Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from August 5, 2016 Favoriting

Uncle Michael's avatar View Uncle Michael's profile Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Backing up a bit, Poco's Crazy Love might fit on the Yacht Rock satellite music channel. Listened to it a while on a shared ride recently. Driver says at least 50% of tracks have Michael McDonald on back-up or lead. He mentioned the SCTV bit where Moranis as McDonald runs in and out of studio to sing a back-up line at exactly the necessary moment. Minutes later, we heard the song from that bit on the channel, Christopher Cross Ride Like the Wind. Given the period favored by the channel, I knew Ambrosia would also show up shortly and they did.
