The Loft.
  9:54am llid:

holy crap, the oohs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good morning, Marty, stooges, stoogettes.
  9:54am ami ad:

Morning all. Thanks for another good start for the day D.J.Party on
Avatar 9:55am Wild Neil:

Cool a Stooges "Import"!! HEH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am Ike:

Oh, duh, it's "Raw Power", of course. I thought Iggy was singing "Ron Howard" for a second there.
Avatar 10:02am Chris from DC:

Aw, missed Shriekback. Always liked them.
Avatar 10:04am Cecile:

Neil, opera fans have bootlegs they don't call bootlegs. They call them "private recordings" That was a Stooges "private recording"
Avatar 10:05am dale:

not the same thing, but....

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morning, Marty & all!
Avatar 10:06am Sem Chumbo:

Lovely Loretta.
Avatar 10:08am Sem Chumbo:

Kickin' the shit now, Marty:-D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am steveo:

Oh please let this country codependents set last forever.
Avatar 10:09am dale:

google quantum leap gummybear phone and tons of stuff shows up
Avatar 10:10am Wild Neil:

@Cecile: Wow, they are so classy. That's a hoot. A "private" recording.
Avatar 10:10am cee:

this is probably the most freeform program on the station
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14am Passaic River Blues:

@cee - Easily.
  10:16am Don S:

Avatar 10:21am Cecile:

I asked an opera loving friend, "is this an opera bootleg"? He hemmed and hawed and said it kind of was but the artists tended if not encourage them, tended to look the other way.
  10:27am JakeGould:

Recording your privates.
Avatar 10:28am Polyus:

Oh man, Marty, I found an OG copy of Palmieri's 'Harlem River Drive" a couple of weeks ago at a store here and about hit the ceiling. But then I saw the $40 price tag and said "aw crap" out loud. I guess that is a pretty good price, but still too rich for my blood.
  10:37am Brendan:

Marty I love your show- every week . Its always different yet familiar. Keep doing what you do and don't change a thing , unless of course you do- in which case, do that instead.
Avatar 10:41am Rev. Turnip Druid:

  10:46am Will:

Ditto what Brendan just said. I was about to write something similar but he did it for me!
  10:46am lloyd michigan:

Polyus, what is an OG copy?
Avatar 10:48am Polyus:

Just shorthand for an original pressing.
  10:49am lloyd michigan:

I see. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54am Passaic River Blues:

I am loving this set.
  10:56am Brendan:

Motion to rename Zimbabwe Bob.
  10:58am dug:

what is the background record marty plays?
  11:01am Brendan:

( ps for Marley, not Mugabe )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am Passaic River Blues:

@dug - I can't remember. It's familiar. Westside Connection?
Avatar 11:06am Marty McSorley:

above the law - black superman
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06am Greg from ZONE 5:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Ken From Hyde Park:

This day in history, 1955, was James Dean's last ride.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Passaic River Blues:

Oh yes of course! G-FUNK ALLSTARS. Sorry.
Avatar 11:34am PKNY:

Going in "Rhime of the Ancient Mariner"? Marty must need an extended bathroom break.
Avatar 11:36am Marty McSorley:

i was planing on playing powerslave or 2 min to midnight. but then i was like naw let this shirt rock. i always play the other 2
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Ken From Hyde Park:

I hope that Egypt's new capital they're planning to build south of Cairo has a pyramid with Eddie just like that album cover.
Avatar 11:38am Polyus:

Even back then I thought this was a truly bizarre song.
Avatar 11:39am PKNY:

There was a dude in my neighborhood that had his high school art teacher paint the Powerslave cover on the back of his denim jacket. So gnarly, wish I had a picture of it.
  11:39am Brendan:

It seems Coleridge poetry inspired at least two songs - the Mariner and Xanadu
