Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Hi all.

OK we are unscrambled now. Everybody comfy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm doctorjazz:

Very cool, this David Linton set.
  2:17pm David W & Ruth:

Linton is doing this full out tomorrow at the Guggenheim but we think it is sold out (though they hold some tix at the door)
Avatar 2:28pm geezerette:

Love that this sounds like an old film projector launching into space.
Avatar 2:29pm geezerette:

Enjoying this. :)
  2:30pm David W & Ruth:

Yes! And these sounds really do drive the video images so in many ways it is just what you say!
  2:44pm David W & Ruth:

For every click or snare hit you hear, an old fashioned incandescent light bulb flashes somewhere on stage.
  2:58pm David W & Ruth:

Bloodbath has a good website and her band is called Verge of Bliss. This is her solo and yes, she uses the magnetic field of an electric drill on her guitar pickup in the third song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Ike:

I just tuned in and misread the artist name as "Devendra Bloodbath" for a moment, and instantly, before I heard the music, thought, "Devendra Banhart transitioned to Norwegian black metal so slowly that I barely even noticed."
  3:12pm David W & Ruth:

That's a good one. We sympathize.
  3:14pm David W & Ruth:

I was wrong. This one, the fourth one, has the drill. Fabulous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm listener james from westwood:

Will have to go back and listen to the whole thing, but there was something on NPR this a.m. about Ridgewood in which Trans Pecos was mentioned, and I thought of y'all.
  3:17pm David W & Ruth:

Ruth says it is about Horse Lords (a great band) playing there soon. I'm hosting them on Clocktower Radio this Friday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm steve:

ha, same ike
Avatar 3:21pm geezerette:

This is good music to work to if that work is solitary and meditative in nature;which mine is at the moment.
I'm a Ridgewood Radio fan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm listener james from westwood:

Oh, excellent! Have only heard them via radio (of course, WFMU) vs. seeing them live but enjoy them quite a bit.
Avatar 3:23pm geezerette:

(hey james!)
  3:31pm David W & Ruth:

Have to wonder what drawing would come from geezerette while listening to gaiamamoo.
  3:47pm David W & Ruth:

The Gaiamamoos say they love this recording, one of the best live shows, which made us blush, and we choose to believe them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm listener james from westwood:

Howdy, geezerette! Agreed on the type of work (copyediting from home right now). It goes perfectly.
  3:49pm David W & Ruth:

James, you have a unique brain. Hooray for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks! And thanks also for today's show, you two!
  3:59pm David W & Ruth:

Thanks to all of you all out there, we really appreciate the feedback! And goofy observations!
  2:28pm bicamRL:

nice segue from pat to the water people!
  3:05pm bicamRL:

wow really well put together show... lotsa un- anticipated crosstalk among these artists... almost feels like a zeitgeist or something...
