Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from April 5, 2016 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Thanks for playing Robert Ashley!

"Jean Giono" makes me want to reread Jean Giono.

John Giorno the poet and friend of Ashley (I presume )

I was thinking Jean Giono the French author, Joy of Man's Desiring...

mmmmm beans!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm

ohhhh please play the run out groove?

JP from KC:

Still no little radio icon for you either, I see, Polyus. I've thought about contacting Joe McG, but I'm sure he's got much more pressing things to deal with. Maybe in a couple weeks...

Ah, of course, Giorno. I'll amend my comment.

"Jean Giorno" makes me want to reread Jean Giono.

Hey guys, you can drop me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do: jmcgasko@gmail.com. Maybe not today, but soon.

JP from KC:

No rush, Joe. Like I said, I'm sure you've still got a lot on your plate with the post-marathon business, and this is hardly a high-priority issue. I'll drop you a line in the next couple of days.

Jean Giono thanks for introducing me, Dean and just dc pat

Oh man, someone my girlfriend knows makes a ton of money selling 'relationship enhancers'. We refer to it as "slingin' 'do's".

Love Giono. Wild stories..

And thanks to Robert Ashley for inadvertently bringing him to mind!

(I know *exactly* what you mean, Mr. Ashley.)

Looking forward to seeing Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments this weekend, Brian.
Avatar 4:05pm

I'm concerned about the voltage.

does Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments really have tour dates coming up? any link - I can't seem to find any.

Thanks Brian, for the Horse Lords, The Celestial Choir, faUSt and showing me around what you guys make listeners and travelers feel like home! Fjolla from Kosova

GGG I was saying to check out Ron's band Counter Intuits when they come around...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm

I spent a good deal of time trying to track down this Edson Velandia En Vivo album after you played it a couple of weeks ago. Eventually i gave up and figured out how to hijack the track from your archive stream. Now you hit me with another....

Where can a schmuck like me buy a copy of this?
Avatar 4:18pm
Brian Turner:

I got my copy at Other Music in NYC cklequ

sounds great at this speed - I typically prefer slower, but faster is the way to go here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm

you know when they've been drinking enough water, the urochromes are mostly clear

Wasn't fire written by Jon Voght's brother?

Cooh John:

@GGG: I just found out about TJSA playing yesterday. It is very difficult to find out where and when any derivative of a Ron House band plays. He has virtually no Internet presence. I am lucky because he is local. His Counter Intuit performance 2 weeks ago was promoted only on the venue's website. I missed that performance because it sold out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm

@clekqu: Not alone there. OM sold it out instantly. However, you might try getting in touch with Ricardo Gallo, one of Velandia's co-conspirators. If you google up his home page, he has a contact form there. He's in NYC area & I think he was the source of OM's copies.
Cooh John:

Wow. Played 2 bands from Cbus. There is a fantastic music scene here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm

sorry mangled yr name there cklequ!

A little bit about the Edson Velandia recording: http://www.mingautopia.net/aputoi-song-at-once-the-story-of-the-new-velandias-album/
Pretty Tony:

ohhhh yeeeaaahhh
Avatar 4:47pm

Thank you, Dean! I gotta find the CD.

"Song at Once" might be idiomatic, but it misses the significance of "tiro," shot, like a gunshot or a thrown rock. "Matar dos pájaros de un solo tiro" means "Kill two birds with one stone."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm

Thanks a lot, Stepchild...
I'll look into that.

No worries, my name is already mangled.

that thigh master track was rad.

Avatar 5:17pm

Actually this version pre-dates the Falls. Originally a mo-town song.

BEF happened alongside Heaven 17.

The Quitter had a somewhat Mudhoney-ish dynamic (w/ synths?) - which is good...
