Avatar 12:15pm Duane:

Good afternoon one and all! Welcome aboard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Kat in Chicago:

"Two songs in and I already bought a record" it's the Duane effect!
Avatar 12:21pm kumar:

Avatar 12:26pm kumar:

awww yeah. Can't Run From My Love is one of my fave Bernie bass lines. Floats around then follows the horns, so good <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm frozen_peas:

Today's show is absolute perfection!!
  12:29pm oks:

love love love it!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm michelle:

love how all these songs seem to melt into the next - great tunes so far !! :)
Avatar 12:32pm Nick S.:

Hey, Duane! Great show, as usual. Worrell played on this:

And he played on Fred Schneider's first dolo record, too:
Avatar 12:35pm PKNY:

G'TZAG Duane and the 'iacs! Great show so far, feeling the Bernie set. One thing that I learned is that Bernie plays (uncredited, I believe) on Mtume's "Juicy Fruit".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm KRYPT:

HI Duane, an everyone from the (inevitable) Republic of Scotland :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Wendy del Formaggio:

I'm so glad I have a bunch of writing to do today. Then I can listen to the Duane Train while I work. Yay! Hi Duane and everybody.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm KRYPT:

Should have been a comma after "everyone" in my above comment, sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Kat in Chicago:

Hi KRYPT. I really enjoyed the epithets the fine people of Scotland unleashed upon a certain American presidential candidate on Twitter recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Rest in Peace, Other Music. :-(
Avatar 12:55pm Duane:

KRYPT: Couldn't have happen to a better soon-to-be hard drinkin republic!
Avatar 12:56pm Wild Neil:

PEACE Duane et al.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Kat in Chicago:

Yes RIP Other Music. I specifically remember purchasing Odelay there when I lived in Manhattan. "Two turntables and a microphone..."
Avatar 12:58pm Wild Neil:

Mijo has some 80's synth drums going on in the background now and again. Like Miami Vice type drums...
Avatar 12:59pm Wild Neil:

My bad, its Lay-Far-right?
  1:00pm PERSONATOR:

Nice mixing.
Avatar 1:00pm fred:

I'm still reeling from the closing of Bimbo Tower. Losing a record store is such a blow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Kat in Chicago:

Want that Mijo but looks like it's not out yet!
Avatar 1:05pm Wild Neil:

@Fred-I think new small record stores take over in time...it happened in NY with Venus records and others that are now closed....but others came along and opened such as Other Music in the 90's...now its closed....but its sad to lose such a carefully curated collection of music to be sure....NOTHING can truly REPLACE it...only approximate it somehow...NONE of the independent record shops I knew in Syracuse in the 80's, NY such as Desert Shore and Modern Records look like they have been closed for ten or maybe even twenty years now....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm KRYPT:

@Kat, yeah "tupeed fucktrumpet" was a personal fav :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm KRYPT:

Whahey, Dirty Mac! Cheers D.
  1:10pm michelle:

Ohhhh man this has been my jam for the past week.
Avatar 1:10pm fred:

@Wild Neil: I wish. But rent is way too high here for interesting record stores to survive. Though Souffle Continu is proving me wrong
Avatar 1:15pm Wild Neil:

PEACE Duane et al! @Fred-I can only imagine the insanely high rents in Paris that probably rival Manhattan and Tokyo...which is why I am a huge fan of second tier cities such as Lublin , Poland which is much more affordable and normal people can afford to open interesting cultural offerings..now that the internet can spread information globally there is a market for say Tuareg Techno et al in Buffalo NY which is my closest city about twenty miles away...( about 40km)....Warsazawa is interesting but probably more expensive than Lublin-which has THREE major universities, hence an audience for music! I have YET to see a NON-Empik store there, they are all I see these chain stores (which are admittedly POLISH)...
Avatar 1:18pm Wild Neil:

Dion and Tony are winning me over with their very low frequency domain swells and ebbs...VERY cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Kat in Chicago:

Independent wrecka stows are doing well in Chicago, I'm happy to report. We've got a couple of new ones even.
Avatar 1:20pm βrian:

Heh. "tupeed fucktrumpet." I like that. I learned the phrase "Toe rag, " in reference to one Nigel Farage. Vocabulary is fun!
Avatar 1:24pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Good morning fellow Duaniacs, as it is morning on the Best Coast. San Diego has a nice variety of vinyl record stores, though one has closed since my short time here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Brian in New Orleans:

Brian in New Orleans checking in.....on his Birthday!
Avatar 1:26pm Wild Neil:

We have Record Theatre in Buffalo....there are two, they are quite large...and then there's spiral scratch...
Avatar 1:28pm Sem Chumbo:

How sweet this is, Patrice Rushen is goddess-like.
Avatar 1:29pm Monica:

lovin' this patrice, duane!
  1:29pm Kimbers:

Love my Duane Train!!!
Avatar 1:30pm fred:

I guess I should mellow some. I mean, not having a Jandek section shouldn't be a deal-breaker, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm KRYPT:

@Sem Chumbo, too right, I am a massive fan.
Avatar 1:35pm Duane:

Thanks Traniacs..Hello monica, thanks Kimbers!
Avatar 1:37pm fred:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Bronwyn Bishop:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm Linda Lee:

beautiful show today Duane! fantastique!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Guido from Cologne:

Fun show!
Enjoyed every bit of it!
Cheers Duane!
  2:44pm Ari:

Super sweet groove. Is this an original or a deep, discovered piece that was later remixed/edited?
Avatar 2:44pm Jshatan:

Well said, Duane! Did you go to the Other Music concert?
Avatar 2:46pm Duane:

Ari: Yeah its a re-edit, but they really brought the sleaze out of the tune. THe OG is cool, but it had too many parts in it. They didn't quite know what they wanted the song to be i think.
Jshatan: I did! It was amazing Yo La Tengo and Yoko One was a highlight!!
Avatar 2:49pm Monica:

never heard this cool bonnie tune! awesome show as always, duane!
Avatar 2:50pm Sem Chumbo:

Wonderful and wondrous afternoon, Duane. Many thanks and I'll catch up with you the next time
Avatar 2:50pm Duane:
