Avatar 3:20pm MattD:

Evening. Well, in the UK anyway. Listening to 2 different shows right now - works very nicely. Half considering putting a record on too...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Cliff:

Good afternoon everyone.....I was grumbling to myself about the US elections, then turned on WFMU to see that "Vote Robot" is playing. Good job Fabio
  3:20pm matt:

I vote robot! is that allowed?
Avatar 3:20pm V Priceless:

Rev! How it goes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm Cliff:

I'll vote robot too, as long as we get to program it
Avatar 3:20pm Wild Neil:

@Fabio-can you play something that is especially good for new headphones? I now have a a right AND a left channel! Woo!
Avatar 3:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The problem is, folks usually DO vote robot.
....critical difference is, I'll vote for THIS robot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Cliff:

I'm voting for the burning robot, if he makes it far enough
Avatar 3:23pm βrian:

I'm in phase now. Awaiting instructions.

The last time I voted robot, I regretted its kill all humans policy, but, I'll give robot another try.
  3:28pm Brainiac:

We are on the eve of a tremendous new chapter in history and boy are my palms sweaty. We stand together on the precipice of the howling void trying desperately to remember why we shouldn’t jump. But it’s hard to think over all this howling so lets put aside all the pesky reasoning that divides us as a nation and come together in mindless unity. Let the screaming vocals of Burzum covering Mr. Giant Man in double time be the soundtrack of our demise. With just one step we take the glorious plunge into the bottomless cistern of doom. I’m leaning into it. With a demonic grin I let gravity deliver me to my fate, but I don’t want to go alone.

I wanna hold your yaaarrghh.

– Trump ’16
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Alejandroool:

time for failure
Avatar 3:29pm Wild Neil:

@Brainiac-the increased speed at which strange new stories appear in the news (which is like realtime history being made) scare the pants off of me. Better go get my pants now...
  3:30pm Dean:

I did not have sex with that cherry tree.

- George Clinton, Founding Dog
  3:30pm Clay:

I challenge you to a duel. In the past, you have come close to beating me because I was inexperienced. Now, I have studied your ways! I have uncovered the secret musical passions of the listeners. I know about Warm Leatherette and Einsterstuden Neubraten. Bear in mind that as your challenger, I will receive 100 bonus points going in. As in the past, I will keep the score, in the interest of keeping things fair. Listeners will be allowed to award points, but I will moderate to make sure points awarded are valid and/or deserved.
  3:30pm greysquad:

Is it "vote" robot? or a robot that "votes"... you know, like the robots that have been programmed to vote for Trump?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Cliff:

Clay, you know about the Collapsing Newbuildings? Good for you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Alejandroool:

Good afternoon all - wait a minute caffeinated peppermints??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Cliff:

greysquad: Yes
Avatar 3:32pm Wild Neil:

Trump is likely to be murdered. He wears a bullet proof vest and does not button up his jacket because of it...he has received so many death threats...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Marathon premium info: www.wfmu.org... "Strength Through Failure presents Dream Sequence - A collection of music from Fabio’s dream archives. Music and sounds from beyond the subconscious…"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Cliff:

Wild Neil: I gather you're about 20-30 years older than me (I'm 37) and you won't be around before the shit really hits the fan. You think YOU'RE scared...
  3:33pm P-90:

Former Presidente of Mexico Vicente Fox just gave an interview in which he said someone should tell Trump no way Mexico is ever "paying for that fucking wall" he keeps talking about...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Cliff:

Anyways, it's looks like I'll be able to escape to Prague this summer before Robot Trump gets elected.
  3:35pm Tony:

Is "Einsterstuden Neubraten" some kind of German sausage?
  3:36pm Fredericks:

Did some bed music get loose, Fabio?
Avatar 3:36pm Wild Neil:

@Cliff-I am almost 50 and a newly minted Catholic. Very very very conservative red pill guy. I am VERY aware the shit could hit the fan like , later this year. Good luck in Europe I hope its better. Hillary will win anyway. The establishment will NOT let Trump be president. No way. He will shake things up too much for the corrupt bought for policiticans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm Cliff:

Wild Neil: Trump actually has some reasonable positions compared to the other Republican buffoons, but his pandering xenophobia makes me ill
Avatar 3:38pm northguineahills:

@Tony: It's what they serve incoming students at universities in Germany.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Cliff:

Hillary's platform is basically "it's my turn", if she ends up getting nominated then I won't bother to vote for any of the robots
  3:40pm Dean:

OTOH, einsturzende sauerbraten is that gastric disturbance one acquires after consuming too much sausage and sauerkraut.
  3:41pm greysquad:

FEEL the roboBern!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Cliff:

I can't consistently spell Einsturz.....whatever, so I just call them the Collapsing Newbuildings

Wild Neil: my Mom's side of the family is conservative Catholic, so I get where you're coming from.
  3:42pm P-90:

Guys, if you add the votes all the other Republicans have receved in the primaries, even GOP voters are voting more than 2 to 1 against Trump. Then add the total number of votes in the Dem primaries, and you see an electorate that is already strongly opposed to Trump as a candidate. Perhaps even disgusted by the whole idea.
  3:42pm matt:

I just barely survived WNYC's fundraiser this morning. Failure pulled me through.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm sphere:

funny enough, my dad is further left than i am. good afternoon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Carmichael:

Heya Fab and cohorts. It will be Hillary this year. I have already been there and saw it. Vice president Sanders, though, passes away of old age shortly after the election and is replaced by a vote robot, which nominates itself several times.
  3:46pm Brian in New Orleans...:

Checking in !!!
  3:46pm P-90:

@matt: I have arrived at a point of absolute zero tolerance for NPR fundraising. I forego listening completely until drives are over.
Avatar 3:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Might be voting expat this year.
It's a fantasy, anyway.
Avatar 3:47pm Wild Neil:

@P-90 Yeah that's one way of looking at it-Trump does not even have a simple majority, right? Well, he IS leading and nobody wants to drop out and lose out NOR (to a smaller motivation) want to give away their suppor to Trump. But hey a win is a win. We shall see. Our Oligarchical Robot Masters wish it to be ,so it shall...NPR pretends to be objective like all the media.
Avatar 3:48pm Wild Neil:

Robot masters want Hillary...that is...
Avatar 3:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Agreed, P-90 @3:46. Although my local NPR programming has become so wretched of late, I've weaned off it almost entirely.
Avatar 3:49pm Wild Neil:

@Fabio-cool show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm Cliff:

Agreed, so sick of the media trying to brainwash us that Hillary's getting it no matter what, so there's no point in even thinking of an alternative
Avatar 3:53pm Wild Neil:

@Cliff-bravo for seeing that! She and her husband have had people murdered I am sure of it...
Avatar 3:54pm TDK60:

I really dig this Supersilent album. They're from Iceland? Norway?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Alejandroool:

NPR is similar to CBC here... watered down programming has become the norm - except CBC doesn't do any funding drives, they just kept getting government cuts to their funding
Avatar 3:56pm TDK60:

I looked it up: Norway.
Avatar 3:57pm Wild Neil:

NPR to me is like Radio Troika in Poland...an excellent source of music but totally communist, Would never give them a red cent but will listen....I DO donate to FMU though, as the music is so great and I don'nt give a crap about anybody's politics here...as there is no discrenable agenda anyway....
Avatar 3:58pm TDK60:

Oh, Trump is a pig.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Michael in Seattle:

@Wild Neil: how's this for a headphone work-out?
  3:59pm Brainiac:

@Wild Neil red cent. Good one.
Avatar 4:00pm V Priceless:

if, by some nightmare scenario, Trump wins, I'm leaving the USA for someplace tropical, preferably with a robot butler.
Avatar 4:02pm Wild Neil:

Michael in Seattle-pretty good headphone workout!
V Priceless-again, Hillary is going to win, the Robots have decided. Give in to the robots before its too late...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Michael in Seattle:

@V: whatever happens, it's not gonna be a pretty future
Avatar 4:04pm Wild Neil:

@Fabio-all good for headphones here!
Avatar 4:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

brainphones. happy.
and yes. caffeinated peppermints.
any minute now I should be able to see the marrow in the bones of god.
Avatar 4:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...whatever 'god' is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm chris:

@Wild Neil - re: wfmu political agenda, you clearly have not seen this - blog.wfmu.org... - its too late for me, i'm already converted and now i'm gonna vote for Bernie. but its not too late for you, run away now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Cliff:

Irwin is a Republican.......a very frustrated one, these days
  4:11pm flashbazbo:

How. How how could this be??
  4:13pm Brainiac:

In a world where DJ Stan now has a playlist... anything is possible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Michael in Seattle:

The Tail of the Scorpion. cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm coelacanth:

greetings Fabio and fellow failures
  4:16pm flashbazbo:

Ok. Who's been dipping into the burzum a little too much lately?
4:18pm Dr Narco the intelligent sponge:

Oh, me! I have. What do I win?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm Ken From Hyde Park:

It's going to take 3 or 4 months for Trump's people to get his tax info in order? Can't wait!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm Cliff:

Heh, the guy did manage to lose, and then make back, billions of dollars
Avatar 4:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm chris:

some reading on trump's $$$ - www.vanityfair.com... and www.alternet.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Michael in Seattle:

According to IMDB "!" is "Mission Stardust (1967)"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm chris:

really enjoyed that last set, fabio! complimenti!
Avatar 4:36pm geezerette:

Trump is rump to a T.
How can any of the things that are actually happening...be happening? LA has three seasons now: Summer, one week of Fall, two weeks of Spring, and then Summer again. We call Summer "Fire Season".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Rich in Washington:

Mission Stardust is a trippy film. I need to see it again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Michael in Seattle:

@geezerette: if our winters get any warmer, i'm gonna start growing date palms.
Avatar 4:40pm TDK60:

It's good you mention Anthology Film Archives -- great place for movies.
Avatar 4:42pm geezerette:

@Michael in Seattle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Priscilla:

Che bella lingua
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Michael in Seattle:

@Rich, never saw that film, unfortunately. But the director, Primo Zeglio, seems to have a long list, including an Italian "Texas Ranger," and "Slave Queen of Babylon." He died in 1984.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Rich in Washington:

I am a sucker for Italian Sci Fi, so I had to see it. Can't remember if the soundtrack led me to it or vice versa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Carmichael:

It's times like these that make me proud to say I'm a registered independent.
Avatar 4:49pm northguineahills:

This really doesn't sound like anything like I've heard from Sverrisson before...
4:51pm Dr Narco the intelligent sponge:

This isn't Skuli. It's a direct feed from inside Fabio's skull.
Avatar 4:52pm Fabio:

@ northguineahills: it's not, that was the end of the last set. I just entered what has been up since my break: Trans vita....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Tome:

this is really great man
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Nardo:

Ditto last comment
  4:59pm P-90:

Il "Trans Vita Express" è affascinante! Devo sentire di più la loro musica.
Avatar 4:59pm northguineahills:

Ahhh, should have known, the typical comments board failure. Went out for some lunch, and turned on the WFMUer, and missed the mic break. Thanks Fabio!
  5:01pm Maria Henriquez:

Listening from Birmingham Uk!
Great show!
Avatar 5:04pm TDK60:

Play a cassette! Digital is a big yawn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Michael in Seattle:

C-30, C-60, C-90 go!
  5:08pm P-90:

@Fabio: Ben parlato in italiano! I knew you had just slipped momentarily before, when you called Mastroianni "Mar-sell-o" instead of "Mar-chell-o".
Avatar 5:09pm TDK60:

@ Yay Michael. I still make mix tapes, for the few friends who have tape decks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Mike East:

Damn, this is badass!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Cliff:

Loving this Igor Wakhévitch!

I just got back from the groshry store where I bought some POM pommygranate juice. Always makes me think of the Monty Python "Bruce" sketch: youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Tome:

bit.ly... < wow for that amount ,, 40 years ago you could buy a "decent" deck man ,,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Cliff:

Waitaminute, the playlist just changed, what were we just listening to before with the wailing guitars?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Cliff:

Cuz it was cool. I guess it was the Ulaan Khol
Avatar 5:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

jeezoflip this is marvelous.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm coelacanth:

TDK@5:04 i'm confident that you can sympathise when i say i'm very slightly hopeful that tdk will get back into cassettes. i tried so many but nothing really even came close to the quality of a tdk sa or d.
i used mostly 90s & 100s. most of those hundreds still play/sound great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Cliff:

Ok, now that we're really hearing Igor Wakhévitch he sounds cool too. I will keep the favoritey star thingey activated
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm coelacanth:

Fabio did you get into the catnip?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Michael in Seattle:

une créature légendaire à corne unique
Avatar 5:24pm MenfussMike:

there is a reason cassettes are not readily in production anymore
Avatar 5:24pm TDK60:

coelacanth: I think TDK still makes tapes. Maxells seem more readily available.
Avatar 5:24pm dale:

coelacanth - have you tried recotons? kidding.
Avatar 5:28pm Marcel M:

This is awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm coelacanth:

dale, yes and...You Must Be!!
TDK, i've looked. maybe the internet hasn't caught wind of that?
-i do see lots of unopened old ones for sale -which are good if they've been stored well (i haven't tried yet. they're not really inexpensive); but haven't come across any new ones. (?)
Avatar 5:30pm TDK60:

Yes Marcel, awesome. I also like S.O.O.A. much.
Avatar 5:30pm Marcel M:

Oh I thought this sounded familiar, I have this Parallelogram set. Really cool collection.
  5:31pm Dean:

Nakamichi, the cassettes and the Dragon double-well player-recorder.
Avatar 5:32pm TDK60:

I get tapes from a local candy/magazine/lottery shop; usually Maxells, occasionally TDKs. They may have been sitting in a warehouse for years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm coelacanth:

...i always thought maxell put more energy into fancy appearance and gimmicks than a solid tape. i have a few from the 80s that sound excellent; but i have 1-2 hundred that either sound like shit or failed in other ways.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Cliff:

coelacanth: sounds like they may be good source material for this show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Carmichael:

I use metal TDK tapes. Decades later, the music still sticks to the tape, so I don't have to bake them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm coelacanth:

Cliff, i do still use them for their twisted and sour goodness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Mike East:

Split w/ William Tyler, eh? May have to look into this...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Rich in Washington:

most of the TDK tapes I have had for 30+ years seem to be still in really great shape, even their bottom of the line non-metal tapes.
Avatar 5:36pm TDK60:

Mike, yeah a split of S.O.O.A. & Tyler is a groovy thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm coelacanth:

Carmichael, i've never done that. i have some tdk "m" from back in the day. they all sound muffled. maybe that would help?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Rich in Washington:

I agree on Maxell. They just didn't seem to have the longevity. It seemed like they would deteriorate really fast for their supposed quality.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Carmichael:

@coel: a convection oven set at a very low temp will re-stick the oxides long enough for you to transfer the sound intact to a different medium. It's not meant as a long-term solution. And don't use a regular oven ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm coelacanth:

...but then, most of my "m"s are 110s. there're other ways for them to fail. they might not be worth the trouble.
  5:40pm Neanderthal Head:

That poster of the reluctant corporate yuppie getting his hair blown back by the Maxell sound probably sold a billion tapes by itself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Music sticks so well to Metal tapes you couldn't erase & tape over them - learned the hard way...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...longer tape lengths meant thinner tape & worse quality? The tape equivalent of 45 v. 33+1/3...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm coelacanth:

Thanks Carmichael. i have to ask around for a convection oven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm coelacanth:

N-Head -yeah! they had a great ad campaign.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Cliff:

I'm so glad I'm younger enough that I don't have to deal with baking my music in a convection oven
Avatar 5:46pm TDK60:

Deja vu? Did we have a similar Tape Talk here before? Or was that another show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm coelacanth:

"ride of the valkyries" was the music in those ads that i recall.
Avatar 5:47pm βrian:

I warm my tapes on an induction cooktop.
  5:48pm nic:

great show bye
  5:49pm P-90:

The Only Ones predicted Donald Trump.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm coelacanth:

TDK, you may be correct. i may even have initiated it then too!
Avatar 5:51pm TDK60:

No Fab, it's not just you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm (Rā) Fox:

I've been trying to figure out a way that we, as a population that despises Trump, could do to render him legally penniless. Any ideas?
  5:52pm Dean:

C'mon. You want Trump elected so the House of Representatives can shout, "You're impeached!"
Avatar 5:52pm TDK60:

Coelacanth: Don't be sorry. I could talk tapes for months. But I gotta go finish this mix tape for a friend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm coelacanth:

if you took him out with a judo deflection it's worth telling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Cliff:

I grew up in Syracuse, we didn't have nobody named Randy around here neither
Avatar 5:53pm Marcel M:

Anyone worth a damn now was messed with in HS.

I saw that video.. Clay was AWESOME for Wild of the Wind.

I also befriended the bullies by the end. You realize it just doesn't matter once you get older and all smoke weed/drink.
Avatar 5:54pm Marcel M:

I would hint that I was gay and hit on the jocks/bullies which made them fear me a bit.
  5:54pm P-90:

"Bully", "Bro", Big-mouth". Thats Trump in a nutshell. Fab just nailed it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Cliff:

But a lot like Brooklyn, we had Italians, Irish, Polish, Blacks, Puerto Ricans, and a few Jewish kids on the East Side
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Carmichael:

I was born in Ireland. All we had were a bunch of Irish kids, and the occasional Brit.
