Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Liz Berg:

Happy Tuesday, everybody, and welcome!
  12:08pm melinda:

Hi Liz and peoples!
Avatar 12:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@Pete L: Why not? Africa is our Mother - the womb, the heart - it's even shaped like it. As Keef Richards says - the music there just relates to how people actually walk & schtoop...Given the probable death of American exceptionalism, it may well be so.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Tome:

good afternooooon filet sammich ...
Avatar 12:18pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Good morning Lizzners! Digging this Filet Mignon track. Would be fun to have a band called Beggin' Strips. Or Leggo My Eggo.
  12:18pm Ike:

Mmm, good music to go w/kani salad....
Avatar 12:19pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hang On to My Leggo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Liz Berg:

Nice ones, Jennique! Filet Mignon is both a great band name and a great band!
  12:24pm Pete L:

that Filet Mignon reminds me of the Frank Zappa mostly instrumental album "Lumpy Gravy" where it shifts from style to style without warning. me like.
Love all this African stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm chris:

hi, Liz, loving the cut of your jib in this set!
Avatar 12:25pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 12:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm chris:

  1:21pm el BO-bO:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Michael 98145:

@MM, is there still an "alternative" category grammy ?
  1:37pm Chapelhillian:

Doesn't the Sam Coomes sound kinda like Flies on Sherbet era-Alex Chilton?
  1:41pm Pete L:

not a complaint
  1:50pm el BO-bO:

Linda sounds like the female version of the bedt greatest most amazing Spanish band Los Planetas. How do I get a hold of this record? Its pute gold. Amazing pick DJ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Liz Berg:

Here's a link to that Linda Guilala album, el BO-bO:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Kat in Chicago:

It's cute that this Kate Fagan track resurfaced. Takes me right back to my early 20s wearing Amvets finds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Michael 98145:

  1:59pm melinda:

That ice cream truck tune sounds like an old-time hymn.

These meat themed bands are really on point today Liz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Michael 98145:

gotta nice beat, but hard to dance to
Avatar 2:16pm steve:

HUGE YAY for Salami Jr. we grew up together in the same 2 square mile suburban NJ town, were on the same baseball team in middle school, are still friends. his band from the early 2000s "Robocop: The Movie" is one day going to be a massive FMU phenomenon on the level of Sandwich Time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Liz Berg:

@Jennique: glad you noticed!
Avatar 2:19pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Meat the Beatles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Liz Berg:

Can't wait to hear more from Salami Jr, Steve!
Avatar 2:19pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(...ironically all veggies...)
  2:21pm melinda:

I dig Alternate Steps
Avatar 2:24pm steve:

i may buy a copy of the Robocop The Movie (his old project) CD reissue and send it to the station - i told him to send one but dont think he did. their song "New Jersey's Gonna Eat The Brain of the World" is too good to remain unknown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Liz Berg:

Sounds amazing, Steve!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Michael 98145:

@steve, please do
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Michael 98145:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm єki:

  2:39pm Listener142985:

Fruta sounds like machines having a really good time
  2:39pm JakeGould:

  2:42pm JakeGould:

Robot skronk!
Avatar 2:43pm Chris from DC:

Sounds like a drive not booting.
Avatar 2:44pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

There is a bird I saw in Costa Rica called the three wattled bell bird, which would go along well with Pat Moonchy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Liz Berg:

Just before playing that robot damage track, one of the studio computers suddenly refused to play any sound... the machines are indeed revolting!
Avatar 2:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Bird video!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Liz Berg:

I wanna start a band with that robot bird, Jennique!
  2:47pm Pete L:

is that like sex fucks? funny
CRAZY!! award winning show today miss
  2:49pm Pete L:

you have great FMA curating acumen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:50pm Liz Berg:

Thanks Pete L!
Avatar 2:50pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Yes, I'd love to get that bird on stage. His long mustache would win the ladies. Get some howler monkeys up there too. They are jet black but their testicles are white. They look like chicken eggs. They have a great sound too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Liz Berg:

Howler monkeys make some amazing sounds. Otherworldly. The guy from Senyawa gets pretty close actually.
  2:54pm JakeGould:

I like the hippie wailing of Corozones Service. Peg those meters!
Avatar 2:54pm steve:

top notch clang right here.
Avatar 2:54pm Chris M.:

my howler monkey, Thurlton W Wm Howlsworth III, is sick. thanks for the dedication.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Kat in Chicago:

@Liz Amvets was a chain of thrift stores benefiting war veterans that was a popular place for the young, artsy and broke to shop in Chicago in the 80s. Most of the stores still exist but they were bought years ago by a for-profit entity and are now "Village Discount"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Michael 98145:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Kat in Chicago:

Also she mentions Neo and Park West - Neo was a new wave dance club that was open up until a couple of years ago. Park West was a posher live music place, where I saw Culture Club and a very, very young U2. It still exists but books boring music now.
  2:57pm el BO-bO:

Thanks for the link Liz. Thanks for another great show.
Avatar 2:58pm Wild Neil:

@KAT-Amvets is still going strong in Buffalo NY area...found some cool records there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Michael 98145:

muy muchas gracias, DJ Liz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Kat in Chicago:

@Neil nice. It was never the same after they changed ownership.
  3:00pm el BO-bO:

BTW, nerd note: Elefant recs released the first single of Los Planetas titled Medusa. Recommended band.
