Irwin came down with Trumpitis or something like that?
Avatar 3:09pm brandon says:

hey todd! listening in from the Panache office in Brooklyn
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Maybe some needle injuries from the Iowa cactus?
  3:14pm Listener Robert:

I sure hope Irwin's just hung over.
  3:15pm JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: Stop mocking the Iowa cactus! Without a barefooted fight against the Iowa cactus, how would we ever know who our next leader would be? The puncture wounds are a sign of strength!

  3:25pm Listening Out There:

Finally. I got to see how "Boozoo Chavis" was spelled. This is an accomplishment...
  3:26pm berbo:

you'll have that video, right?
  3:26pm Dean:

Aw, shit. Bob Elliott died.

  3:29pm Listening Out There:

er, "Write if you get work..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats...that's Bob Elliot from "Bob and Ray" and the father of comedian/actor Chris Elliot. He was 92.
Avatar 3:35pm northguineahills:

Oh, that Louis Innis is a rerelease. I like old rockabilly like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Parq:

My favorite Modern Lovers album, and maybe my favorite track from it - the last part of what I call the summer day trilogy.
Avatar 3:40pm northguineahills:

I only have a Jonathan Richman cassingle someone gave me in high school before I knew who he was. It took WFMU to bring me o'er to that side....
Avatar 3:42pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

How about these Georgia Hubley vocals on this Tortoise track?!!?
Avatar 3:42pm northguineahills:

Crao, I'll have to get this new Tortoise....
Avatar 3:42pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Parq:

Dean: Aw shit indeed.

From the just-posted obit on the Good Grey:

Wally, whose reports always began a split-second late (“...ly Ballou here”), was a self-promoter, but a modest one — he was known to introduce himself as “radio’s highly regarded Wally Ballou, winner of over seven international diction awards.” His interview subjects (all played by Mr. Goulding, of course) had even more to be modest about than he did. They included a farmer who was plagued with bad luck, even though his crop consisted of four-leaf clovers, and the owner of a paper-clip factory whose idea of efficiency was paying his workers 14 cents a week.
  3:48pm riff randell:

The old Toddger!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Parq:

The team’s ersatz advertisements included exhortations on behalf of the Monongahela Metal Foundry (“Steel ingots cast with the housewife in mind”), Einbinder Flypaper (“The flypaper you’ve gradually grown to trust over the course of three generations”) and Height Watchers International.
  3:51pm Dean:

They were Firesign avant la lettre. Not that their routines were ever in French.
  3:52pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

Loved the Georgia/Tortoise track!
  3:53pm ashley morey:

Here I am at work, ready to tune into my favorite client's radio program, which I turn on only to be met with this ridiculousness. Justin Morey rock?! Who does that dude think he is?!
Avatar 3:54pm Marc Francis:

It feels weird to hear Todd-o-Phonic Todd's voice and not be daydrunk.
Avatar 3:55pm brandon says:

Completely understand Marc
Avatar 3:56pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Marc Francis: I feel the same way!
Avatar 4:00pm Miss Mailas:

@MF It's still "day" for another hour. You've got time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Stevel:

Parq: Great representation of the Bob and Ray's output. Good to read their stuff, perfect to hear it. The deadpan delivery sealed the deal on the most ridiculous stuff.
  4:01pm P-90:

Daydrunk, nightdrunk, morning drunk, it's all the same to me...
Hi T.o.P Todd and regular Chusidiots! Was this a scheduled fill-in or a last-minute deal? Not that it matters much, the tunes are great either way, I just hope Irwin wasn't over-excited by all that hot Iowa caucassing action.
Avatar 4:02pm Marc Francis:

Still day + some Old Style in the fridge....
  4:13pm Listening Out There:

Nice eclectic program here, Mr. T. Am enjoying it...
  4:13pm riff randell:

I just got that Dalton cassette. The tambour of her voice is chills.

Avatar 4:35pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Fred R: Someone has to!
Avatar 4:36pm Miss Mailas:

Todd, I can only speak for myself and MF, but rest assured that when we say that your show lends itself perfectly to a leisurely afternoon of drinking, it is the highest of compliments.
Avatar 4:37pm Miss Mailas:

P.S. I am at work right now and therefore sober.
Avatar 4:37pm brandon says:

  4:39pm Listener Robert:

Bob Elliot was one of those people you had to keep reminding yourself was still alive, because you would've heard for sure if he died, which he just did. Even when he played on "Get A Life", they came to him in NY for his scenes rather than making him travel.
  4:40pm Listener Robert:

The only reason people liked Sarah Silverman's show was that they'd never seen "Get A Life".
  4:41pm Listener Robert:

We had Bert & Harry Piels coasters.
Avatar 4:46pm glenn:

is he singing cheese puff?
Avatar 4:47pm glenn:

*Everything* by Arthur Lee & Love. Their 1st album shows how they slot right in between TheBYrdS (Bryan MacLean a roady of theirs?) & the doors (both residencies @ the Whiskey?) in Los Angeles - both chronologically & stylistically. So - that's GarageRawk, FolkRawk, ProtoPsych, even LoungePop in there...important & distinctive sturff...
Green grass pokin' thru in NewHampshuh in early Feb. - yup...
Avatar 5:04pm Miss Mailas:

This version of California Dreamin' is A++!
Avatar 5:05pm glenn:

well, you're hardier folks than we are.
Avatar 5:06pm glenn:

besides, if there's no winter in quebec, there's no maple syrup in the spring.
Avatar 5:07pm Marc Francis:

Glenn: I am definitely not. Still a newbie to this land of weird weather. Yesterday it was raining and warm but people were driving their trucks and fishing from their huts on the frozen river. So odd!
Avatar 5:08pm Miss Mailas:

And no cabane à sucre parties, which is by far the best aspect of this whole maple syrup racket.
  5:09pm brandon says:

I forgot you were at Baby's Todd! I remember saying hi to you now
  5:10pm Tommy:

We usually harvest a lot of syrup here in Sullivan co NY , but this year does not look good

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Mike East:

thanks for making it nearly impossible for me to get any work done this afternoon
  5:55pm DG:

Tom Petty did indeed cover "Change the Locks," on the "She's the One" soundtrack album (although I don't know how much of that music is in the film). An under-rated album; he also covers Beck on it.
