good to finally hear you again, diane!
Avatar 12:04pm V Priceless:

hey DK and comm!
  12:04pm coe:

'ello folks
  12:05pm Polyus:

Cheers Diane! Let's pour some out for Sandy Pearlman. . .
Avatar 12:05pm Doctor Rembrandt:

Hello from San Francisco!
Avatar 12:05pm Marcel M:

Sick lead tone.
  12:06pm coe:

very excited to hear from the boys of Dgeneration today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm chris:

hello, Diane and rawkers (from north of SF)
Avatar 12:06pm Cecile:

aw, damn
Avatar 12:06pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Interesting. My old Line 6 bass pod has that setting; or something close; never heard it in the wild before.
  12:06pm Polyus:

Egypt are from North Dakota. I find that pretty cool.
Avatar 12:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

synthy bass laser bees.
Avatar 12:07pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

A little bit of PePe today!! Jessie and the Boyz! Oh Yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm chris:

how do you guys stay warm in the cold ND winter? we RAWK!! \m/
Avatar 12:10pm Cheri Pi:

Let's partay
Avatar 12:12pm Doctor Rembrandt:

Hi Chris. How is Lagunitas? OK everyone. I'm 10 miles north of San Francisco. I use it as a reference point but Chris and I are representing WFMU in the north bay.
Avatar 12:13pm Cecile:

I feel as annoyed that 1) BOC have mended their fences as I do that 2) GBV is playing shows again. 1) they're not the same without Alan Lanier, 2) stay broken up! I went to your damn farewell tour.
Avatar 12:18pm fred:

@Cecile: get over it. A friend didn't graduate high school because the exam came on the day of the last ever Rolling Stones tour. Ever. For Real. That was in 1990.
Avatar 12:18pm Diane Kamikaze:

Sometimes it's just not the same, Cecile!
  12:19pm Listener142985:

william powell was so charming; he will never die
Avatar 12:19pm Cecile:

I'm over it. That's my explanation of why I disapprove of and am not sponsoring these endeavors. Then I can move on with a simplified BOC and GBV free life. The old records are still great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm coe:

I always thought this would have made a great late 60s Who song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Stevel:

  12:21pm Listener142985:

now just need a song that references myrna loy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm coe:

Sleeping with the TV on that is
  12:21pm Dean:

Are all three of these last tracks Sandy Pearlman productions?
Avatar 12:22pm Doctor Rembrandt:

I love Joe Strummer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm chris:

Hey, Doc! Its great. Hot days, cool nights. Paradise. :-)
Avatar 12:22pm fred:

This is the real deal
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm drr:

I will say I saw BOC in a hot parking lot in 2004 or so and they were excellent (I do think Allen Lanier was with them). Then I had a funnel cake and saw Clarence Carter in the shade. It was like a day of shows made for me.
Avatar 12:22pm Doctor Rembrandt:

Great Chris, you've got all those trees to keep you cool! I rode my bicycle past their a couple of weeks ago.
  12:23pm ledzeppelinsucks:

the producer of Give em Enough Rope died a couple days ago
Avatar 12:23pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

Your Gonna Get it!!
Avatar 12:23pm Cecile:

yeah, that's why she's playing it.
  12:24pm Polyus:

Heh, I attended the last Kiss tour ever. In 2001.
  12:25pm Dean:

Oh, shit. Pearlman died, and in Marin County, no less.

I met him after this album. He signed my copy and dedicated a Clash tune on the radio to me: "To Dean, the world's greatest Clash fan."

Avatar 12:25pm Cecile:

I saw them twice right around then, drr. Alan Lanier was with them and he added so much. He doesn't get as much credit as Buck but his guitar playing made a lot of songs.
Avatar 12:25pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

The Generation! Little Capitol Offender for PePe?? :)
Avatar 12:25pm Cecile:

that is so cool, Dean.
  12:25pm ledzeppelinsucks:

Miss Cleo died yesterday hope we can hear some of her
Avatar 12:26pm V Priceless:

yeah, sadly Roye Albrighton checked-out yesterday, too..for anyone trying to keep track of this insane year...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm coe:

So psyched to see D Generation Saturday. By the way if anyone is in NJ area and is interested they are doing an in store at Vintage Vinyl in Fords NJ Play and sign.
Avatar 12:27pm Cecile:

he's up in prog heaven with Sherman Hemsley, VP
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm drr:

Also Jack Davis.
  12:29pm Dean:

Albrighton?! Ugh. What a bummer.
Avatar 12:29pm V Priceless:

@ C - good point...I like that concept.
  12:29pm Polyus:

Liz B. actually worked in a little Miss Cleo tribute the other day.
Avatar 12:30pm Cecile:

I can see him dancing to Chris Squire and Keith Emerson jamming up there in his George Jefferson suit.
Avatar 12:31pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm common:

too good, cecile.
Avatar 12:32pm V Priceless:

yeah, what common said
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm coe:

Is that just Jesse singing?
Avatar 12:51pm V Priceless:

Avatar 1:11pm MenfussMike:

how did D Gen like touring with KISS?
Avatar 1:13pm Tito "Pepe" Infidado:

Hey Danny PePe says "Get off the Box!"
Avatar 1:15pm Chris from DC:

That's awesome Vintage Vinyl is still there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm coe:

@chris yeah they do some pretty high level in stores
Avatar 1:24pm MenfussMike:

Gene wants ALL the puss
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm coe:

Is the set list going to include stuff from all albums?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm rsj:

did he just slip in a ron jeremy reference?
  1:26pm Polyus:

Melvins were on a portion of that Kiss tour as well - from what I hear, they threatened to boot them from the tour because some of the Melvins guests were laughing at Kiss from the side of the stage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm coe:

Wait did DK just let out a little insider info there? :)
Avatar 1:30pm Diane Kamikaze:

Shush, coe!
Avatar 1:30pm Diane Kamikaze:

Sorry @Coe, I didn't see your last question - one I meant to ask but ... I guess we'll see!
Avatar 1:30pm MenfussMike:

@Polyus i saw THE MELVINS for the first time open for KISS in Memphis. The arena was sold out. During the Melvins set, 12 people were standing up, 7 of which were in my row.
Avatar 1:30pm Cecile:

Mr. Kamikaze, Missus DK!
Avatar 1:31pm tonyb:

brief article about off-stage musicians
playing with, among others, KISS

ht/ brother gottschalk
Avatar 1:32pm Cecile:

I wish Kiss took themselves as seriously as Lemmy did, which is not at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm coe:

@diane don't be sorry I'm sure it's going to be great no matter what
Avatar 1:36pm Cecile:

great article, tonyb!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm coe:

If any one is actually interested in what the true dichotomy of Kiss's structure is I suggest you check out Paul's book. You come to learn that GS is pretty much a public face for Kiss and the real boss is pretty much PS
  1:36pm Polyus:

@Cecile - that's what is so strange. Like how can you take yourself so seriously in makeup and platform boots?
Avatar 1:38pm Cecile:

then Mr. Stanley has a lot to answer for.
Avatar 1:40pm MenfussMike:

yea cool article tonyb.

oh and Peter Criss's autobio was the best of the original four, unlike his solo album
Avatar 1:41pm tonyb:

those shoes ain't easy

ht/ f.x.o.
Avatar 1:43pm MenfussMike:

@ coe I got tired of reading about Paul's fucking ear in his book
Avatar 1:44pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm chris:

that Lithics cut was killer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Michael 98145:

what chris said
  1:48pm Dean:

Blast from the past, Rubber City Rebels. Heard them at the Starwood in 1979 with, I think, The Plimsouls.
Avatar 1:49pm Doctor Rembrandt:

I like this!
Avatar 1:49pm Cheri Pi:

What M98145 said Chris said
Avatar 1:52pm Chris from DC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm coe:

@menfussmike yes I defiantly get where you are coming from on that. I do have to admit I always saw Paul as pretty boy feeb the book did add a few more dimensions to his character (good or bad)
Avatar 1:54pm Chris M.:

"We love you Eazy!"
"I love you too!"
  1:55pm Polyus:

Anyone seen CCR Headcleaner before? I know they have been played on WFMU plenty. They are in my town tonight, trying to decide if I wanna drag myself out on a school night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm coe:

@polyus is there a better alternative?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm coe:

Has anybody heard anything about Killing Joke tour? I'm still smarting from this years canceled
  1:58pm Polyus:

Not within stumbling distance, coe.
Avatar 1:58pm Doctor Rembrandt:

I thought this was Killing Joke although I don't think I've ever heard this song before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm coe:

@polyus then I would say what the hell and go.
  1:59pm Polyus:

I am a sucker for the chorus riff on this KJ song, even though they run it into the ground.
Avatar 2:00pm MenfussMike:

@coe, but yes I do agree...Gene maybe the face of KISS, but Paul kept it all together. Read Peter's book if you haven't. That guy was a maniac. I loved his story about Ace and the telescopes and doing coke all night with Belushi then them going to Grand Central Station during the morning rush
Avatar 2:01pm fred:

As a kid I had some trouble telling KISS and Killing Joke apart. I was young. But I kinda see how I could get confused
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm drr:

Running a riff into the ground is what KJ is known for....not that that's a bad thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm coe:

Peter's is the only one I have not yet. I will have to get right on that. I'm on a big music bio kick (although I'm sure if I'm ever not) I'll have to loop that one in
Avatar 2:07pm fred:

@drr: not a bad thing at all. I'm older and arguably wiser now. But I understand my younger self anyway, both were over the top, as far as I could tell
Avatar 2:10pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 2:10pm Luna:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm common:

Avatar 2:10pm Cecile:

I was going to say, Fred, they both can sound really good, but if you think about them hard, they're both pretty dumb bands.
Avatar 2:10pm Cecile:

Avatar 2:10pm fred:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Voivod! !! !!!
Avatar 2:11pm PKNY:

Avatar 2:12pm fred:

@Cecile: but then Voivod kicked in. It happens, I know
Avatar 2:15pm Cecile:

gonzo here has pretty good enunciation for a death metal singer
Avatar 2:16pm Chris from DC:

Loving this Ghoul. new to me.
  2:18pm Polyus:

Touring with Carcass right now. Apparently they put on quite a show.
Avatar 2:18pm V Priceless:

has there ever been a band called the 'Fun Ghouls'? If not, there should be....
Avatar 2:20pm Cecile:

I saw Gojira were playing Myth. I was so sad. I am never going there again.
Avatar 2:20pm fred:

@V Priceless; that's your band name, now you just need a band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm Mike East:

I had friends in a Misfits cover band called the Fun Ghouls...sorry
Avatar 2:24pm fred:

@Mike East: bandcamp or it didn't happen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm common:

can't wait to hear that band, vp
Avatar 2:25pm Chris from DC:

Oh shoot, Carcass is down this way Sunday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm chris:

desk mosh!
  2:30pm ?:

getting closer... howsabout some blessed death?!?!?!?!?
Avatar 2:31pm fred:

@VP: I think the name's yours
  2:34pm Polyus:

We get skipped by a lot of tours up this way.
Avatar 2:40pm Cecile:

Carcass opened for Slayer at a horrible show at Myth.
Avatar 2:43pm Chris from DC:

Were they both horrible?
Avatar 2:44pm fred:

@Cecile: glad you checked in again. For a while I was afraid you'd make my teenage self look smart. That would have been awkward
  2:44pm Polyus:

That place is a drag. Suburban strip mall hell.
Avatar 2:47pm Cecile:

it's horrible. And it could be great.
Deliberately horrible sightlines. really expensive beer. Awful security.
Avatar 2:50pm Chris from DC:

Ah, so the venue.
Avatar 2:51pm fred:

@Cecile: I submit. My teenage self had it all: cheep beer, lax security
  2:51pm Listener142985:

wow, that snapped me back to wakefulness. thx
Avatar 2:52pm V Priceless:

cool Who cover...thanx for the rock, Diane!
  2:52pm Polyus:

And I am sure security was extra cranked up that night. The reputation of Slayer fans precedes itself.
Avatar 2:53pm Cecile:

fred, I wouldn't trust those losers to protect me. It took them hours to get people through the security line. A joint like Excel or even First Avenue was way more professional and quick.
Avatar 2:54pm Cecile:

Slayer shows are ugly and horrible. I saw way too many Nazi tattoos for my comfort.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Michael 98145:

those aren't just henna, either
Avatar 2:54pm Chris from DC:

Avatar 2:56pm Cecile:

I got run into more times than I can remember. Everyone was over 6'5". My 6'3" friend had to stand on his tiptoes. We saw like one and a half songs by Carcass and left halfway through Testament. We'd gone for Carcass. Bah.
Avatar 2:56pm fred:

Slayer fans? I all too often have to deal with soccer fans. These guys will have metal fans running for their mothers.
  2:59pm Polyus:

I believe you, fred, but Slayer fans really are a whole different beast. Way more psychotic and jock-ish than your average metal fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Michael 98145:

Thanx, DJ Diane
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm chris:

Thanks, Diane! Woot! Love taking it out on Farflung!
Avatar 3:03pm Cecile:

the hardcore lunatic fringe Slayer fans are kind of hardened and feral.
Avatar 3:03pm Cecile:

and great show, Diane!
