I can't believe Prince is gone. I was working at a disco station called 96FEVER in Clearwater, FL circa 1979 when Prince released "I Wanna Be Your Lover". We immediately knew he was going to be huge. So saddened by this loss. So much talent, ambition, virtuosity on all levels. Always remember ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Summer and Michael:

This track sounds like an International Harvester/ Parson Sound song we have on CD. Is that possible, Fabio? Great show as ever!
Avatar 3:46pm Cecile:

Avatar 3:48pm Fabio:

@Summer & Michael: yes, I believe a version of this appears on the Parson Sound collection. And possibly an International Harvester collection as well... the band evolved out of all three after all...

Hello everyone. I don't usually listen to FMU at this hour, but I need some aural comfort, dammit! I'm getting it now, thank you...
I was thinking about Prince's song I Would Die For U, the way that intense lyric in the chorus was inserted into a melody that might have been a great fit for a 1950s Debbie Reynolds musical. What a creature - thrilling to the end
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Cliff:

Diane just played that one on her show, IFisher: www.wfmu.org...

  5:14pm Dean:

Brötzmann plays in SF on May 18. Got my ticket, I'm going. Where will he be in PDX?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm mrdonutsu:

Mississippi Studios
Avatar 5:17pm MattD:

@Sarcopterygii - I'm not sure about the US, I don't remember PWHMOBS doing any tours recently, but I haven't been looking for them. I know they did a week or two in continental Europe a month or so ago. Maybe check their website - partwildhorsesmaneonbothsides.com or Facebook - www.facebook.com... I don't see anything upcoming just yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Altho' not an ardent follower of Mr. Nelson - nevertheless always awed by his potential talents to do - literally anything. As w/ Bowie - will miss wondering what that might be @ any given time...an incredible talent has gone, one who struggled w/ the Spiritual & to convey it & a positive message in Popular Culture.
  5:19pm Dean:

I'll have to check out Mississippi Studios. It's two miles from my sister-in-law.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm mrdonutsu:

@Dean It's a nice small-theater venue. Tiny stage, great sound.
  5:27pm Dean:

Here he's playing a nice small venue, too, The Chapel. (Or so I'm told, not having been there yet.) I heard him not long ago in a restaurant in Oakland, upstairs, a tight corner of the building. But the best was at a now defunct joint in Berkeley, Jazz House, a few folding chairs, tiny stage. It was the Full Blast Trio, one of the best live shows I've ever attended.

Sad ... "The local sheriff said deputies found Prince unresponsive in an elevator late Thursday morning after being summoned to his home, but that first-responders couldn't revive him.

No details about what may have caused his death have been released. Prince postponed a concert in Atlanta on April 7, after coming down with the flu, and he apologized to fans during a makeup concert last week."
Avatar 5:49pm Marcel M:

He became a Jehovah's witness..
Avatar 5:50pm Marcel M:

Turned anti gay. Pretty lame... RIP tho.
  5:51pm Dean:

Still chewing on @ted's comment @4:13 about the sadness of birth. You know, consider the flip side of the morbid reflection on lost artists these past few months. During the same time hella people have been born, some microscopic subset of whom will turn out to be highly talented creative artists. If we can stick around another quarter century, give or take, we'll get to enjoy their work!
