Avatar 3:42pm βrian:

Not The Last Gauloise in Paris, then?
  3:45pm SeanG:

hahaha Clay
  3:48pm Neneh:

With this song, I can imagine being in a run down old industrial building that leaks and I am being held captive by a psychopath who is about to saw me in half
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm northguineahills:

I was picturing the same thing, but put in an infinite bouncy castle.
  3:50pm Neneh:

Have I been ruined by TV/film?
Avatar 3:50pm cory:

only in half? what an underachiever. #DreamBig
  3:50pm Brainiac:

The first thing i remember, I’m running through a field of tall grass — it’s night, autumn, and the grass is on fire. I am running toward the woods. The woods are on fire! Behind me a creature with a face too hideous to gaze upon like Barney Fife playing bongos is gaining on me and threatens to consume me. Ahead the flames and smoke are inescapable, so I plunge headlong into the fishing hole.

The scene changes and I am in a Persian courtyard full of languid veiled concubines. One of them offers me the mouthpiece of the elaborate hookah she holds. After I exhale a cloud of cloying smoke, her veil slips down revealing her face is that of a camel. She brays loudly and says my soul is now hers. Now Barney Fife himself enters the room and places me under arrest.

…and that’s my dream about the Andy Griffith Show.
  3:51pm Neneh:

Oh Brianiac....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm northguineahills:

*now whistling the Andy Griffith Show theme song* (goddamnit!)
  3:54pm Neneh:

Brainiac, were you, perchance, one of those guys who holed up in a wildlife refuge in Oregon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Carmichael:

Heya Fab and faithful.
  3:59pm Neneh:

I'm back in the circus, emptying the gumball machines....
  3:59pm Ned Wiki:

Coolest comments.
  4:00pm Neneh:

There's a big truck backing up towards me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm northguineahills:

Crackers, I have to go out and venture out into the open again. Thanks Fabio!
  4:04pm Neneh:

I jumped in a pothole and grabbed the undercarriage of the truck as it went by. Now I am on my way to God knows where, holding on for dear life but dropping some gum balls
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Devin B.:

Any Robert Ashley fans around here?
  4:07pm Neneh:

God, this robe is so heavy....

Avatar 4:11pm V Priceless:

this piano riff is Koyaanisqatsi-esque
Avatar 4:13pm βrian:

I like Robert Ashley. And I like that he was an Ann Arbor boy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm JtotheK:

hi everyone.
  4:15pm Polyus:

Hammered dulcimer?
Avatar 4:16pm βrian:

(Or is that Afternoon Blender?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Devin B.:

Right on Brian! Regarding the Ann Arbor connection, I just read that Ashley tried to get Iggy to perform with his ensemble at some point. His final opera is at the Kitchen tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday. Recommended!
  4:17pm Neneh:

a musical voyage--merci!!!
  4:20pm Foghat? Foreigner? Little Jim's!:

Don't forget
  4:25pm Neneh:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Greg from ZONE 5:

The Phibes movies are good, clean fun!
Avatar 4:27pm cory:

that's easy for you to say fabio
Avatar 4:28pm glenn:

not the terry fox that ran halfway across canada on one leg, i assume?
  4:28pm Neneh:

I thought Vincent Price's best role was in that one made for TV movie...
Avatar 4:30pm cory:

my favorite vincent price role is in maiden's mark of the beast
Avatar 4:30pm Cecile:

that sounds awesome. I like it where there are whole musical worlds that exist outside American pop culture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Greg from ZONE 5:

Gotta go with Edward Scissorhands. What a perfect note to go out on.
Avatar 4:31pm glenn:

vincent is obviously at his finest in hilarious house of frightenstein.
Avatar 4:31pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Night Porter = great one.
Avatar 4:32pm Cecile:

ITA with Greg.
Avatar 4:32pm βrian:

Haven't seen but have heard a lot of noise. And Charlotte Rampling!!
Avatar 4:32pm Cecile:

and then tons of freaky stuff transpires.
Avatar 4:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Streamed Night Porter again recently via Fandor channel on th'Roku. Hadn't seen it in decades. It holds up.
Avatar 4:34pm Cecile:

Fabio, I will accept whatever terrible taste you have.
Avatar 4:35pm V Priceless:

'Farewell My Lovely' was great, too, w/Mitchum doing Philip Marlowe.
  4:35pm Sharon G:

Zardoz - OMG - long time since I heard THAT movie title. Who could POSSIBLY resist Sean Connery running around with hair down to his backside and wearing a red diaper?
  4:35pm Neneh:

The movie set in Vienna sounds awesome.
Avatar 4:35pm Cecile:

Fabio: "That movie about a guy who had a newspaper? and a sled?"
Avatar 4:35pm Cecile:

I kid because I love.
Avatar 4:36pm βrian:

@Cecile: Oh? When's the last time you saw the Enigma of Kaspar Hauser? Fabio talked me into that one. Oy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Nardo:

I need to see I Knew Her Well also. I'm in love with Stefania Sandrelli.
  4:36pm Pete:

Gah... wah?
Avatar 4:37pm cory:

chariots of mire?
Avatar 4:37pm Cecile:

this is awesome.

I haven't seen that movie, Brian. I probably would hate about 1/3 of the movies he likes right out of the box.
Avatar 4:37pm Cecile:

But he can campaign for anything he likes.
Avatar 4:38pm Chris from DC:

Waiting for the I Know My Cat Is An Alien collab.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm paul b:

This version of "Chariots of Fire" is like I imagine Cthulhu's walk-up music might sound like
  4:39pm Polyus:

Running in slow motion right now.
Avatar 4:40pm Cecile:

either that or this:
  4:47pm Wilbur twinhorse:

Fabio, 'The Verdict', 1982 directed by Sidney Lumet, and starring CR as well as Paul Newman. (in one of his best performances), and James Mason!! is very good as well.
  4:52pm Neneh:

I'm in a cave, in Wisconsin, and I just took a hit of that weed that that guy said I should avoid--oh no, I have to lie down.
Avatar 4:53pm cory:

@chris from dc, how do we make this happen?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Lewis:

OK - i'm back, got a bit distracted by @Cecile's youtube pointer...
Avatar 5:01pm Chris from DC:

Don't know Cory, but I endorse it.
  5:04pm Neneh:

This might be one of my fave song titles ever.
  5:20pm Guy Walker:

Whatever is playing behind you: the first notes of Aphrodite's Child, End Of The World, or Peter Green's instrumental called,
Avatar 5:21pm cory:

@guy, it's h. tical
Avatar 5:21pm Alejandroool:

that Chariots of Fire made me giggle
Avatar 5:22pm cory:

  5:22pm Neneh:

Fantastico show Fabio, grazie!
  5:23pm Guy Walker:

Yeah, just reminds me of the progression, but not Peter Green, it is...someone else. I have to think
Avatar 5:23pm Cecile:

throwing toasters around.
  5:27pm Guy Walker:

Yeah, it is an early Fleetwood Mac instrumental ascending progression line, but without reference material I no longer can pull the name of the thing out of my head anymore.
  5:41pm Brainiac:

I awaken with the reedy cry echoing in my brain: “Citizen’s ah-RAY-est! Citizen’s ah-RAY-est!”
which is strange, because Barney is dressed in full uniform and brandishing his gun.

But it’s a dream, so whatever.

Interesting side note: Ernest T. Bass was once suspected of being the Antichrist.
  5:42pm Brainiac:

@Guy Walker You mean Albatross?
Avatar 5:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

WHOA. Stepped away from the 'phones for a second and Trevor comes on. Failure.
Avatar 5:43pm cory:

ALL HAIL THE DARK LORD... are you sure this is right? okay. ahem, ALL HAIL THE DARK LORD ERNEST T. BASS.

Avatar 5:51pm Cecile:

(I know it's not, but sometimes early Bee Gees had bad lyrics)
Avatar 5:52pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Any love for Hormel canned chili?
Avatar 5:58pm Cecile:

Yes! They were bad, and I remember the jingle.
Avatar 5:59pm Cecile:

Ken, I have to be in the right mood. I like canned coney sauce better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm dale:

underwood deviled hammmmmmmmmm...
Avatar 6:00pm Jeff:

What's Coney sauce? Is that some version of chili-dog goo?
Avatar 6:01pm Cecile:
