Mike! Welcome back!
Avatar 6:03am Mike VL:

Hello, Fred! Great to see you here.
Avatar 6:11am fred:

I guess your job keeps you too busy for a regular slot. Good for you, bad for me...
Avatar 6:20am Mike VL:

Yes, still the case unfortunately. But I'm still trying to sit in Studio A once every few months at least.
Avatar 6:22am fred:

Nice Fahey track with bits of Dies Irae thrown in, though I'm not a Fahey fan
  6:23am Will:

The church'll get you like a case of anthrax.
Avatar 6:28am fred:

I always wondered how Anthrax came to be ranked as one of the big four. I guess having a church helps
Avatar 6:30am holland oats:

Wait a second, I recognize that bed music... can it be?
Avatar 6:34am Mike VL:

Holland Oats! Yes, 'tis true!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Very interesting tracks. Appreciate the fill-in.
Avatar 6:56am Mike VL:

Thanks, Rabbit! Great to see you on here again!
Avatar 6:57am fred:

That OMD track was ruined for me growing up because it was omnipresent in ads
Avatar 6:59am Mike VL:

Oh no! Bummer
Avatar 7:07am Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Mr. Van Laar, Sunday morning listeners. Lurking and lovin' these spins.
Hey, fred.
Avatar 7:09am Mike VL:

Hey Sem! Thanks for saying hi and good to see you again!
Avatar 7:11am Howard F:

Good Morning Mike. Thanks for the Archie Shepp!!
Avatar 7:13am holland oats:

this set is shepping up nicely
Avatar 7:14am Howard F:

@holland oats: Groan!! LOL!
Avatar 7:17am fred:

Hey Sem! Halfway through No Great Mischief, the style is a little ponderous, but having seen that Cape Breton centered performance last year (we have an anchor) helps filling in the blanks. Looks like words are not coming easily to convey your part of the world
Avatar 7:26am Sem Chumbo:

That's a fine observation; the Scots never lost their sense of displacement after they were forced off the land and wound up in Cape Breton---another place of exile, as it is often thought of in Canada.
  7:28am Ladies of the Lake:

It's a dance party over here; you're a hit! The littlest lady says she loves your rock and roll.
Avatar 7:30am Mike VL:

Well thank you ladies. Get down!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30am Stanley:

Och aye, tha' noo.
Friends!
Avatar 7:32am Sem Chumbo:

How about a spot of caber-tossing, @Stanley? Mind your sporran.
Avatar 7:36am duke:

Great set! Thanks Mike
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am Stanley:

Hi Sem. I'll leave that to our Highland brethren. Though, I have been known to enjoy the odd ceilidh (and I do mean odd, as in weird).
Avatar 7:37am Sem Chumbo:

haha!
Avatar 7:38am Mike VL:

Thanks, Duke!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...we could get Rufus Harley for Jazz bagpipes...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am Wynford the Eagle:

Brightening up what is a dreary day here on the jurassic coast in Brexit Land. Loving the archie shepp, and most other things. thanks mike.
Avatar 7:47am Mike VL:

Wynford...thanks for saying so. Glad you're here!
Avatar 7:50am fred:

It was nice hearing interesting Archie Shepp tracks. Over here he's become a boring token of free jazz cred, which makes no sense at all
Avatar 7:59am terribilia:

i like this little background groove
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:02am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Jazz set was good for the soul. If he'd only done 'Love Supreme' - that would be enuff - but geez - Thanks, Rudy.
Avatar 8:08am fred:

I kinda like how Rudy Van Gelder endorsed the digital formats and basically said it was the engineer's job to make it sound good.
Avatar 8:08am Mike VL:

Thanks Rabbit. Agreed! The legendary and even not-legendary, but still high quality recording sessions done there are astounding.
  8:12am Pete L:

Rusty Bryant!? Archie Shepp. oh yeah - thanks
  8:27am Will:

Delectably stoned Euro prog jazz grooves from the 70s doing the job for Pawtucket this mornin!
Avatar 8:30am Mike VL:

Alright, Will! glad to hear it!
Avatar 8:50am Howard F:

Great set! Perfect balance of stuff I know & don't know yet!
Avatar 8:52am Mike VL:

Thanks everyone for saying hello...see you next time!
Avatar 8:54am fred:

I hope next time will come sooner. 3 months is way too long
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57am Smilty69:

First time listener of your show. I really enjoyed it. Hope to hear you again soon.
  8:59am Will:
