I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Carmichael:

The guy on the left sure looks ecstatic ...
Avatar 1:02pm ottovonbqe:

why is it called sex and broadcasting? is there a lot of sex going on at wfmu?
  1:04pm Cliff:

It always sounds funny to me when people refer to Poughkeepsie and environs as "upstate".....I guess we're just out in the wilderness way up here :)
  1:04pm Polyus:

That's what I heard. Plus some broadcasting.
Avatar 1:06pm Chris from DC:

That is some incredible tabla.
Avatar 1:06pm Bryce:

i wondered that myself....

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm sphere:

i believe that "Sex and Broadcasting" was the name of a guide to community radio that inspired Station Manager Ken.
Avatar 1:08pm ottovonbqe:

ah, thanks bryce! and sphere.
Avatar 1:10pm ottovonbqe:

I guess I can see the relation. WFMU is always having trouble with its equipment too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Michael in Seattle:

This is great music to start the month ...

"Sex and Broadcasting" was written by Lorenzo Milam who started our beloved and long-gone freeform station, KRAB-fm. I started subscribing when its original studio was a former donut shop in North Seattle.

  1:48pm Casement 5ound:

Yes! Kadri is the shit
  1:51pm nickrhombi:

this has been a most enjoyable sound track to an afternoon siesta of lucid dreaming. - pretty amazing level of technical proficiency on all levels. really, quite a ride. thanks, bryce.
  1:54pm Cliff:

Carnatic saxophonic bliss
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm chris:

some of these performers may have practiced these ragas for years before ever performing them in public. it is a level of dedication and mastery not often replicated in the west.
Avatar 1:56pm Chris from DC:

That tabla player earlier sure sounded like it. Pretty blown away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm northguineahills:

perfect soundtrack to keep me sane as I figured out how to scrub a virus from my laptap. Only took 35 minutes, all systems are go now. Thank you trial and error, and thank you Bryce!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm chris:

add that one to your infosec resume, ngh. nice job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm northguineahills:

speaking of which, I'm revamping my resume right now, I really need job, and might be taking one in FL, but that would mean leaving me wife here in NYC.
Avatar 2:03pm Cecile:

this is a great piece!
Avatar 2:03pm Cecile:

what year was this piece recorded?
Avatar 2:04pm BriJet:

Nice tunes.
  2:04pm P-90:

Excellent set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats, ngh. I hope something turns up here and you don't have to move out like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm chris:

eek, ngh. good luck with the non-relocation job hunt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Ike:

Time to start working on your 2022 marathon premium!
Avatar 2:08pm Bryce:

hey, cecile, i think that was from '96?
Avatar 2:08pm Bryce:

hahaaa lol, ike
Avatar 2:08pm Cecile:

That was beautifully recorded. Amazing technique
  2:12pm Cliff:

Yes, good luck northguineahills. I'm actually moving abroad this summer for a new job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm northguineahills:

Well, the job is FL is a dream job, the head of my own GIS department if of an environmental engineering firm that does environmental impact studies (I worked for them straight out of college until I moved here), but, it's in FL, and my wife has her dream job here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm northguineahills:

oh, and thanks!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Gaylord Fields:

Speaking of work, I've finally got the hang of the whole "working from home" bit — work from someone else's home, as I'm doing right now. That way you don't have all your home distractions tempting you.
  2:16pm Cliff:

That's brilliant Gaylord
Avatar 2:17pm Cecile:

I'm OK working one day a week from home. If I added more, I think I'd be one of those people at the library or the coffee shops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm Gaylord Fields:

Thanks, @Cliff: It also helps that this is the home of people with WFMU affiliations, so I can enjoy Bryce's show today to my heart's content.
Avatar 2:19pm Cecile:

that is cool. Can you also take a nap on the sofa if your thought process requires it?
  2:19pm Cliff:

Did you ask them their blood type? Or astrological sign?
  2:19pm P-90:

@Gaylord: Sounds like you're onto something there. Makes a lot of sense.
Avatar 2:19pm Wild Neil:

Bryce et al-good afternoon! Peace be unto you all!
@Northguineahills-are you lamenting or actually looking for input?
  2:20pm mjgoins:

Another amazing Bryce set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm Gaylord Fields:

@Cecile: Exactly! I need to find alternate venues to work in. This week, I worked two days in the office, two at my friend's home, and one properly at my home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm chris:

i work from home 100%... wfmu is my distraction. i tried working from someone else's home, but they got really upset when they found me there... sheesh, some people.
Avatar 2:22pm Cecile:

The writing teacher, Natalie Goldberg told a story of a woman who would write in her bank's vault. She'd go in and ask to see her security deposit box and then just park it at a table down there. No distractions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Gaylord Fields:

@Cecile: I'm (sitting) on the sofa now!

@Chris: I suppose working from home is not a viable option if you work as a burglar.
  2:24pm Cliff:

"Whaddya talkin' bout, a break-in?! I'm just trying to get some work done here! In your house! So what if we don't know each other?"
Avatar 2:25pm Cecile:

One semester when I had a lot of homework on vacation, I found a hotel room a perfect place to work. We had down time in the AM, so hubby would read and I'd work on class stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Gaylord Fields:

I'm also thinking of "work-cation" options, such as other cities. My company's Southern California HQ is temporarily located in the backlot of a major movie/television production studio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm northguineahills:

@Wild Neil: I'm actually lamenting since I finally ran out of money, but the job itself is what I've always wanted to do. I've had a friend of my brother who's a recruiter who gave me resume templates that should pass through most company's auto-algorithms, so, I'm hoping this will work this time.

However, any advice is welcome. thanksss!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Michael in Seattle:

@ngh, don't want to sound snarky, but GIS should be useful when FL is under water.
Avatar 2:32pm Cecile:

I think you and your partner have a lot of soul-searching to do. Long-distance is hard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm northguineahills:

btw, the History of Germany podcast I've been listening to before bed, actually uses Faust as its theme music. Apropos I'd say.

In NYC all of the GIS jobs are mostly gov't, and the environmental impact studies on brown sites are also gov't. I've done 13 years of gov't jobs here, so, FL actually has more options in that regard.
  2:33pm Cliff:

That was always my problem, I don't know the secret keywords or whatever to put on the resume to get it by the computer-assisted HR drones
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm northguineahills:

I think me not making money is the bigger problem. Our first year and half dating we were in different countries.
Avatar 2:35pm Cecile:

Marriage is a little different. Then again, neither one of us has been so in love with a job or town that one of us would want to stay back when the other one wanted to go.
Avatar 2:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

why aren't i listening to this now?
Avatar 2:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...asks the me that existed until now.
  2:39pm Cliff:

The answer lies within you.
Avatar 2:39pm Cecile:

but then again, things might be a little less cut and dried for me if I had a job I really liked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm northguineahills:

All I'm doing right now is walking dogs, and that just covers groceries. So, anything in the interim I'd welcome.
Avatar 2:47pm Chris from DC:

This has been a great show. Cutting out early, forecast calls for afternoon beersies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Carmichael:

I hear ya there, Cecile. Just a few more years and I can kiss this whole work thing goodbye.
  2:47pm Cliff:

Beer from the sky, what a wonderful place you live in Chris from DC
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Quite the April Fool trick for someone expecting to hear something other than raga music this afternoon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm chris:
