Happy organ sounds to start my day! Thank you Liz B!

Greetings folks and welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Liz. Did Matt leave you with sufficient snacks or beverages today? Or just piles of crumbs and empty cups strewn haphazardly?
  12:13pm Listener142985:

what a great starter set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Liz Berg:

Aw man, I missed the snacks! All I've got is a lousy glass of water!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm chris:

Bass be pumpin' ... wooHooo.
Avatar 12:28pm Jeff:

I recommend that people find an opportunity to listen to this Cyrus track on a system with serious bass abilities. Just sayin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm Mark the Sardine:

Great set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Liz Berg:

Any other songs out there that mention "courgette"?
Avatar 12:33pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Courgette? A large cat native to central america which can be casually smoked at social gatherings?
Avatar 12:34pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

also: hello.
Avatar 12:34pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Little Red Courgette. Probably wouldn't want to eat that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Mister Dobalina:

Darn, I that courgette was a slick term for a petite, older man chaser. I like em both.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Mister Dobalina:

Bad typos and grammar, sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm mariano:

There's Colin the Singing Courgette: www.youtube.com...
  12:36pm John Courgette Mellencamp:

What now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm mariano:

And Tim Curry singing "The Zucchini Song" www.youtube.com...
Avatar 12:37pm Jeff:

Is it Brit for zucchini?

I remember running across references to "mangel-wurzel" in some Wodehouse books and being all, wha?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I vaguely remember eating at a restaurant that offered courgette dressing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm mariano:

Yeah, it's Brith for Zucchini. Just like aubergine is Brit for eggplant. I learned about courgettes when cooking with some British friends years ago and I mentioned how my recipe called for zucchini, and they gave me one of those looks such as only Brits can give Americans!
Avatar 12:44pm Flower5000:

A wee bit late to the party, but now that I'm here ... it sounds so swell! Hello Bergians and Liz! You all RAWK!
  12:46pm melinda:

I can see how zucchini would sound funny if you're accustomed to courgette.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Tome:

Allo allo !
Avatar 12:48pm Cecile:

yeah, the Brits use the French words, but pronounce them their own way.
Avatar 12:50pm Cecile:

I can't say why, but all of a sudden, I want to hear "Eminence Front"
Avatar 12:50pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

I feel like I am in Galaga loop with this song. Oddly enough, there is a Mormon temple here in San Diego that reminds me of a Galaga double shooter. www.lds.org...
Avatar 12:51pm Cecile:

right on, Jennique. Galaga was the best.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm common:

robots! hello
  12:53pm sinuendo:

great show, Liz!
Avatar 12:53pm Cecile:

got silver apples?
Avatar 12:54pm Cecile:

love the Todd modulation right there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm mariano:

Yeah, right, @ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:? Some Mormon architecture has a definite sci-fi feel to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

A couple of my college pals knew of a way to jam a penny into the coin return slot of the Galaga machines and play games essentially for free.
Avatar 12:58pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

@mariano - totally! Did a drawing of it too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Liz Berg:

love the spaceship art, Jennique!
Avatar 1:01pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm mariano:

@ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ - that's great, love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm mariano:

It's pronounced courjette!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm mariano:

Bloody Yanks!
  1:11pm PatrickP:

Yes - soft G!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm common:

ah, drugs.

Avatar 1:22pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

@mariano - I lived in St Louis, Missouri for a short while. You would cringe at how mid-westerners pronounce some of the french named towns there. For example, Creve Coeur is pronounced "creeeeve core"
Avatar 1:23pm Cecile:

yep! We Upper Midwesterners also mangle ferrinn languages purty bad, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm mariano:

Oh, I've lived in the Midwest too -- Omaha, to be precise. I kinda like how each part of the country has its own local mispronunciations you have to learn to blend in. Norfolk, NE, for example, is pronounced Norfork, and Beatrice is Bee-AT-triss. French names always get the worst of it though: Des Moines, Detroit... And, in my home state of Louisiana there's a town called Natchitoches -- three guesses as to its phonetic pronunciation!
Avatar 1:28pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

@Cecile - I was so obsessed with learning french in high school and getting my pronunciation right. If I said those town names in proper french while living there I would have been so laughed at!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Michael 98145:

there is an arrogance in ignorance
Avatar 1:30pm Cecile:

I know! Same thing with me and Spanish for a while.
Avatar 1:30pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

@mariano - Oh boy, I don't even want to guess on that one! I lived in Concord, Mass and New Englanders have their own language too when it comes to town names like Worcester, Peabody, Maynard. I had a professor in college from Maine. HO boy, was it hard to understand him!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm mariano:

Trying to imagine how Peabody can be anything but Peabody! Natchitoches is pronounced (not kidding) "NACK-kuh-dish." It's kind of famous as the town where Steel Magnolias took place. But yeah, the deep New England accents are really something!
Avatar 1:37pm Cecile:

I've heard it as Peh-beddy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If anyone can pronounce this town in central New York state, you're a better pronuncer than I am: Skaneateles. I have no idea where to begin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Michael 98145:

sounds like a ska band :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm mariano:

Oh wow, Ken, no idea. NY state has some great ones: Shawangunk, Ronkokoma... and Peh-beddy, that's weird!
  1:42pm pierre:

It's been quite some time that I haven't hear rock played like this. And I must say its actually quite refreshing.
  1:42pm el BO-bO:

I am loving everything you are playing Liz. I havent had a chance to go to the FMA page yet nut I hope to do so this week. Great music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Liz Berg:

Thanks guys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Ken From Hyde Park:

FWIW, some helpful Australian listener pointed out the other day that "Chook Race" is pronounced like "Book Race." I was pronouncing it like "Fluke Race" before that.
Avatar 1:46pm Cecile:

Yeah, it's chook like took. It's a chicken!
Avatar 1:47pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

The way I heard Peabody was "peeBUHdee" and here I was pronouncing it like Mr. Peabody and Sherman. cdn.ultraswank.net...
Avatar 1:49pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Worcester = "wuhSTUH"
Maynard = "mayNID"
Concord = "conKERD" or "conquered"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Michael 98145:

fun set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Linda Lee:

perfect set! thank you!!
Avatar 2:04pm Whooda:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Michael 98145:

Six Degrees has some interesting releases
Avatar 2:12pm Whooda:

Thanks Michael 98145. As a young boy Sophia Loren was my first crush, I noticed something stirred within and I was eager to grow up and share it...whatever it was- sexual realization or Italian style or both.
Avatar 2:14pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

September 20 should be Zoo Be Zoo Be Zoo day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Goatpuncher:

Signed VU, produced them, and then interviewed them? Wow, bit of a conflict of interest on Wilson's part? That surely wasn't non-commercial radio.
Avatar 2:18pm Whooda:

Socrates said, "To be is to do" Jean-Paul Sartre said, “To do is to be” Sinatra said, "Do be do be do".
  2:21pm PatrickP:

Alan Licht has saved music for an entire generation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Michael 98145:

about that Nick Cave release : www.last.fm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Jeezy:

Heeey Liz! LOVING the show... But why can I not find the song "12 Ate" on the Henry Kaiser LP you list?
Avatar 2:30pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Is this Charlotte Gainsbourg?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Liz Berg:

ah hell, the tracklist is all outta whack!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Jeezy:

Oh no! In the time that has passed since you played that track I had a sizable portion of my estate diverted to Henry in honor of a track designated "12 Ate." To undo this will require tremendous effort and expense! :-/ Why, Liz, WHY?!?!!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Liz Berg:

@Jeezy: I figured it out! One of my less-than-careful DJ compadres slipped a different CD into the Henry Kaiser case. WHYYY??? The track was actually by Thor & Friends, and actually titled "12 Ate." Sorry for the mix-up. These people are out to get us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Jeezy:

Oh no! But I was so impressed I purchased the $899 Henry Kaiser box set from Amazon after that amazing track!
Bahaha... JK... Thanks for the clear-up Liz! We shall fight on another day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The DJ was probably distracted by tasty snacks and beverages in the vicinity.
Avatar 2:42pm Cecile:

context-sensitive help is not sensitive or help.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Liz Berg:

I can see that they matched a red CD with a red case instead of matching the words written on the CD and CD case.
Avatar 2:44pm Whooda:

Better check for jellyprints (doughnut filled type) on the jewel case, this matter must be resolved. "No Justice, No More Doughnuts!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm mariano:

Wow, this is a lot like Thee Oh-Sees, love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm GoofusMcNoofus:

Now an Acid Mothers Temple box set would probably be $899 just to pay for materials.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm chris:

muchas gracias, LizB.... fine, fine show ya got here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm mariano:

No way, you are not playing Van Halen!
Avatar 2:56pm Chris from DC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm mariano:

Thanks so much Liz, great show as always, and thanks for chatting everyone, always makes my Tuesdays extra special, always learn something!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Michael 98145:

Thank you again, DJ Liz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm GoofusMcNoofus:

Thanks Liz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:
