Bill Mac Yay!
Avatar 5:07pm Bill Mac:

Wow, hey folks! BTW Stanley, I was just asking about you. How you doon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Stanley:

Doing awright, Bill.
Long time no see. Hope you're good too.
Avatar 5:10pm Bill Mac:

I'm good, work is stressy, but I'm getting through. Weather is getting good too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Stanley:

Yo La Tengo sounding like a Sun Ra from da hood
Avatar 5:15pm Bill Mac:

Sun Ra indeed, there are four mixes of the song on the disc, I wanted to pick the one with the kids singing the response
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Stanley:

I curse the work. We'll be worn out husks of men by the time we retire.
Avatar 5:20pm TonyR:

Found my promised BM!

(It took me a while to figure out BM wasn't on the main channel....)
Avatar 5:21pm Bill Mac:

My closest buddies are retired or ready to retire. Unless something BIG happens I'll be working until it's over. Eh, could be worse, I like the people I work with. Makes all the difference
Avatar 5:22pm TonyR:

You could always claim to be Prince's son.
Avatar 5:23pm Bill Mac:

Hmmmm....that would be tricky. There's the color thing and oh yeah, I'm two months older than he is....
Avatar 5:31pm Sem Chumbo:

Evening, Bill, Stanley and all. Lovely late November day here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Stanley:

It could always be worse. But a bit if the easy life wouldn't go amiss. Talking of which, I'm taking a holiday in Japan in a couple of weeks. Mayuko has given me some tips and I'm staying in her old neighbourhood in Tokyo.
Avatar 5:32pm Bill Mac:

It did get chilly didn't it? We're doing fifties down here. Thanks for the figs BTW.
Avatar 5:32pm Bill Mac:

@Stanley Last time I talked to you you were in India right?
Avatar 5:33pm V Priceless:

Ahoy, Mr. Mac!
Avatar 5:34pm Bill Mac:

VP is in the house! Is that you in the avatar? Even hairline and all?
Avatar 5:34pm Sem Chumbo:

@Stanley: I read somewhere that Tokyo neighbourhoods are confusing because the house numbering goes by when the building was built, so, can I say ---not especially sequential?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Stanley:

Sem hi. I'm so pleased it's May here and finally getting warmer thank Gord.
Avatar 5:37pm Sem Chumbo:

Gord's letting down the side here, 6C and 30km westerlies.
Heavy envy here re: your impending Far Eastern jaunt. Nice. Bon voyage.
Avatar 5:39pm V Priceless:

@ Bill: Nah, it's Bowie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Stanley:

Bill dat true. Decided I'd do some traveling this year. Plan to go back to India at the end of the year. Meanwhile it's all about Japan. I can't wait.
Sem dat true too. But shit it's all in Japanese anyway so double insane. Seriously, I'm planning to leave a trail of chalk marks to get back to my digs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Stanley:

Or a trail of something
Avatar 5:47pm Bill Mac:

Yeah Stanner, something permanent...
  5:49pm JoeRay:

Yea, Bill Mac!!!
Avatar 5:50pm Sem Chumbo:

I was driving a tour bus in Italy one time, and we lined up to get in the Vatican at 8:30 am. There was a guide and he handed out headsets so that we could hear what he was saying via lo-power wifi as we wandered around, with the other 12.000 tourists that day.
Anyway, I got distracted and lost the group in a mob of, maybe, Albanians. My only hope---cause I did not know how to get back to the hotel---was to find the group. Sure enough, by twisting and turning my head, I could get scraps of signal from the guide. Anyway I faced with a stronger signal, that's the way I went.
Don't envy trying to get around without Japanese. though. No Plan B? GPS? Service animal? A length of string?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Stanley:

I'm getting down to this. No messing
Avatar 5:52pm Bill Mac:

Hey JR!!!
Avatar 5:58pm Sem Chumbo:

Wow, new to me, so great is this.
Avatar 5:59pm Bill Mac:

I wasn't sure if this was the cut I sampled before the show. Good 'un
Avatar 6:00pm Sem Chumbo:

Lovin' the gradient you've got going here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Stanley:

Sem - you would've had lot of fun working it out otherwise.
I'm getting a Japanese friend to write out the addresses where I'm staying in Osaka and in Tokyo and if needs be (i.e. drunk), I'll jump into a taxi and I'll just hand over the address and hope for the best.
Avatar 6:02pm Bill Mac:

@Sem I likes the cut of yer jib...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Stanley:

I echo Sem's semtiments. That was a cracker of a set.
Avatar 6:04pm geezerette:

Damn, look what I missed! Grateful for archives.
Hullo Bill and buddies.
Avatar 6:05pm Sem Chumbo:

semtiments. Playing the slippery eel, are we Stanley?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Stanley:

Bags I'm not Stalin
Avatar 6:05pm fred:

My brother asked me last week why I didn't learn Japanese. It was so obvious to him, but I never did
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm rbxbx:

hey thanks for the shout! ;p

First hour has been fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm rbxbx:

Been brushing up on my Japanese again. It's pretty approachable other than Kanji. Basically impenetrable :(
Avatar 6:08pm Sem Chumbo:

Fast eel food drive-thrus everywhere there, I hear. You'll learn to love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Stanley:

I'm taking lessons from the fella at our local Post office. He's Egyptian!
Avatar 6:09pm Sem Chumbo:

Anything about his walk that gives that away?
Avatar 6:10pm Bill Mac:

Get the bucket, Sems on fire tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Carmichael:

The Blossom Toes. Wow, haven't heard this in eons.
Avatar 6:12pm geezerette:

Avatar 6:13pm geezerette:

Need more brain food.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Stanley:

A World of Psychedelia.
I can dig that.
I took a trip once.....still haven't come down
Avatar 6:14pm fred:

There was talk of Susanna Hoffs on an earlier playlist, which should excuse/explain any Sem temp rise.
Avatar 6:15pm Bill Mac:

I can see that.... it's also a really indirect Prince reference....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Carmichael:

Unagi drive thrus ... What a concept!
Avatar 6:16pm Sem Chumbo:

fred, what are you reading these days? Any tips?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Stanley:

Avatar 6:17pm Bill Mac:

CC Happy Monday man!
Avatar 6:18pm Sem Chumbo:

Didn't Dante write something about the seven circles of eels?
Yo, coel, any eels as old as you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm rbxbx:

Ah yes, the Divine Unagi.
Avatar 6:19pm fred:

No dice, man. I'm getting ready for heart surgery, and I have to save for that, so I'm just reading old books.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm rbxbx:

@fred godspeed with the heart surgery.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm coelacanth:

i clicked the drummer "link" on the homepage about 20 min ago and no program showed up, yet people have been posting since 5...hmmm...

Avatar 6:21pm Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm coelacanth:

Avatar 6:24pm fred:

Avatar 6:24pm Bill Mac:

@CC I hope people are on as normal. Too many things to do to make sure I'm properly connected, etc.
Avatar 6:25pm Bill Mac:

@Fred OK this time I'm speechless... but I think I'd say something like that myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Carmichael:

Fredspeed ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Carmichael:

Sly and the Family Fadoul.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm coelacanth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm listener james from westwood:

Avatar 6:36pm Sem Chumbo:

Avatar 6:39pm Sem Chumbo:

I'm reading a biography of Joan Didion at the moment, and when she lived just off Sunset in LA, Jim Morrison would come by, randomly, to look at himself in her mirrors. She says he could not get over how much weight he lost, after being a chubby teenager and then discovering speed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Bill. Whazzup? Hello from the grocery store.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm coelacanth:

Avatar 6:41pm Bill Mac:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Carmichael:

Avatar 6:41pm Sem Chumbo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Stanley:

Keed spills!
Avatar 6:43pm Sem Chumbo:

Yes, Sacramento figures pretty heavily in her psyche, it seems.
Its OK, Carmichael, old is just fine.
Avatar 6:44pm Sem Chumbo:

Avatar 6:46pm Sem Chumbo:

FYI, the Flaming Groovies are like the house band on Burning Man Information Radio, streaming year-round at bmir dot org. Listen in pretty often, though not for ther F.G.'s.
Avatar 6:49pm Bill Mac:

Cool.... and to think I bought this album back in 1975 for a buck down the shore thinking these guys would wallow forever in complete obscurity
Avatar 6:53pm V Priceless:

thanks Bill! Great to hear ya! Switching to app....come back soon - cheers!
Avatar 6:53pm Sem Chumbo:

I love this music, music to take over a small Latin American country by.
