I screwed up and missed Napalm Death/Melvins/Melt Banana this week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am Devin B.:

@Marcel, @Chris M. - I caught that tour a couple nights ago. All three bands were great. Hadn't seen Melvins in almost 20 years and they totally exceeded expectations.

Those first few months of the year are always a little slow for new releases, but there's sure been a flood of great new albums coming out in the last month or so, hasn't there? Thanks for keeping us caught up (or trying to!)
Avatar 9:50am Chris from DC:

Wow, this is new Lush? Nice.
  9:52am Mark R.:

It's nice to have Lush back at all, and then to have them sounding so great is even better. Sometimes the best thing a band can do is take a break.

Avatar 10:00am duke:

Well, Happy Birthday a day late.
Personally I try to ignore birthdays, but I like to keep having them since the alternative of not having any more isn't so great.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Greg from ZONE 5:

Years ago you could put a little bio on your Amazon wish list. Sometime in 2007 I wrote "I'm listening to Konono No 1 and eating a sandwich." It's still says that and I have absolutely no idea how to change it.
Avatar 10:49am Rev. Turnip Druid:

QUICK, Greg. Get a sandwich. Before this track is done.

This is awesome

  11:00am franny:

that's cheeky.
Avatar 11:00am fred:

Weird event of the week: People Like Us should have played in a movie theater, but a fire broke out. The show was moved to another place, thanks to quick thinking by the organizers. One told me that when he told Vicki about the fire, she asked "where's my laptop" and he rushed to save it. Sonic Protest people are great
Avatar 11:00am Marcel M:

Killer show today Chris.

sorry for the confusion i guess i'm too old for people to remember that my birthday is coming up. thanks for all the well wishes. i will save them for my actual birthday next month.
Avatar 11:06am just dc pat or dcp-your choice:

Avatar 11:10am fred:

@RTD: Com Truise was playing when I saw your comment about the anteater, so that he was actually named Pablo was a mild disappointment
Avatar 11:12am Rev. Turnip Druid:

...but Pablo the Anteater never disappoints. Pablo the anteater is magnificent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Ken From Hyde Park:

How does one un-belate a birthday wish? I guess save it for after your actual birthday?
Avatar 11:13am Cecile:

you should write a great song about him, rev. Better than "pablow the blowfish"
Avatar 11:15am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Cecile: it's an idea. Nice thing is, the anteater enclosure is near the 'secret' back entrance to the Nat'l Zoo, so one can stealthily dart in & visit Pablo without hassling with mobs of tourists & strollers...
Avatar 11:16am Cheri Pi:

Avatar 11:18am fred:

@Ken: PhD comics had a survey lately showing that "sorry for the late reply" are the most typed words in academia. I can believe that. It seems a reply takes hours or months, never anything in between
Avatar 11:19am Cecile:

rev, that is so cool. Maybe I'll sneak in a bucket of boiled eggs for him if I ever go there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Lewis:

@Fred - as an academic, I would say that your characterization is not incorrect.
Avatar 11:20am Cecile:

but do they eat them with the shells on? They must if they steal them from bird or turtle nests.
Avatar 11:21am Chris M.:

anteaters are not real. if you've ever seen one up close you can tell that their noses are glued on. i even have an anteater disguise kit i bought from an issue of captain america in the 80s. no scientist has ever proven anteaters.
Avatar 11:22am Chris M.:

There, there, chris. There, there.
Avatar 11:24am Chris M.:

Avatar 11:25am fred:

@Cecile: having just read Infinite Jest again, that "there, there" comment sounds ominous
Avatar 11:26am Cecile:

I was actually thinking of the ineffectual "there, there" from Flight of the Conchords, but that works too.
Avatar 11:26am Cecile:

math-rock revival starts here.
Avatar 11:26am Rev. Turnip Druid:

There may be no anteaters, but there definitely is PABLO.

from the Pink Panther cartoon? Jeez, I haven't thought about that in years.
Avatar 11:34am fred:

@βrian: I'll be seeing Irmler and Liebezeit tonight, unless another fire breaks out. I saw Tony Conrad at Sonic Protest too, a few years ago, in a church
Avatar 11:34am Cecile:

thank you FMU hive mind. Seriously!
Avatar 11:35am Cecile:

fred that has to be terrifying.
Avatar 11:36am βrian:

I only remember the anteater from the B.C. strip.
Avatar 11:39am fred:

Terror might be too strong a word, especially these days. But the acoustics of a centuries-old church are definitely a challenge
