Hi, Charlie and nothingers. Funny to hear C. talking about Polish workers. I am busy doing something, packing and planning for a month in Poland that begins next Tuesday. As I have mentioned elsewhere, Mrs. Parq is taking a teaching post at the Univ. of Lower Silesia in Wroclaw. (Feel free to look it up.) We will spend a week in Warsaw, and then I will spend three weeks in Wroclaw (Mrs. P will be there for four.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Parq:

i had to figure out where i knew "the penguin" from, because i didn't think i'd ever heard the whole thing.
soul coughing sampled it in "disseminated".
i'm glad i finally heard it all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Charlie:

ßrian -- sustenance is necessary. The kofta cart is why there are archives.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Parq:

I love that Soul Coughing track -- the transition from Raymond Scott's fluttering instrumental to 'Bastian Steinberg's roaring bull fiddle is just gorgeous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Gary:

Great voice on this woman
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Charlie:

Parq -- agreed
Gary -- haunting, yes.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Charlie:

Michael -- here it is :)
Henry -- me too -- it would be a good song to croon with the Hoof 'n' Mouth...
Avatar 1:28pm Sarah N:

I thought this was William Shatner at first, tee hee.
Avatar 1:28pm Peter N:

OK...fair eniough...I'll break silence too. That Ikue Asazaki was amazing. I bet Gary was wetting himself!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Gary:

Peter! Pretty much, yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm doctorjazz:

I've gotten to like Mel Torme over the years (maybe because I'm getting old...), Jonathan Schwartz convinced me he's a fine singer.
Avatar 1:30pm geezerette:

It's like William Shatner if Shatner could sing. :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm coelacanth:

i must return to the humidity and earn some money. Thanks Charlie. 'most Excellent.
tchau peeps
Avatar 1:31pm Jeff:

I've got a soft spot for the ol' Velvet Fog.

And I did find it charming that he agreed to do Zaz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Parq:

Mel Torme is like William Shatner if Shatner could sing. Uh, ok, I think I have to sit down. Oh wait, I am sitting down.
Avatar 1:31pm geezerette:

See ya coel.
Avatar 1:32pm Peter N:

Charlie played Shatner's version of 'Common People' a few months ago. The definitive version, I reckon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Charlie:

Howdy, Jeff. It's easy to get wrapped up in the velvet fog.
He can really wrap himself around a song, but sometimes he can get a little self-indulgent. Really works on Zaz.
Avatar 1:34pm Sarah N:

Fair comment geezerette! Mel sings even better than the Shat...is how I'd put it :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm doctorjazz:

The Shatner "Common People" is just great, definitive to me!
  1:37pm Listening Out There:

"little self-indulgent" = Understatement!
Avatar 1:37pm Sarah N:

Does that make the Shat The Velvet Frog?
  1:38pm Listening Out There:

Shat The Velvet Frog is an intestinal disorder...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Parq:
