Avatar 1:40pm Cheri Pi:

my dad loves Culture Club!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Goatpuncher:

Yup, the Caribbean pirates that cram the FM dial out of Flatbush, Brooklyn (and cause terrible interference to lots of other stations like FMU) often play cheesy soft rock from the 80s! With added air horns and singing along, of course.
Avatar 1:42pm Friends call me Mel:

Background on my phone lol He's always with me.
  1:43pm Cecile:

Goatpuncher, didn't you used to be Ike?
Avatar 1:45pm Friends call me Mel:

Interesting... I live in Flatbush and I don't hear soft rock like, ever. haha It really is the fab reggae 24/7. Added air horns LOLOLOL
  1:46pm Cecile:

Duane, do you have any Green Velvet? One of the weirder funnier ones...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Kat in Chicago:

"Phoneline"! Forgot how much I like this.
Avatar 1:46pm rbxbx:

You all are making me want to move to flatbush
  1:46pm Cecile:

And why the air horns?
Avatar 1:47pm TDK60:

You never know who's going to have different and/or "cheesy" tastes.
Avatar 1:48pm Friends call me Mel:

pheeeeeew pheeeeew pheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew lmao
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Kat in Chicago:

Air Supply with air horns?
Avatar 1:48pm Friends call me Mel:

@ Kat LMAO
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Goatpuncher:

@Mel, do you get a lot of interference to FMU (91.1) from a Haitian pirate on nights & weekends? I bet 95% of Flatbush FMU fans have to listen online now. @rbxbx, it's a pain in the ass actually, unless you want to give up reception of all real licensed FM stations forever!
Avatar 1:51pm rbxbx:

Goatpuncher: I usually have to listen online anyway :[
That said, I am generally a big fan of interference --- but that was before I had quality programming like FMU being interfered with ;)
Avatar 1:51pm Friends call me Mel:

@ Goatpuncher- You know I don't have an amazing amp so I do cheat and stream. I tried WNYU once thru airwaves and got some crazy sh*t.
Avatar 1:53pm rbxbx:

@Mel Yeah, WNYU has a bit more luck making it out here (Bushwick) --- still a ton of interference though. And very temperamental!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Goatpuncher:

WNYU has a crummy transmitter anyway, but FMU would cover southern Brooklyn no problem if it weren't for the slime-weasels at the illegal 90.9 "Radyo Independans".
  1:55pm Cecile:

When are you gonna interview Devin Dare?
Avatar 1:56pm Duane:

cecile: Devin's not that interesting..:)
  1:58pm Cecile:

He's also too modest.
Avatar 1:59pm Friends call me Mel:

The hood can make me smile. The guy who sells reggae records on Flatbush and whatever was blasting Billie Holiday once. It was totally random and refreshing to hear from the norm pheeeeew pheeeew pheeeww
Avatar 2:05pm TDK60:

Seems like the non-political pirates have no etiquette. I think radical pirates usually avoid other stations unless they intend to interrupt. Don't know much @.
  2:06pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm Kat in Chicago:

Good pick

  2:15pm j db:

nice mix, enjoying the tunes a heck of a lot while watching olympics!
  2:16pm Cecile:

Me too! With the sound off. And waiting for those mens swimmers...
Avatar 2:18pm Friends call me Mel:

this track is great for swimming. Like crazy fish coming out of the depths. Swimming is so damn boring.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm Goatpuncher:

@TDK60, I've *never* heard any "radical" or left-wing pirates in English in the NYC metro area. Is that a thing somewhere? Haitian pirates are (I presume) talking Haitian politics all the time (often with calls via Skype full of headache-inducing digital artifacts & echo), but not knowing Haitian Creole, I can't tell if they're radical, but they're definitely interfering.
  2:20pm j db:

well volleyball is still playing here, though this is a very swimmer track
  2:22pm Cecile:

Yeah, here too.
  2:23pm Cecile:

Swimming is amazing. Maybe a little for the swimming part. More for the swimmers part...
  2:24pm Cecile:

It's the girl version of beach volleyball..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Michael 98145:

i love watching all those things i could never do
Avatar 2:25pm Friends call me Mel:

Avatar 2:26pm TDK60:

@ Goatpuncher -- Good question, I don't know about the Jersey City Metro area, never heard a rad pirate here. In other cities, states, yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Michael 98145:

thanx, Mel
  2:27pm j db:

i was hoping for a soccer game to really get into but instead i ll watch 5 different events then lose focus. a nice flowing soundtrack makes it doable to ignore the commercials tho these have been interesting, ie the fix illinois one lol in a great way
