Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey there, Liz. What warm songs do you have in the studio today?
Avatar 12:06pm Dr. Goot:

Good Afternoon Liz et al!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Liz Berg:

Greetings Ken, Dr. Goot, and all other ears in my range, great to have you here on this blustery day!
  12:12pm Mark R:

Liking the trippy sounds today, Ms. Liz...
  12:14pm Rasmus Maria R:

Hi, and thanks
that first track Boyle, can't find anything on it (label etc.) on interweb
  12:16pm Andy the painter:

driving guitar instrumental!
happy new year, liz
  12:16pm Pete L:

hi Liz - love this - Jahzzar (?) inst - will check on FMA thank u
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Liz Berg:

@Rasmus Maria R: Boyle is a bit of a mystery... this is their site:

But it's pretty cryptic. Maybe try the wayback machine for that URL? They are from La Crosse, WI, and they list their e-mail as boylesoundartgallery@yahoo.com
Avatar 12:23pm Risky:

almost make me want to cry... beautiful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm Liz Berg:

Painter Andy, Pete L, Risky: happy new year and great to see you here! Let's make 2016 a winner!
  12:25pm Rasmus Maria R:

thanks, looking into it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm steve:

hey people. is it cold enough for ya
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm doctorjazz:

Hi-fun moog (or is it video game sound?), liked the Jahzzar as well (at work, in and out of radio range but these were fun to hear).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm sphere:

hello people :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Liz Berg:

Doctorjazz, Rolemusic's song was a chiptune... the glitchy-minded snag the sound chip from an old gameboy or old arcade game and hack it into their own musical setup so they can manipulate the sounds with knobs and other effects. Pretty cool!
  12:44pm Mark R:

Loved it, Liz--seemed like the soundtrack for an instructional video or something stupid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Liz Berg:

There are a group of chip musicians out there who exclusively use the sound chip from the Commodore 64, and those tunes are pretty wild/cheesy/great.
  12:47pm Mark R:

Ahhh! This sounds like that nightmare where you're like at a carnival and these puppets come alive or something (TMI?)
Avatar 12:49pm Cheri Pi:

Happy New Year Liz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Liz Berg:

Fist bump, Cheri!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm doctorjazz:

Just loving this stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm doctorjazz:

If I had an extra life, could have fun in the Free Music Archive...
Avatar 12:59pm Chris from DC:

Yay, Ar-Kaics.
  12:59pm Mark R:

PMS and the Moodswings is a pretty good name for a band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Liz Berg:

I was just thinking of making a list of all the menstruation-themed bands that exist: Tampax, Menstruation Sisters... I know there are more.
  1:09pm Mark R:

You'd think they were just trying to shock us!
  1:09pm Polyus:

There used to be a band in my town called Menstrual Tramps. Unfortunately the name was the best part.
  1:10pm Mark R:

Something about your bed music cracks me up.
Avatar 1:12pm Cheyenne:

There has GOT to be a "Toxic Shock Syndrome" band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...always that time for the Cramps...Oh too bad Polyus...
Bed music *always* makes me think Cutting Edge-era Dylan, but it's not is it...
  1:14pm Pete L:

THe CRAMPS im a genius
  1:15pm C.M:

The Yeastie Girls
  1:15pm david:

I think Heavy Flow fits the menstrual band name theme
  1:16pm Mark R:

This isn't really menstruation related, but I also laughed out loud when we got the album in the library from Bummer's Eve.
  1:16pm Pete L:

THE Light Days
Avatar 1:17pm Chris from DC:

Saw him a couple of times last year, great.
  1:18pm lisa:

Yes, Toxic Shock from Austin in the early '80s!
Avatar 1:18pm fekner:

Haha PeteL !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...menstrual humor is never P.C.
  1:22pm Pete L:

  1:24pm Pete L:

with minds like these we could be curing cancer. Or at least handicapping race horses
  1:26pm Polyus:

Blood On The Saddle?
  1:27pm Pete L:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Liz Berg:

We've got quite a list here, thanks for playing everybody! High score! Of course, keep 'em coming if you can think of other menstruation-themed band names.
  1:28pm Polyus:

Sorry Liz, you can't unring a bell.
  1:29pm C.M:

Red Tide
  1:29pm BILLYSAY10:

The Bloodthirsty Lovers - David Shouse is probably best known for fronting The Grifters
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Liz Berg:

I'm not unringing the bell! I want more if they're out there! Just impressed with the responses, so many bands I've forgotten about or never even heard of to begin with.
  1:31pm Pete L:

guess which one is fictitious
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm doctorjazz:

Gee, I thought we were talking about the club for really high IQ's all this time...

Thanks Clay, happy 2016 to you, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...okay - Love: 'She Comes in Colors'...
  2:10pm Terry Trump:

Maybe The Moody Blues is pushing the concept. It's the best band name I could come up with on my own.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Webhamster Henry:

Oh yeah, Casio PT-20 drums!
Avatar 2:16pm Joe McG:

A bit late for this, Liz, but Todd had a group on his show a few weeks back called PMS and the Mood Swings. Do they count?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Liz Berg:

Joe McG, PMS and the Mood Swings started this whole thread earlier (I played one of their songs)!
  2:18pm Clinton hensley:

Hello, Liz. Just tuned in on this balmy 34 degree afternoon in VA.
Avatar 2:21pm Joe McG:

Oops, late to the party! :)
Avatar 2:23pm Joe McG:

There was a group called the Period Pains from the UK. They did "Spice Girls (Who Do You Think You Are?)": www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Grok-o-matic:

hilarious. I knew I recognized this. I was working and listening and then went to get coffee and for some reason Sympathy For The Devil was stuck in my head. And I was wondering why it was stuck in my head. Then I started listening again and realized it was a really strange and somewhat vague cover.
Avatar 2:25pm drewo:

Happy New Year Liz! Thanks for all that you do for WFMU and beyond. Here's hoping that 2016 is a big year for the WFMU family.
  2:25pm Polyus:

Last two songs were really dang good.
  2:26pm Pete L:

really like Moterheads version of sympathy on last LP - todd o phonic played it - badass
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Liz Berg:

Thanks so much, drewo! Appreciate the warm wishes! Right back at 'cha!
