Every show starts with the ’70s! We’ll rediscover forgotten rockers, revisit unfairly maligned disco beats and replay power-pop favorites. Next: plenty of new releases, occasional live bands and more. Don’t let the nickname confuse you.

Listener comments!

  9:04pm jon:

hi efd and funksters. the 70s start always puts a smile on my face.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm efd:

thanks jon! Happy to have you here.
  9:09pm Will:

Hey is that Julian Cope?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm efd:

not as far as I know! This was out around the same time Teardrop Explodes was starting, so I think it's just the sound of the time, in a way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Figgsrock:

Oh man, I had forgotten how great this Redd Kross track was!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm Stevel:

Killer Redd Kross. Nasty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16pm efd:

it's a great one!
Avatar 9:23pm Loretta:

hi Evan!! & fellow listeners..... looking forward to the show tonight.
  9:23pm JakeGould:

Hey! Thank you Joe Reda!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Bootsie:

I liked that Saucy Jacks track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Above found the hook ! Wanna hear the rest of the EP now...
  9:43pm Eddy in Australia:

Hi Evan, Steve and all.
Re. Saucy Jacks: Tilbrook and Difford can't get no satisfaction?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm efd:

Hi Eddy! Sorry but my brain is not processing your comment right now -- could be simply due to being in the throes of the show.
  9:52pm Eddy in Australia:

Oh! I thought the vocals sound a bit like Squeeze, while the riff sounds like the Stones.
By the way, Trevor White is kinda curious. There seems to be some conjecture online over whether he is the same guy who played Jesus in the '70s Australian production of JCS.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Stevel:

Hey Eddy!

Scraper was pretty sharp. Displaying a bit of edge tonight.
Avatar 10:00pm Todd-o-phonic:

Oh Jesus, I broadcast out of there about every other week. Stop crying. It's a poor craftsman that blames his tools. Looking forward to co-hosting your marathon show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Stevel:

CD3 has no taste. Love pre-marathon adjustments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm efd:

One day I'll be as good as you, Todd.
Avatar 10:12pm Todd-o-phonic:

Wow, within moments of making my snide comment all the power went out in our building for a bit. I knew you were powerful but I had no idea how powerful! YOU ARE COMPLETELY RIGHT ABOUT STUDIO B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please ignore my snide instagram comment, I beseech of you kind sir!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13pm efd:

That was just a warning, Todd.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Stevel:

X-Men IVVX: The Great DJ Wars.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Uncle Michael:

I'll never be as good as anybody but at least I get to use Studio A during the Marathon.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Bootsie:

@Eddy in Australia re Saucy Jacks: vocally they reminded me a bit of the Rembrandts.
  10:32pm JakeGould:

I’ve been saying this all day… WE NEED A BIGGER NAVY!!!
  10:35pm JakeGould:

News Flash! “I had nothing to do with breaking up The Beatles. And I think Paul McCartney is a pretty cool dude.” www.rappler.com...
Avatar 10:39pm FernandoBelmondo:

Hi Evan!
Getting in late, but I know you still got plenty of goodys for the rest of the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Uncle Michael:

(wakes up)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:43pm Uncle Michael:

Yes...six hours.

Jukebox party the second half.
Avatar 10:47pm Todd-o-phonic:

Evan please don't scare people away from Pat's show Saturday night. Gaylord is not a "musical guest", he will be dj'ing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm efd:

ha- that's what I get for reading too fast!

Thanks for the clarification, UM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm axlotl:

omg, that ELO was amazing.
  10:51pm JakeGould:

Tones on Tail!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Bootsie:

I'm sure my upstairs neighbors are now wondering why I just randomly yelled "GO!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks for the plug, EFD!
  11:02pm JakeGould:

Holy shit, EFD! Nailing it this set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm jmd:

  11:14pm Trisha M. Van:

This is so good!!
  11:14pm JakeGould:

Creaky Chair! YES!!!
  11:15pm Listener Johnny:

Ponytail by Justin Trouble is the best rock & roll song of all time, no shiat slick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Bootsie:

Sparks, YES!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm Ken From Hyde Park:

For the sake of experiment, I thought I'd wash the mid-week clothes before midnight for a change. Seems to be working well; I don't have to put them into the dryer in the middle of the night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm efd:

I have to admit I'm intrigued by the concept of "mid-week clothes."
  11:41pm JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: Mazel Tov!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I usually run a load on the weekend and start off with all clean clothes on Monday. Then I run another load in the middle of the work week. "Mid-week clothes" was probably not the best phrasing. Time now to pour a Mazel Tov cocktail to celebrate.
  11:49pm kWitch:

What is that track you're playing between sets? It's got the groove.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52pm efd:

Thanks for the explanation, KfHP!

kWitch, the talkover music is a loop of "Saturday Night Fever" by the Lordz of Brooklyn, from the early '90s, which includes a sample of the Guess Who's "American Woman."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, EFD. Dutchess County, NY, was spared. Yay, me!
