Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

no more clinton no more bush howdy clay!
Avatar 6:03pm Marcel M:

Yo Clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm melinda:

Democrats like Kasich?
  6:03pm Tommy:

Clay, you're talking to an idiot , move on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm melinda:

hi Clay! Dig the Mathis.
Avatar 6:04pm Cecile:

First and best version.
  6:04pm JakeGould:

Wild is the wind… So cold out in NY/NJ today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Evening, gang!
Avatar 6:04pm Cecile:

Billy McKenzie from the Associates also recorded a striking version of this song.
  6:04pm Tommy:

Nina Simone owns it
Avatar 6:05pm glenn:

clay talks to idiots every week. they're almost always republicans.
  6:05pm SeanG:

any hot downloads?
  6:05pm P-90:

Hi Clay! I find this first American to be likable, earnest, and provincial in a way that's very representative of millions of others like him.
Avatar 6:05pm dale:

this first version of witw doesn't have the emotion the simone or bowie version has
  6:05pm Old Dave:

WSJ today proposing Bloomberg as 3rd party candidate. Self-funded of course! How about that?
Avatar 6:06pm Honeybear:

@Seang: this Johnny Mathis track is pretty hot
  6:06pm Dean:

I wonder if the lyrics to this song inspired Rod Stewart's "Mandolin Wind"...
Avatar 6:06pm Cecile:

no, but it's sung perfectly, and his voice just floats over the melody.
  6:06pm JakeGould:

@Old Dave: Bloomberg (Boston) versus Trump (Queens, NY) versus Sanders (Brooklyn, NY).
  6:06pm Tommy:

Caly stop talking to republicans or I'm going to get frugal with you in the marathon ...not really
Avatar 6:06pm V Priceless:

Hey Claybo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm SeanG:

Avatar 6:08pm V Priceless:

abowie, SeanG, abowie!
Avatar 6:08pm Honeybear:

That's what I like about Clay -- he can talk to anybody.
  6:09pm P-90:

When that first interviewee said he "hasn't figured out yet if universal health care is really a 'right'", I wanted to ask him if he was aware that we've fallen behind the rest of the modernized, industrialized world on taking that step?
  6:09pm Old Dave:

@Jake- as a sport, you mean? Or do any have a personal philosophy?
We divide the population and play a game on TV?
  6:09pm Tommy:

Do these people know anything about John Kasich
Avatar 6:10pm Marcel M:

  6:10pm fRED:

Hot Licks!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm coelacanth:

wild is the wind : wfmu.org...
Avatar 6:11pm dale:

hillary is too cavalier about the things people question about her. and her speechifying is really simple and didactic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm melinda:

@P-90: sometimes I think people who don't support 'healthcare as a right' are being too literal (and dense) because it isn't listed in the bill of rights. As if it needs to be.
Avatar 6:12pm drewo:

It's very sad mainstream media gives little or no shrift to any other political parties besides Coke and Pepsi.

Thanks for the Dan Hicks. Was fortunate to see him a few years ago here in Tucson.
  6:12pm P-90:

WSJ would just love to see Bloomberg split the Democrat vote. He doesn"t need that rag's advice, he'll keep his own counsel and make the smartest decision in the end.
  6:13pm V Priceless:

Yay Dan Hicks! RIP
  6:13pm JakeGould:

@OldDave: Eh.
Avatar 6:14pm Polyus:

Japan? Is he serious?
  6:14pm Tommy:

I have to tune out Clay , cant' take it
Avatar 6:14pm dale:

how do we beat these countries if we can't do it cheaper? china has no human rights or environmental laws...
Avatar 6:15pm Clay Pigeon:

Take care, Tommy. Stop by again.
  6:16pm Old Dave:

P-90 answers that question. Thanks!
Avatar 6:16pm dale:

if bloomberg were to win he'd overturn the law to get a third term.
  6:16pm Dean:

This woman is terrific.
  6:16pm JakeGould:

Avatar 6:16pm glenn:

make quality products. look at germany and sweden. stuff doesn't have to be cheap.
Avatar 6:17pm dale:

i'd buy that for a dollar!
  6:18pm JakeGould:

@dale: China has all of our dollars! Wake up, sheeple!
Avatar 6:19pm glenn:

hmmmm. i'm pretty sure most of the hard working men and women of new york are "liberals".
  6:22pm Dean:

So he loves the lottery? Jamaica doesn't have one?
Avatar 6:24pm dale:

i used to listen to this frank black cd all the time. good driving music. make you a bit crazy, but still.
  6:24pm J:

Not to change the subject, but are the shows in the archives the Dustier Shows?( No one said there would be math!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Fuzzy:

Whatever happened to Kim?
  6:26pm JakeGould:

@Fuzzy: You mean what’s the “deal” with Kim? *rimshot*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Fuzzy:

@Jake: nyuk!
  6:27pm Old Dave:

Next question- How do I politely stop my billionare boss from pronouncing statistics about "food stamps" (now called SNAP) as I drive him to his flight to Palm Beach? Is $4.50 per recipient per day really killing our economy?
I looked it up. It is a large percent of our Dept of Ag budget, yes. but in terms of National budget it is around 2% including the farm subsidies.
Defense spending is about 60% of the total, apparently. So who is able to complain unless they have a way to make a profitable way to survive on $4.50 a day?
Avatar 6:28pm glenn:

oh god. carly fiorina's crazier than palin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm SeanG:

yummy fetus brains
Avatar 6:28pm Marcel M:

Woah... her bf is pretty wacked out.
  6:29pm Dean:

Politely? How about, "Shut the fuck up, please."?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm coelacanth:

not a Hendrix quote! David Crosby.
Avatar 6:30pm BEAVO:

Somebody harvested Carly's brain
Avatar 6:31pm dale:

loved the american masters show on bing. never knew he was such a womanizing drunk.
  6:31pm A.T.F.:

Freak Parade beats a freak flag...
Avatar 6:32pm BEAVO:

The old groaner
  6:32pm J:

It (SNAP) makes billionaires crazy because unlike defense there is no way to make more billions on it.
Avatar 6:32pm glenn:

wasn't everybody in the forties a womanizing drunk? except for the ladies. they were manizers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm coelacanth:

a womanizing, woman and child-abusing drunk, that is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm chris:

made it! whew! and yeah, Old Dave, here's another vote for Dean's suggestion
Avatar 6:33pm BEAVO:

Million dollar baby brain
Avatar 6:34pm glenn:

old dave, ask your boss if he knows how much you're paying to subsidize ethanol, the biggest scam i can think of.
Avatar 6:34pm dale:

it was all that minute maid orange juice he drank. they were really harvey wallbangers he drank in those commercials
Avatar 6:36pm Polyus:

Digging this Aardvark already.
  6:36pm steuben:

aw, but I love when you sing along, clay!
  6:37pm JakeGould:

I can’t stand this Aardvark. Thumbs down! Where is my “RateThatProg.com” website?
  6:37pm Listener Robert:

Mr. Pigeon's ear must be as bad as I thought if he thinks Sinatra wanted to be Crosby. Crosby is like Sinatra singing thru a sock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm SeanG:

go bernie!
Avatar 6:37pm Marcel M:

An artful Schmear? I want one a those!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm coelacanth:

ethanol may not be as big a scam as flouride.
Avatar 6:39pm Clay Pigeon:

bad as you thought .. hahaha! Crosby was a god when Frank was still in knee-pants. He turned creepy later, but he was hugely influential on many. Good to see you Listener Robert!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm coelacanth:

Trump isn't too much; he's too little.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:39pm chris:

flouride is a great example! an industrial byproduct with no value whatsoever becomes madated to be added to public drinking water... et viola, industrial waste becomes massive profit
  6:40pm A.T.F.:

ethanol at more then 10% screws up your auto
  6:41pm Old Dave:

Glenn- What? The car, the gas and so much more are expensed to various LLCs. There is no cost! That is the whole beauty of their world.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm coelacanth:

"texting" is another great scam. it costs the "providers" virtually nothing.
  6:42pm A.T.F.:

Good bass
  6:43pm JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Yup. Like that old “touch tone” fee from the 1980s. 100% pure profit.
  6:45pm A.T.F.:

I had party line tele 1996
Avatar 6:45pm glenn:

how has rubio managed to hoodwink all these people? he's as bad as cruz.
  6:46pm Listener Robert:

Mr. Pigeon, Sinatra may have looked up to Crosby when he was young, but it was just Crosby's commercial success he admired. If Sinatra had wanted to sing LIKE Crosby, he'd've had to get some bad dental work, smoke a lot more, and not practice so much.
  6:48pm Listener Robert:

Besides, it's more fun arguing singers than politics.
  6:49pm A.T.F.:

I second that LR
Avatar 6:49pm Polyus:

Wore this album out, Clay. Possibly my favorite of hers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Andrew Waterloo:

Texting essentially takes advantage of an box that you were going to receive anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Three cheers for the 1%, I guess?
  6:51pm Listener Robert:

Yes, Crosby was influential, but are you saying it was a GOOD influence?
  6:53pm A.T.F.:

Arent 1%ers a bike club?
  6:54pm steve from berg:

man, your show is splendid!
Avatar 6:55pm Clay Pigeon:

TY Steve! Gotta run everyone. Thanks so much for being here. See you next time. Always remember ... Dan Hicks.
  6:55pm steve from berg:

i agree with glenn
  6:56pm Old Dave:

Canada welcome you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm chris:

thanks, Clay! always great to get to listen to your show.
  6:56pm fRED:

Your (wo)man on the street interviews are the best Clay
Avatar 6:57pm glenn:

who are we welcoming?
Avatar 6:57pm dale:

really robert? crosby was a god. bigger than elvis even.
  6:57pm JakeGould:

I wonder if someone in Canada is taking note of this election and wondering what to do with all of these American’s moving higher up north.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm melinda:

The woman who will flee the US if Trump wins. Canada doesn't want us though.
Avatar 6:57pm glenn:

just bring warm coats.
Avatar 6:58pm glenn:

oh, and brush up on hockey.
  6:58pm A.T.F.:

And a lighter
Avatar 6:59pm dale:

.....and candlepin bowling.
  7:00pm P-90:

EVERYone, including Sinatra, admired Crosby, NOT just for his success (what revisionism!) but for his technique and ability to connect with audiences
  7:00pm Listener Robert:

Dale, hi-fi made Crosby sound WORSE.
  7:01pm P-90:

...and thanks, Clay!
  1:37pm Spratacus:

this was a great Dusty Show!!
  6:56pm Steve:
