Maybe it's just such a nice day to take a vacation and hit the beach, take a hike or bike ride kind of a day? I know I am tempted.
Avatar 9:33am Wild Neil:

Its finally raining here during a drought.

MLK said:"

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?
Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.
The time is always right to do what is right.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope."

Avatar 9:45am Wild Neil:

Great set.
Avatar 10:03am Cecile:

Avatar 10:05am Wild Neil:

Avatar 10:07am Cecile:

I think this is a tipping point. Even people who support the cops are outraged.

  10:11am karen eliot:

these tunes are comforting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am Polyus:

Last night I attended the vigil and march for Philando Castile in St. Paul. It was pretty humbling to see his mother, sister, cousin, and girlfriend all get up and speak to the crowd, less than a day after he was murdered. I would not blame anyone in their situation for sequestering themselves at home to mourn, away from the media. But they were there, speaking loud and clear. It was amazing to witness.
Avatar 10:13am Cecile:

I wish I were there, poly. I am glad you were there.
Avatar 10:13am Cecile:

It's still nearly bringing me to tears two days later, and I'm a pretty emotionally reserved person.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16am Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks for bringing their story here, Polyus.
  10:17am Brendan:

You cant fool me
Avatar 10:18am Cheyenne:

Thank you so much for this show today.
Avatar 10:22am Cecile:

everyone is hurting. Wow, I just heard about Dallas. Even the cops are hurting. And my transit union brothers and sisters.
Avatar 10:25am Wild Neil:

I just wanted a Pepsi....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25am tallbuildings:

Ill echo what everyone is saying: this is all really great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27am Ken From Hyde Park:

This freaking guy. Just a Pepsi? That's it? That's all that matters to him?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am Greg from ZONE 5:

Thanks, Marty. Exhibit A for radio still being the best medium.
  10:37am AgentPeter:

Avatar 10:46am Cecile:

that institutionalized song was my entire teenage life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47am JP from KC:

Hey Marty, everyone. I think most of you were here for the shorts/sandals discussion the other day, so you'll get the reference... I'm wearing flip-flops... at work. That is where I'm at with this day/week. Today's show is a much needed pick-me-up, though. Thanks, Marty.
Avatar 10:47am Cecile:

I'm wearing very nice sandals. Klassy ones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49am melinda:

I like that Saul Williams image, it looks like he's at the helm of a futuristic vehicle.
Avatar 10:50am Cecile:

that Black Heat album has the best and simplest cover.
Avatar 10:52am Wild Neil:

@Melinda-I think I have seen those, they are an Oshkosh fire truck or some such thing...it does look cool.
similar image:www.texasfiretrucks.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am melinda:

It does sort of look like one of those fire trucks. It reminded me of Super Van: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 11:06am Wild Neil:

@Melinda-is Charles Bukowski in that clip??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am melinda:

Yes! Nuts, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14am melinda:

The whole movie is on youtube, I want to see if I can make myself watch it some time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am pantz:

Whoa! This Scott-Heron & Jackson is on fire! Gotta find it.
Avatar 11:16am Wild Neil:

@Melinda-good luck. On IMDB it got one star for the most helpful review of it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am melinda:

A friend of mine made it through the whole thing. I think I'm most interested in whether or not there's more context for the Bukowski appearance but I doubt I could sit through all of it.
Avatar 11:25am Wild Neil:

"Its easy...for you...to...say....that"
We beg your pardon...wow....
Avatar 11:26am Henry:

yes, that is Buk. i've seen the clip before but not sure where it was
Avatar 11:26am Wild Neil:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am tiago:

Thanks for the Scott-Heron words: it gives insight into the recent events in US
Avatar 11:35am Cecile:

I'm just sad they made a non-entertaining movie with such an entertaining title. Super Van! That sounds like instant fun.
Avatar 11:36am Henry:

Here's Buk in Freak-Out 76 wet t-shirt contest: www.youtube.com...
