A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

today's artwork is a tantra painting, from india. here is an explanation: www.theparisreview.org...
  9:41am Sam:

The painting reminds me of everyone going in their own direction, pursuing their various dreams every which way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am tiago:

ah yes, it has that Portuguese L sound that sounds a bit like a back tongue click (if there is such a thing...)
same sound as Bacalhau (salt cod): See forvo.com...

@roberto...im willing to bet you do not own a car being a manhattanite...
Avatar 10:31am Marcel M:

There is a huge parking lot for the newish one in Brooklyn. I hadn't been to the area since they started construction, and when I stumbled across it I was amazed. Doesn't seem like something you'd see in NYC.

Maher Shalal Hash Baz, Cool!

This Maher is great ... Joe played some yesterday too.
  10:34am Brendan:

  11:15am Brendan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Priscilla:

Happy Birthday there, Neil!
  11:19am zach / OSR:

hey , WFMU keeps playing the Maher Shalal Hash Baz record (thanks !) and saying it was "self-released" or no label -- in fact , the label is OSR , been mailing in every release on the label for 10 years . www.osr-tapes.com : ) just because we're insouciant & un-indie doesn't mean we don't not not exist !
  11:20am wild neil:

thanks! turning 49. going to ride a horse fir the first time outside of that time at the fair when i was five. and cried out of fear.
Avatar 11:21am Jeff:

The scriptwriters for Grantchester cranked up the pace a bit compared to the original James Runcie books. It's disconcerting, but probably for the better. The amount of time the original vicar spends actively engaging in self-abnegating inactivity with respect to pursuing any woman he's interested in is, believe it or not, even more protracted and suffocating than what's portrayed on the screen.

Oh, and phun phact: the writer of the books is the son of the former Archbishop of Canterbury.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Priscilla:

I find horses a little scary — so big!
Avatar 11:25am JakeGould:

And the Bandcamp for OSR and Maher Shalal Hash Baz is right here. osr-tapes.bandcamp.com...
  11:26am Listener142985:

please keep this guy in rotation, he's great
Avatar 11:27am chromaphone:

My wife recently got kicked in her lower leg by a gorgeous friesian and got a nasty hemotoma that has hurt for a while. She is going to take a break from horseback riding for a while...
Avatar 11:27am JakeGould:

@Priscilla: Horses sometimes don’t know they are that big. They are actually fairly gentle animals.
Avatar 11:31am Trouble:

@zach/osr- we are probably not noting the label because it is not mentioned on the sleeve
Avatar 11:31am Brian in UK:

Hello Trouble.

@chromaphone, I imagine your wife is gorgeous too.
Avatar 11:33am Trouble:

so you would recommend the books @jeff?
Avatar 11:34am Trouble:

i changed the label listing on the tag, @zach/osr
  11:34am wild neil:
