Avatar 7:08pm djsheilab:

Hi Faye! Such a treat to finally meet you the other night!
Avatar 7:11pm Faye:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12pm cory:

wow, that Gate is nifty
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm Dave in Vermont:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm melinda:

hi Faye! and listeners!
  7:19pm JakeGould:

Hey Faye! And P-90, DJShielaB, Cory and Dave not in New Hampshire!

Is that graphic a premium?
Avatar 7:23pm djsheilab:

Just an FYI that I made a computer pledge but didn't get the confirmation e-mail I normally get when I pledge. But it went through on my credit card. Hmmm....anyone else having an issue?
  7:23pm Syd:

Hiya Faye.
  7:24pm JakeGould:

@djsheilab: Check your SPAM filter or maybe just wait for the Inner-tubes to catch up? I pay pledge via bill me later and do a PayPal for the whole amount to avoid stuff like that.
Avatar 7:25pm djsheilab:

Thanks @JakeGould! Hopefully it went through.
Avatar 7:39pm Paul D:

Wow this new Belle & Sebastian is really good.
  7:39pm JA:

Avatar 7:44pm dk:

man, except for the entirely-comprehensible lyrics, that belle & sebastian tune could easily be a new pornographers song. that's pretty much the you-got-your-chocolate-in-my-peanut-butter of pop music right there.
Avatar 7:51pm dk:

calling your band 'jawbreaker reunion' seems like a great way to troll nostalgic grownup emo kids.
  7:52pm JakeGould:

@dk: That band name really confuses me. It’s like naming your band “Led Zeppelin T-Shirt”
Avatar 7:54pm djsheilab:

@JA Great!
Avatar 7:55pm dk:

great. just GREAT. thanks a LOT, jake. now i have to find a new name for my ambient power electronics project.
  7:57pm JakeGould:

@dk: How about “Actual Flock of Actual Seagulls.”
  7:57pm JakeGould:

“Men Without Protective Hats”
Avatar 7:58pm dk:

i was thinking maybe "a green day's night"
  7:59pm JakeGould:

@dk: How about “Sink the Pink Uncle Floyd.”
  8:00pm tomasz.:

no it's me! you have to put down a US state when pledging from yr phone, ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm Cooh John:

Hello Faye and fellow pledglings. @dk and JakeGould: How about Errorsmith.
  8:02pm tomasz.:

me and listener Daniel from Germany have long wanted to form a hardcore band called "Miles Davis"
  8:02pm JakeGould:

Hey Cooh John.

Also, kids listening to and actively participating in WFMU shows are great!
  8:03pm sugarwolf:

@sheila: I didnt get an email the other night but it was because I put in gmail.co instead of .com
Avatar 8:03pm dk:

tomasz: that'd be awesome. your leadoff release could be a 4-track EP called 'The First Quartet'
  8:05pm tomasz.:

ha! definitely. the Miles Davis estate will cease-and-desist our asses off, of course, but for a concept that solid i think it will be worth it
  8:06pm Carmichael:

Hey Faye and peeps.
  8:09pm Chrysanthymum:

Hey - I love your sticker - I happen to have a huge retrospective collection of Faye art.
Avatar 8:13pm FernandoBelmondo:

Hi Faye! Love the music you play and even more to listen to you talking. I hope HC stays on the air FOREVER!
Avatar 8:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm coelacanth:

  8:19pm JakeGould:

Thanks Faye! Holy shit! I was just thinking I’d like to hear some Unrest!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm Cooh John:

Olympia Elton John
Swag For Life Member 8:19pm Ralphine:

What's the name of that Password (Is Password) band again?
  8:20pm JakeGould:

Well, not Unrest but still… Close enough.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm coelacanth:

these band names are cracking me up!
  8:22pm Carmichael:

Roid Rogers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm coelacanth:

Avatar 8:24pm djsheilab:

@coelacanth Yessssss!
Avatar 8:24pm Faye:

Counter Intuits! sorry ralphine my hands were slightly to the left on the keyboard, haha
  8:28pm JakeGould:

“Jack Lord of this World” A band that sings the songs of Black Sabbath in the same intonation as Jack Lord from Hawaii Five-O.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm Andrew Waterloo:

*in cookie monster voice" Melody is a sometimes food
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm coelacanth:

Hahahaha! Great Jake!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Holy crap! The Simpsons episode this week had the voices of Tom Scharpling and Jon Wurster! They were scientists who were sending people to Mars. I didn't realize it until the final credits.
  8:32pm Carmichael:

Kathleen Turner Overdrive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm coelacanth:

my refrigerator's made of bones and fur. those magnets wont stick to it.

  8:39pm JakeGould:

Hello from Rome, IA!
Avatar 8:40pm Faye:

  8:42pm H-Cameron:

  8:45pm Carmichael:

Fat Lezzy.
  8:45pm JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Maybe. How about “Utah Saint Etienne”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm coelacanth:

that's a beautiful tote bag.
Avatar 8:47pm Danne D:

LOL - how did I know John was gonna read that...
Avatar 8:47pm Danne D:

Maybe I shoulda said "You better pull my card" ;)
Avatar 8:48pm Danne D:

I'm not staff in the strict sense but I'd like the other kids to win :)
Avatar 8:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...don't know why zackly - but 'Roid Rogers' 'bout makes my day...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm coelacanth:

Jake, i'd much rather hear them than Utah Phillips Sousa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm melinda:

I'd hear Utah Phillips Sousa! For a moment, maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm coelacanth:

Roid Rogers is good!

@AndrewWaterloo: Oh wait. I saw what you did. :/
  9:05pm JakeGould:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm coelacanth:

Hahaha! what the fuck?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm melinda:

Cheeses & Mary Jane
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Cooh John:

Yeezus. Go rest, young man.
Avatar 9:10pm Shaun(ununun):

Jimus & Bill Gillespers
  9:10pm JakeGould:

Almond Joy Division
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm coelacanth:

"cheeses and gum and mary jane", a song by Martha and the Mothers of Invention.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm coelacanth:

damn! one of these flew right over my head! (i don't want to say which one ,in case i'm the only one that doesn't get it!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm melinda:

I didn't get Jimus & Bill Gillespers, though I like the way it sounds.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm coelacanth:

that's the one! -Shaun, you may be too sophisticated for my brain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20pm coelacanth:

(...for some reason i'm hearing "Seamus & Bill Gillespers" in my head!)
  9:23pm Listener Robert:

You just touched on one of the things that bothers me about people in entertainment -- not just at WFMU, but everywhere. Maybe it's inseparable from the amount of ego that you have to have to go before an audience in any form, but it bothers me that EVEN PEOPLE WHO PUT UP A YOUTUBE are touchy about criticism. I was so disappointed to find out that a friend of mine I knew since he was just entering his teens, and who became a big TV writer-producer, is that way.

Remember, folks, no matter what criticism we may have of you that WE are the ones listening to YOU. It's not like we stand to even knock you down to "our level", because we acknowledge that we really like what you do, so don't get offended by critiques like "NPR-ish". OK, so you're not perfect.
  9:25pm JakeGould:

@coelcanth: Simple: “Luna Bar”
Avatar 9:27pm Shaun(ununun):

Jim/Will-Reid & Bobby Gillespie makes up the J&MC. Silly, really.

The Martha(diy?) & Mothers of Invention collaboration presumably went by be. So we're even?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Andrew Waterloo:

I find people in general are not very receptive to criticism. Particularly when it wasn't asked for and serves no function.
Avatar 9:29pm Shaun(ununun):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:29pm coelacanth:

ohhh, i didn't know that! Thanks. i didn't stop thinking about it!
(...Martha and the Muffins did a song called "cheeses and gum")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Andrew Waterloo:

The first rule of offering advice is not to offer advice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm coelacanth:

exactly, Andrew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm melinda:

@Andrew: yes. Unless people explicitly ask for criticism it's safe to assume it might not be appreciated.
Avatar 9:34pm Danne D:

I think it's critical to support Faye and WFMU :)
Avatar 9:34pm listener mark:

@Listener Robert It's a little bit of "sour grapes." Anyone at WFMU would sell their soul to be a National Public Radio God. Think Terry Gross, Mara Liasson, Scott Horsley, Scott Simon, Ira Glass, etc,....
Avatar 9:35pm Shaun(ununun):

no problem. I certainly wasn't trying to stump anyone. :<

my brain tried conflating, (reducing & substituting), 'Dust, Juice, Bones & Hair' (Martha) with the Mary Jane/Mothers. Way off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm coelacanth:

l. mark, that's sorta funny in it's absurdity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm melinda:

I like it when DJs accidentally reverb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm coelacanth:

that's the best kind of dj reverb!
  9:42pm JakeGould:

Add my voice the the reverb front.
Avatar 9:42pm Shaun(ununun):

  9:46pm Listener Robert:

You think so, Mark? Maybe Irene Trudel would be the one with the most comprehensive perspective on that. I could see it if they wanted to give up their day jobs.
  9:48pm Listener Robert:

You're right, Andrew, it's not just in entertainment. It's one of the things I think is a serious impediment to progress in gen'l.
  9:49pm JakeGould:

I’m looking forward to the new WFMU spring show: “The Problem with These New Kids”
  9:49pm Listener Robert:

It's true in science for sure, even though science has institutionalized the practice of criticizing each other's work mercilessly.
  9:51pm t:

first song was SO much better
  9:51pm Listener Robert:

The main reason I don't think it's sour grapes is that so many of us are so sick of NPR as listeners that it's hard to conceive or it as an aspir'n.
  9:54pm JakeGould:

Another great new spring show will be “Get Off My Lawn!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm coelacanth:

another reason is that fmu & npr have absolutely nothing to do with each-other.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm melinda:

Yes, great show Faye!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm cory:

@Jake, will that be on before "What Are Those Kids Doing Out There?
  9:58pm Carmichael:

You're welcome. Love this show.
Avatar 9:58pm Danne D:

Avatar 9:59pm Bas NL:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm cory:

congrats and thanks for all of the awesome shows!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hooray! You reached your goal! By the way, nice to see your Yo La Tengo GIF on Todd-o-phonic Todd's playlist yesterday. Next stop, Hoof 'n' Mouth!
  10:00pm Listener Robert:

Hooray for the goal-keeper!
