Options Brian Turner: Playlist from May 10, 2016 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Barney Grubbs:

Brian--what went wrong with the China visa? I have to go apply for one next week & I'm always scared they'll change the rules by the time I get to the consulate.
  3:37pm Betamax81 (Aaron Hali):

360, represent! I'm back in CA from Pt. Townsend!...
Avatar 3:37pm geezerette:

Hey Cecile!
Avatar 3:38pm Lopez:

Best Brown Sugar performance I've ever heard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm mariano:

I thought Brown Sugar was some outtake from a forgotten Candy Darling recording session or something!
Avatar 3:40pm Brian Turner:

Ah, I was invited with short time --- it was a mess with the consulate and hadda keep coming back with new paperwork til finally time ran out even with expedition. There is an experimental festival there I was asked to partake in, but looks like will wait til next year! I would hire an expediter for yr Visa barney if you are in worry.
Avatar 3:41pm Cheri Pi:

yo CECILE
  3:41pm Tony:

Barney - use a service. It's definitely worth the money. I went to China last year for a work-related event, and really enjoyed it. I left getting the visa until the last minute because of a miscommunication, but they still got it to me before I was supposed to leave. And going to the consulate in person wasn't really an option since it was an 8 hour drive away.
Avatar 3:42pm Cecile:

Avatar 3:53pm Cecile:

Ha! Figured it was one of em.
Avatar 3:56pm Cecile:

I just had a sudden urge to listen to Beastwars. I'll be back in a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Barney Grubbs:

Thanks! It has been a few years since I got my last one and NYC's just close enough by LIRR that I can't bring myself to use an expediter unless time is really tight. There always seem to be folks getting sent back for additional photocopies, forms, etc., but what they want seems to change over time. But it's nice to have an excuse to head into the city a couple of times, even if it is a hassle.
Avatar 4:00pm Lopez:

Avatar 5:00pm cosmic matrix:

the weird part is, i don't remember hardly anything about the movie....except for the radioactive stuff....and i think the intro scene follows a drainpipe or something? and the nosebleed....

Here is some news about Primavera Sound. If I understand it correctly, Red Bull is providing a video feed. www.vintagevinylnews.com... I hope drinking their product is not a prerequisite to watch said video stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@tomasz - Congrats on the move. I hope the outgoing WFMU swag makes it correctly to your new address.

  12:40am Brian Turner:

Ken from Hyde Park: Red Bull has been there in the past - but they carry select streams and partial sets that will differ from us - we often carry full sets and different/more artists.
