  Fri. 2/5/16 3:06pm modchick65:

@MattWW... Hey Hey La La is a GREAT band name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:06pm JakeGould:

If rock and roll were a record it would be $10 on Discogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:08pm Matt ww:

If I were a rock and roll record i'd be in the dollar bin
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:08pm P-90:

It's Sheila B, bringin' the Boom Boom big time! Hi Sheila!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:09pm Guido from Cologne:

hello Sheila
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:09pm Joe R.:

NRBQ covered that Teresa Brewer song when I saw them a few months ago and it was AWESOME
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:09pm modchick65:

I thought this was Kirsty MacColl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:10pm JakeGould:

@Matt ww: You would be easy to flip to the B-side, right? *rimshot*
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:10pm Matt ww:

TOO SOON
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:12pm JakeGould:

I'm flipping you the bird right now
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:13pm djsheilab:

@Greg from Zone 5 No set about records would be complete without it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:13pm JakeGould:

Okay, okay… Don’t flip your lid!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:15pm Ken From Hyde Park:

A view looking down on the crane tipping over this morning. twitter.com... First it starts falling over. Then it falls over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:15pm The Contessa:

Love this. So sad
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:17pm JakeGould:

@djsheilab: I think you forgot the album title from the Bull Moose Jackson track “Big Ten Inch Record”: “Well Hung Out to Dry.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:18pm JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: In high school in the 1980s I used to work at 40 Worth Street. Crappy clerk job but it was a good summer job. Good think I don’t work there any more because being a clerk for that long who got crushed by a crane would be one sad epitaph.
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:20pm mg:

"I lived in my bedroom. All of us did". I so adore this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:21pm djsheilab:

This so perfectly + beautifully details our relationship with music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:21pm JakeGould:

“Rush” has little meaning to me nowadays since I exited puberty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:22pm drewo:

Been listening to some recent Dexy's - sounds good if you like classic 1st LP Dexy's.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:24pm Uncle Michael:

I lied.
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:26pm modchick65:

Kings of Convenience... I thought this was This Is Ivy League. Nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:27pm Jeff:

I *thought* that sounded Kings of Convenience busy channeling S&G-type harmonies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:33pm Greg from ZONE 5:

That's funny—first thing I thought when I heard "records about records" was "McGasko".
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:34pm P-90:

I just CAN'T belueve that Bleecker Bob's is gone. It's maybe the one single long-standing festure of the Manhattan landscape that is gone, that I CAN'T believe is gone. Every time someone mentions that it's gone, I have this spasm of anger/ denial/grief...
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:35pm Brendan:

What's happenin' boomboomers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:36pm djsheilab:

Here is Joe's set from Monday: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:36pm JakeGould:

@P-90: My mind was blown in the 1990s when I discovered the “nice” deli I liked on Park Avenue South used to be Max’s Kansas City.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:37pm JakeGould:

Which is to say if you make a list of places in NYC that are no longer, it‘s one sad reflection of how little this city actually cares about it’s modern cultural history.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:37pm βrian:

This tomato-bisque background really calls for a sprig of fresh dill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:37pm Swan_Gone:

Totally great pop jam I would not have heard otherwise! Thanks!
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:38pm modchick65:

I liked that Niki & the Dove song. It reminded me of the 80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:38pm Adrian in London:

Ooh, Kim was just on TV on a TOTP 81 rerun
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:39pm listener james from westwood:

Whoa, I thought that was Kim Wilde, but I'd never heard this cut before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:39pm djsheilab:

@Adrian in London I can't get enough of Kim. So many excellent, under-rated records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:40pm Swan_Gone:

The laundromat I wash at plays a lot of Kim Wilde... and I ain't mad at it
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:40pm Stevel:

Always liked Kim Wilde, and rarely even tire of Kids in America.

So, djsheilab, are you a Missing Persons fan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:41pm Adrian in London:

She seems like fun in interviews and whatnot
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:42pm Brendan:

I wish my laundromat had music. And a bar. That would be ideal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:42pm Adrian in London:

Ooh, this Sylvan track is great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:42pm djsheilab:

@Stevel I don't know much by Missing Persons. Any pointers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:43pm Cliff:

Hello Sheila and everybody, just tuning in
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:45pm Adrian in London:

@DJSheilaB Was that the original 7 of Sylvan? It's never been sold on Dscogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:46pm Baumer!:

Love this Rosey Grier track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:46pm djsheilab:

Yup @Adrian, that's an original I just played. I found it years ago when I was living in London in 1997.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:47pm Stevel:

Dale Bozzio had a Lauper-ish voice and could pop out super high notes that I found just swell. Walking in LA was their hit. Terry Bozzio, her husband, was the drummer, also played drums for Zappa on Sheik Yerbouti and Joe's Garage. Sharp new-wave pop.

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:48pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:48pm Stevel:

Avatar Fri. 2/5/16 3:49pm geezerette:

pink champagne was the cause of it all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:49pm Scott Williams:

2nding Stevel here, Mental Hopscotch is killer! Big hits were Destination Unknown and Words
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:49pm P-90:

DJ Joe McG. does an exemplary job, he's a reliable antidote to the Monday morning blues.
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:50pm Brendan:

Mint Julep Listerine w/ Tartar Sauce Control
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:51pm Stevel:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 3:58pm Cliff:

"Czech Up", heheh
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:58pm Yvang:

For sure Dorothee on WFMU will produce very extreme reactions among your french listeners either positive or negative.
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:58pm modchick65:

The Bezinky track sounds like Abba. You're psyching me out on so many of these today!
  Fri. 2/5/16 3:59pm Brendan:

@geezerette Bite into 'em for a *burst* of flavor!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 3:59pm KP:

Fri. 2/5/16 4:05pm Listening Out There:

I think Mohammed Ali made a record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 4:06pm JtotheK:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 4:24pm Gaylord Fields:

@djsheilab: I've been trying to figure out if any female athletes made records, and have come up short. The best bet would have been Olympics athletes, such as Nadia Comaneci or Flo-Jo. But no dice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 4:25pm Swan_Gone:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 4:27pm Swan_Gone:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 4:29pm Gaylord Fields:

@djsheilab: The closest I have is a 45 that Jean Terrell recorded as a duet with her heavyweight boxing champ brother Ernie: "Grandpa's House," on Calla.

Yeah these sexist and racists are everywhere. What to do? Expose and ostracize them whenever and where ever possible. Attack them at every turn.

Sheilab, got here just in time to hear your excellent comments on sexism in the world. My take is as follows: there is a Finite amount of psychic space for the Human Attitude. By putting the Sheilab Attitude out there, you have reduced the available space for Asshole-ism to survive. Well done and bless you. And nice Song of the Week too!
  Fri. 2/5/16 5:18pm SeanG:

oh man this is a good one
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:19pm djsheilab:

@Statoj! AMEN!! Thank you for awesome words!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:19pm listener james from westwood:

Indeed! This and "Point of No Return" were solid back in the day and still are.

@adrian: if you find it, enjoy...and then send it to me!
  Fri. 2/5/16 5:21pm P-90:

Haven't heard this Expose in years. Not bad at all, it's aged pretty well.
Avatar Fri. 2/5/16 5:21pm statoj:

I want an outfit like the Exposee lady on the right!
Avatar Fri. 2/5/16 5:27pm statoj:

That "oo LA LA" is beatle-esque
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:30pm Carmichael:

It reminded me of Cockney Rebel's "Make Me Smile". Produced by Alan Parsons, who engineered on the Beatles last 2 albums. Weird ...
Avatar Fri. 2/5/16 5:32pm statoj:

Carmichael, I did not know that! Music has DNA.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:33pm djsheilab:

@Carmichael. Alan Parsons is my hero. I've never heard of Cockney Rebel.
Avatar Fri. 2/5/16 5:34pm statoj:

M83 album cover shows 50s, 60s and 80s. No 70s? Guess they did not like disco.
Fri. 2/5/16 5:35pm Adrian in London:

Ooh, Sheila, you must hear Come Up and See Me (Make Me Smile) and Sebastian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:39pm chrissy:

Fair if fair!

  Fri. 2/5/16 5:41pm P-90:

The cognoscenti have known for years that "The Legend of Billie Jean", while not exactly brilliant, is underrated and def worth a view. (whoever the hell those "cognoscenti" are...)
  Fri. 2/5/16 5:43pm P-90:

This Benatar track is reminding me how they liked to record drums in the 80s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:43pm chrissy:

obv meant to say fair IS fair. duh.
Avatar Fri. 2/5/16 5:45pm Mr. Machine:

The Shangri-Las! Coolness itself. Always a pleasure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 2/5/16 5:54pm KP:

the Swans were great at Primavera
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:54pm Carmichael:

@Sheila: Steve Harley was Cockney Rebel's genius leader. If you heard the song, you'd recognize it (especially the "ooh-la-las"). debuted at #1, as did Parson's next effort, Pilot's "Magic".
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:56pm Swan_Gone:

Thanks fer gettin' me through another work day!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:56pm listener james from westwood:

Always a blast! Thanks, Sheila!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:57pm Carmichael:

And Harley returned the favor by singin on I Robot ("The Voice").

Oh, and Lesley Duncan sang on Parson's Eve. What a tangled web ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 2/5/16 5:58pm The Contessa:

Thanks!
  Fri. 2/5/16 6:00pm P-90:
