Avatar 3:01pm Wild Neil:

@Iwrin-greetings Irwin et al! Peace be unto you all...
  3:01pm Phil:

Irwin what was that last Brazilian sounding a capela?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Afternoon, Irwin and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Parq:

I am in favor of Facebook buttons for approbation, hubris, reproach and atrabiliousness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Michael in Seattle:

@Parq, not to mention anxiety and gluttony
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Parq:

Avatar 3:08pm Wild Neil:

@Parq-if it was the 1960's I would propose adding "grok fully" and "do not grok".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Parq:

Neil, you a fan of the old Star Trek? I reach that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Alison Porchnik:

I'm still waiting for these. Until then I'll never be able to articulate myself to the best of my abilities electronically.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Parq:

Alison, God yes!
Avatar 3:15pm Wild Neil:

@Parq-I have seen every Star Trek TOS about a gazillion times...I like it, yes. Also, have you seen Star Trek Continues on the internet? They pick up with new actors for the original roles such as Spock, Scotty, etc...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm doctorjazz:

Man, I can remember laying around my parent's living room, WABC FM on the living room control, listening to this song and really loving it! Great to hear it again. (the Chad and Jeremy)
Avatar 3:18pm Wild Neil:

Chad and Jeremy are really great! Clicky Star!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Alison Porchnik:

Unfortunately, with Trump-free Internet you lose the cats too. Improbable but true. That's the catch!
Avatar 3:23pm Monica:

make the internet great again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Sign me up Irwin!!!
Avatar 3:25pm Irwin:

No, Alison! You must've signed up for a package deal:: Trump- and Cat-Free Internet. Check with your provider. Opt back in for cats.
  3:25pm Listener142985:

just searched for ''trump free internet, cats''--got links to photos of cats made to look like Trump, fur styled like his hair! Dear god, life is hell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Parq:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Parq:

Is that an alt take of "Fugitive"? That's a Spazz favorite, but I don't remember it having that much bashing in it.
Avatar 3:29pm Irwin:

Alternate? It's a cover of the Click Kids.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My decision not to wade into Facebook keeps looking better and better.
  3:30pm flashbazbo:

Don't need no stinkin tfi

I'm just glad I have been voting against this possibility since I was 18

This was not a coup.

I love you Irwin
  3:31pm Update:

Ben Carson ... out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Parq:

Aha. Probably the Click Kids is what I'm thinking of, although I see via Search Central that Spazz also plays the Knights version.
Avatar 3:35pm northguineahills:

Chemical Bros., haven't thought of them in a few decades.
  3:38pm Laura L:

News from Planet Manhattan: NYT yesterday: The developer Jared Kushner, son-in-law of the presidential hopeful Donald J. Trump, sold the second of six loft-style apartments at Puck Penthouses, a luxury condominium his firm assembled atop the landmark Puck Building in NoLIta. At $28,511,000, the transaction was the most expensive closed sale of the week, according to city records, as well as a neighborhood record. “The buyer made a nice deal, and we made a nice deal — and we set a record with the price. You can’t beat that,” said Mr. Kushner, who is married to Mr. Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump. Monthly carrying charges total $13,705.
Avatar 3:47pm ironybread:

Just heard "Neil's Heavy Concept Album" last month for the first time. It is good. The CD reissue is recommended.
Avatar 3:52pm Irwin:

Jack DeJohnette drums!
  3:55pm Dean:

That he does.
  4:04pm Nina:

Sparrow <3
Avatar 4:12pm glenn:

cat free internet? what kind of savage wants that?
Avatar 4:18pm Irwin:

Ken had the cat-free internet for a few years -- until he got a CAT that he loved.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm doctorjazz:

Great Lee, Hard Bop heaven!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Carmichael:

Hiya Irwin and 12 year old girls. Thanks to my dog, I have a cat-free life. And I also reach, brothers Parq and Wild Neil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Carmichael:

The Circle Jerks! Great medley.
  4:41pm ledzeppelinsucks:

yeahh Circle Jerkss I saw Greg Hetson taking a piss before a Circle Jerks show and asked why Golden Shower isn't on CD He said that sounds like a good idea
Avatar 4:41pm Roberto:

Aw hell yes this is getting a gold star.
  4:43pm ?:

Hey, I saw the CJs when Golden Shower was getting a lot of airplay. The bass player was breaking strings almost every song, that impressed me. Been a long time since I heard this, sounds pretty sedate now, eh?
Avatar 4:44pm DeemerDave:

Great. Circle Jerks take a whole bunch of songs I hate and make them likable. How am I supposed to maintain my foul mood?
  4:58pm Luke:

From Coulton's site: "*Following the 2008 election, renditions of the song were updated to W's reign of terror's finally over; Obama is pretty excellent so far" Pretty excellent so far....
  5:02pm Clay Pigeon:

Irwin! It's you and me next week, man. Taking pledges and holding court. Really looking forward to it. Make sure to tune in everyone and support WFMU and the legend ... Irwin! Always remember.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm chris:

looking forward to your premium, Irwin. cats on the cover?
  5:03pm Laura L:

"Jimmy Carter says Yes" You got that one on there?
  5:04pm mason:

But is there any presidential song better than The MSR Singers' "Richard Nixon?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Alison Porchnik:

This is the only instance in which Irwin can hear the T word without exploding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Greg from ZONE 5:

"James K Polk" by They Might Be Giants, ftw
Avatar 5:05pm Irwin:

Clay, you're on with me in TWO weeks. Monica's next week.
  5:05pm P-90:

@Irwin: Really enjoying the show today, sizzling hot playlist. Even though I find myself missing Joe on the "off" weeks.
Avatar 5:06pm ironybread:

Question for anyone on the comments who's NYC-based...what's the best used record shop for getting old weird spoken word LPs? There's a poet, August Plinth, and he put out seven records of his own poetry on NYC's Vox Records in 1973. No one's got them on the internet so I think my only chance of finding them would be if they're in the bins in a store somewhere in greater NYC. All advice welcome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Alison Porchnik:

Laura: yes, and many, many, many more! (I am proud to have had a hand in discovering some of them, such as the last one played.)
  5:06pm P-90:

Monica AND Clay. An embarrassment of riches!
  5:10pm Laura L:

@AP--Hi ya--that's great! Looking forward to sending Irwin a nice pledge and receiving a copy!
Avatar 5:10pm ironybread:

There's a tune somewhere called "President Lyndon Baines Johnson!" and Firesign Theatre used it as the instrumental underscore to their alien invasion training film in "Everything You Know Is Wrong".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Alison Porchnik:

Man, where is Jimmy McMillan now that we really need him?
Avatar 5:11pm Irwin:

He's running. That's his campaign song.
Avatar 5:14pm V Priceless:

whoa - what is this piece of Crimson-coloured loveliness? Hey Irwin!
Avatar 5:15pm northguineahills:

ironybread: I'd check either Downtown Music Gallery or one of the Academy Records shops. Keep in mind, my wife has forbidden me from visiting record stores for the last 5 years, but I sneak a few every now and then....
  5:16pm A.T.F.:

I hear the lyric in my head..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Carmichael:

Then there's the Jimmy Carter song that gets lots of FMU airplay.
  5:16pm Listening Out There:

Irwin, weren't you going to have Stephen Bennett on the program at some point?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm coelacanth:

this is extraordinary.
Avatar 5:18pm Irwin:

LOT: Yes, but he had surgery at some point and couldn't schedule. I think he's OK now, but I haven't followed up.
Avatar 5:21pm ironybread:

Roger that, NorthGH. What's it like trying to find something at The Thing?
Avatar 5:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...only Amurica could create something as generous & beautiful & intricate as Jazz - & not give a sh*t about it...
Avatar 5:28pm Irwin:

C'mon, Rev, you don't have to go all sneery about your fella 'Muricans because they don't share your musical tastes. Admit it, you like being an outlier, right?
Avatar 5:30pm northguineahills:

@ironybread: I've never been inside The Thing, only perused their outside displays, so, I couldn't tell you...
Avatar 5:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I think Jazz & R&R traded places: Jazz was elitist & Rawk populist - but Rawkers look down their nose @ you if yer not their Style exactly - & Jazz people meet in tiny places & say 'Oh! - You like this too?? Hello!'...
  5:34pm A.T.F.:

Any music that sounds good sounds even better in a small club ..atmosphere
Avatar 5:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Bop was deliberately exclusive - & Rawk gets beyond alienated & nihilist, (even tho' it's Party music. Odd isn't it?)...so Cool you freeze to Death...groups & individual identity is an Aquarian Age thang....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm coelacanth:

(i'm surprised no one mentioned "let's talk about jesse" by melle mel.)
  5:46pm ram:

  5:46pm ram:

This is over 20 years oñd and still sounds excellent!
  5:52pm A.T.F.:

Anybody given the name Duke at birth would have to be cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm coelacanth:

haha! actually he was given the name : "Irving Sidney" at birth!
