  12:11pm slazenger:

Ah, the Berg has arrived. Great opening.
  12:12pm slazenger:

Hey Liz, was that Carnatic music yours or from Troubles show?
Avatar 12:12pm geezerette:

  12:14pm slazenger:

or rather shasha's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Liz Berg:

@slazenger, Trouble's last track was a bit on the dancey side, my first track was more on the Steve Reich end of the spectrum.
  12:15pm slazenger:

Thanks, this is way awesome.
Avatar 12:16pm coelacanth:

i had backed up my player to hear Trouble's antique road show story and forgot to reset so the playlists changed in the midst of the Amazing Ravi Schankar and i thought wfmu was playing an april fools' joke which would really get people in may. all this follows that perfectly.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Liz Berg:

Artist Steve Combs had a crazy run-in with someone who stole his music and posted it on youtube under another name:
Avatar 12:40pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Enjoying the robot groove thang Liz. By the way, it would please you to know that I was cruising for a joke gift for my brothers birthday in a Salvation Army thrift store and came across an $8 dollar casio keyboard from the late 1980s! I snapped that up, put in fresh batteries and made my sister bonkers playing it in the car on the way back. Decided to keep it and give him something else, just for the horribly great drum rhythyms on it.
  12:42pm love:

This Sasha Mishkin song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Liz Berg:

Werk that casio, Jennique! Makin' me proud!
  12:52pm Burnin' Vernon:

Excellent, I think I'll get my VL-Tone out and play along.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Liz Berg:

I wonder if anyone has ever compiled all of the goofy "Demo" songs that were built into consumer keyboard models from the '70s-'90s. That would be some irritainment!
Avatar 12:58pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm mariano:

My mom and stepdad got one of those "Fun Machines" when I was a kid, which were electric organs with all kinds of bells and whistles. Kind of like a big tacky Casio keyboard made out of faux wood you could sit at. That one had a hell of a demo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Liz Berg:

Well, the internet just has it all, doesn't it?
Avatar 1:10pm coelacanth:

my keyboard's not there. and none of those casios' are even similar.
  1:17pm subjecttoochange:

You are killing it today Liz! Thank you.
Avatar 1:18pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

I have to go home and look at the model of my thrift store Casio buy. I have a toy sized one as well. It's blue and orange, has a belt clip, three drum rhythms and an orange light that flashes with the beat.
Avatar 1:19pm coelacanth:

haha! that sounds beautiful!
Avatar 1:25pm Shaun(ununun):

Thanks for posting that Steve Combs article, great article!
Avatar 1:25pm Shaun(ununun):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Liz Berg:

Ha ha, thanks Mariano! I made up that translation if you couldn't tell...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm mariano:

Great song to follow up! Sorry, it's hard to resist the temptation to be a language pedant...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm mariano:

It's probably my insecurity though: was in Berlin a few weeks ago for the first time since '98, and I was appalled at how bad my German has become. No better way to compensate than to correct someone else's German: and so the cycle of evil continues!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Liz Berg:

Hope Berlin was fun!
  2:14pm herb.nyc:

Hi all. Pat Byrne played Girls No 3 days ago! Great song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm mariano:

Thanks, was a short three-day trip to see my friends who are there for a year, but enough for me to embarrass myself when trying to order stuff at their local coffee shop. The biggest defeat is when they just answer you back in English!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Andrew Waterloo:

@Mariano, I have the same experience with french when I go to Quebec. After 3 or 4 syllables it's "oh, You're English" and then you stuck talking in English.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm mariano:

@Andrew: Good to know there's a fellow sufferer on the list!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Andrew Waterloo:

Yah, I'll try again in 2 weeks though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Andrew Waterloo:

It's harsh when you're just ordering coffee though. You barely need to speak when you're ordering coffee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm mariano:

Yeah, with me it was more the questions they asked in return: I have the "Ein Milchkaffee bitte" part down, but then I'd get a question I didn't understand in return. This Coathangers: remember a group called the Rogers Sisters? Very similar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Michael 98145:
