PEACE all.
Avatar 9:06am Wild Neil:

The Beginning Of The End sounds like Eric Burdon from The Animals channeling James Brown. This is cool! Where do you FIND this stuff Marty??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am common:

good friday marty, wild neil and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08am Ken From Hyde Park:

Tech advice tip of the morning: If you have computers running Windows 7, today is the last day to update them to Windows 10 for free. It'll cost $120 after today.
Avatar 9:11am Wild Neil:

@Ken-I keep trying to use Powerpoint 2013, but at random times it says something happened and I cannot save. So I must frantically save every ten minutes until that happens. It sucks. I try deleting files from the C>Windows> Temp files but that only works sometimes...
Avatar 9:13am Marcel M:

Morning all. Damn gangsta cover.
Avatar 9:15am Wild Neil:

Willie Colon is cool. The body wrapped in a blanket is just plain disturbing!
Avatar 9:15am pierre:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am JtotheK:

good morning everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am pantz:

That's damn good pie! Morning Marty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17am Ken From Hyde Park:

Sorry, WN. I'm only useful for one tech tip a week.
Avatar 9:18am Wild Neil:

I THOUGHT this was Twin Peaks!
Avatar 9:21am Wild Neil:

WOW this show is all over the MAP! Just the way I like it!
Avatar 9:23am Wild Neil:

@Marty-can you play something from King Crimson Earthbound? I swear that one of the songs is FUNKY....I heard it kinda pissed of Robert Fripp because he didn't know what to do or how to solo with it....
I think the song is Peoria...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am MD:

Good Morning My Freeform Friends....WFMU IS WHY AMERICA IS GREAT!!!!
Avatar 9:27am pierre:

Avatar 9:29am Wild Neil:

Zombi is epic. Reminds me of Massive Attack, but its better!
  9:33am brian from ma:

I wish more synth jockeys would dump their drum machines and use real drummers like on this Zombi track.
Avatar 9:35am Chris from DC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Ken From Hyde Park:

Make America WFMU again!
Avatar 9:36am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Brian: that's a good point, except on tour. Have you seen a real drummer EAT? It's the most terrifying thing in the world.
Avatar 9:36am Rev. Turnip Druid:

also: 'mornin, troops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am doncaballero:

Zombi > John Carpenter is right where my head is at this Friday morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am common:

i've been a drummer on tour, rev. it is horrible.
Avatar 9:40am Marcel M:

@Rev: haha.

Barn Owl is great.
Avatar 9:40am Wild Neil:

@Brian-the real drums are an awesome feature of Zombi, thanks for pointing that out....
Barn Owl is spooky good.
Avatar 9:40am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Maybe it has to do with hauling 12x more gear than everyone else. But the eating thing is.......
  9:40am brian from ma:

Rev. Turnip...yes I have been on tour with drummers. Some of them are almost human, you know. The floor of my car is still stained with coffee, beer and peanut butter from one guy I worked with.
Avatar 9:41am Polyus:

I kinda thought the drummer was overplaying on that Zombi track. Agree that it is cool to use live drums for that type of music though.
Avatar 9:42am Wild Neil:

@Brian-the real drums are an awesome feature of Zombi, thanks for pointing that out....I don't think he was overplaying...I thought he balanced things out nicely like the drums in Joy Division....
Barn Owl is spooky good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am common:

i'm with you rev. disgusting.
Avatar 9:43am Rev. Turnip Druid:

I'll say it is a definite technical challenge though, to combine synth sequencers/arpeggios with a live drummer. The monitor situation has to be perfect, and those conditions never occur live. So.... much respect to Zombi.
Avatar 9:43am Wild Neil:

I used to share a house with a drummer and other Dead cover band musicians...he could also play acoustic guitar and was into making his own underground comics...David Maxwell from the Mexican Mud band....
Avatar 9:43am Chris from DC:

They have always been spot on when I've seen them. Fantastic opening slot for Goblin.
Avatar 9:44am Marcel M:

@Rev: If you are in a band that uses full stacks, the drummer does NOT carry the most stuff ;-)
Avatar 9:46am Rev. Turnip Druid:

MIDI triggers on the drums to clock the sequencers maybe? ... eh.. sounds expensive..
Avatar 9:47am Polyus:

That would be my guess, Rev.
Avatar 9:47am pierre:

weirdly the only musician I hang out with is a drummer, the POWER VIOLENCE kind, and he is the archetypical vegetarian gentleman. The only thing is that he walks incredibly fast…
Avatar 9:48am pierre:

also : HEY REV. !
Avatar 9:48am Wild Neil:

@Rev-drums triggering it then?...interesting!!
Avatar 9:48am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 9:48am Cecile:

he's got things to smash, pierre.
Avatar 9:48am Rev. Turnip Druid:

...and this effing Oscillation!
Avatar 9:49am Wild Neil:

Avatar 9:49am Cecile:

marty, if you have access to Green Velvet, that would be awesome. If not, just keep rockin it, dude.
Avatar 9:50am Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am sphere:

hey folks. OMG where has The Oscillation been all my life?
Avatar 9:51am pierre:

that and two kids Cecile :)
Avatar 9:52am Cecile:

yeah, that'll do it. wow, cool dad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am maestroso:

Yeah man, this synthy, psychy stuff is doing the trick!
Avatar 9:54am Marcel M:

Th' Youth!

Avatar 10:24am Wild Neil:

Fresh guacamole with raw onions...and corn. Its awesome with corn chips!
Avatar 10:25am Wild Neil:

@Marty-seriously, check out Peoria by King Crimson, live...its very bluesy...or jazzy I guess...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26am JtotheK:

whoa, this track by The Whips...cool exotica!
Avatar 10:27am Wild Neil:

My wife tells me "yes, master" sometimes...she can be very sarcastic...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am JtotheK:

*and apparently originally a 45 on the Dore label...gonna have to seek that one out!
Avatar 10:31am Cecile:

what a voice! he sounds like a Spanish Frogman Henry
Avatar 10:32am Sem Chumbo:

Love the singer! And that surf-y guitar.
Avatar 10:33am Cecile:

Is the whole album as fun as this, Marty?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am Greg from ZONE 5:

This one is an all-timer
Avatar 10:33am Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am pantz:

Has a kind of Anarchy in the UK feel
Avatar 10:34am Wild Neil:

The weird chattering sounds I think I read on a discussion board here is actually a jug being blown on....run through some echo effect? Correct me if I'm wrong....
Avatar 10:35am Cecile:

I know there are other bands that are more important, but the Elevators just SPOKE to me. They might be my favorite garage-era band.
Avatar 10:37am Cecile:

Neil, that is exactly what it is. Repulsive human being Tommy Hall is redeeming himself by blowing a great jug.
Avatar 10:39am Wild Neil:

@Cecile-repulsive? Was he into underage girls or something?
Avatar 10:40am Cecile:

No, he fed his bandmates acid without them knowing and is a horrible racist and sexist person. Roky Erickson has spent years in and out of mental hospitals dealing with the aftermath of LSD.
Avatar 10:41am Cecile:

I love the Elevators, but know that their greatness came with a terrible cost.
Avatar 10:42am Chris from DC:

Psych salsa. This is cool.
Avatar 10:43am Cecile:

I have to get this someday. everything I've heard is great from this.
  10:46am Fred:

is this Rush?
Avatar 10:48am Wild Neil:

@Fred-this is Rush if they came from Kyrgistan and were raised by wolves....Rush is a gateway drug to great prog rock and Free Jazz if exposed to WFMU early enough...
Avatar 10:49am Cecile:

they're Swedish Fugazi.
Avatar 10:49am Cecile:

Now that's a band name
  10:49am Fred:

Right on Wild Niel... it was the more orchestral parts.... this is awesome and MR McSorley is a master!
Avatar 10:51am Cecile:

svensk fugazi
Avatar 10:51am Cecile:

I want to see the late night commercials for "Head Wound City"
  10:52am Stevel:

Cecile: perfection.
Avatar 10:52am Whosondephone:

This is insane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am steve:

Avatar 10:52am Sem Chumbo:

Wiggin' out now.
Most excellent!
  10:53am Stevel:

Astounding set.
  10:55am Stevel:

My brain is throbbing in the best of ways.
Avatar 10:59am Cecile:

I get it.
  11:01am Brendan:

This show has set a sasifyin tone that will stand me well through this day. Thank you Marty.
  11:03am Fred:

what's worse Reaganomics or Trumptronics?
Avatar 11:03am Chud:

Anyone heading to the Troma film festival in Willliamsburg tonight?
Avatar 11:03am Wild Neil:

"The leaders are thugs
So that's why we got slugs"
Or something...this is cool!
Avatar 11:03am the Canterbury wood-elf:

serious lyrics!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Barney Grubbs:

I was just thinking about non-phixion this morning. who the fuck is carl sagan.
Avatar 11:04am the Canterbury wood-elf:

the pagan ate falafel with Menachim Begin
Avatar 11:05am Wild Neil:

Oh, this is topical right...after 35 years Hinkley is being completely released...even though he has narcissistic personality disorder or something similar that is not possible to recover from (according to the Reagan institute...)
These lyrics are gold....
Avatar 11:05am Wild Neil:

and he's gonna live with his 90 year old mom....
  11:07am Stevel:

Sounds like a setup for Psycho II.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Barney Grubbs:

a lot of hinckley heads still live with they moms
Avatar 11:08am Cecile:

I'm kind of surprised myself. Maybe it's because he just wounded him. Even Arthur Bremer (George Wallace's assassin) got out.
Avatar 11:10am cee:

where you never been in i'm

great set marty!
  11:14am Greg from ZONE 5:

Dammit, Marty you're doing it again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Mister Dobalina:

I like the Black Seep.
Avatar 11:16am Wild Neil:

Clickly star for Black Sheep. This is cool.
Avatar 11:19am Chris from DC:

And another for Delta 5.
Avatar 11:20am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Have been re-embracing the 1981 sound, lately. You can spot it a mile away. Interesting year..
Avatar 11:20am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Also, the Charisma label. Double-whammy.
Avatar 11:22am Wild Neil:

@Marty-VERY Freeform radio show. Wow!
Avatar 11:23am Cecile:

It's kind of brittle, isn't it, Rev?
Avatar 11:27am Wild Neil:

I tried clicking on the Japanther image and its blocked as "piracy-suspicious".
Avatar 11:32am Wild Neil:

The Numerators album cover is disturbing for a number of reasons....
Avatar 11:33am Rev. Turnip Druid:

1981: brittle.... that fits. Brittle electronics; so-called "new wave" was still creepy-weird, still had some dark corners. Clean yet weird.
Avatar 11:33am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 11:33am Chris from DC:

Avatar 11:34am Wild Neil:

@Rev-Liquid Sky (1982 or 3) was ALSO New Wave...and very dark!
Avatar 11:36am Cecile:

bass out front, for sure
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Michael 98145:

whoa. don't think i've ever heard Them do that
Avatar 11:40am Wild Neil:

@The Room-what is the darkest New Wave song ever written?
I'd love to hear Black Sabbath cover this Troggs song...its so heavy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am pantz:

Double De La Day!
Avatar 11:50am Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am pantz:

But 3 is the magic number
  11:51am Jeffy Jazz:

Marty! Killin' it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am JtotheK:
