Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm steve:

guess i'll have to finally listen to the original Hotline Bling then...
Avatar 3:39pm Cecile:

the only thing I understood in your last comment, Scott, is Conlon Nancarrow.

Steve, I didn't make it through the original video, but the SNL parody was great.
Avatar 3:39pm Music à la Coque:

Bravo Scott, Ottima Selezione !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Matt from Springfield:

Ha, "if Drake was born a piano".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Scott Williams:

@steve, the only thing it's got going for it is the Timmy Thomas sample. Otherwise it's dumb as wood
Avatar 3:40pm Cecile:

wood is like Einstein compared to Drake.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Scott Williams:

grazie, Music à la Coque!
Avatar 3:41pm Mdurek:

ahoy all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm steve:

ok i watched 10 seconds of the video, muted. yup, dumb as wood. though i realize its the video James Turrell had to issue a statement denying involvement, which makes it all worth it.
  3:47pm Polyus:

whipping a nae-nae sounds kind of dangerous. does the nae-nae whip back?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Matt from Springfield:

Dillo is a good musician, whatever he's doing here is catching my fancy.
Avatar 3:56pm Cecile:

I looked up nae nae, and got Ellen DeGeneres lip-synching to "Bitch Better Have My Money" which was totally worth it.
Avatar 3:58pm Cecile:

she also did the "Theme from Mahogany" from a cross-legged position on the floor. With really crazy eyes. It was pretty damn good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm steve:

ahh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Matt from Springfield:

We now return to Aaron Dilloway's track, already in progress!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm Matt from Springfield:

  4:10pm Ike:

Oops Cecile, I wasn't able to respond to yr Flash-Arrow comment earlier. I saw last year's. Crossovers on TV usually don't work (e.g. Homicide-Law and Order, bleh) but those were fun.
Avatar 4:11pm Cecile:

They were fun ,weren't they?

Yeah, Law and Order didn't have Homicide's writers and you sure could tell.

  4:23pm Ike:

Wow, that's the first Orbison song I've ever liked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Matt from Springfield:

So does this mean all of the Travelling Wilburys have released anti-war songs?
--Dylan ("With God On Our Side"/"Masters of War")
--George ("Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)")
--Jeff L ("Boy Blue", Wiki says this is one)
--Petty (he's got to have at least one, anyone know of it?)
Avatar 4:26pm Sandy:

Hi Scott! happy almost new year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Matt from Springfield:

Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly" is said to be his anti-war statement on Gulf War I. So there ya go!

HANY, Sandy! A great 2016 to you and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Matt from Springfield:

Yes, thanks for directing this 90s DB cut to my/our attention!
  4:54pm Polyus:

Stop playing such great music. I have to go into work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Matt from Springfield:

@Polyus: The time for "critical re-evaluation" of decades-old catalogue tracks...is NOW!

Hi RRN63, rich and sweet holiday goodness on the playlist today, the carbs are worth it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thurston Moore's favorite Beatle. Impressive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Scott Williams:

Hey Mike East! Tanx alot
Avatar 5:33pm dale:

nice sounds here.

i ws watching fritz lang's metropolis on pbs back in the 70s and it had a score like this bianchi and i was blown away. about a year later i saw it was on again and settled in and the score was ragtime piano. they really were careless with public domain masterpieces back then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Mike East:

Thurston Moore was recently in here playing with Yoko AND Yo La Tengo....unfortunately on my day off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Scott Williams:

I got to see Yoko w/ YLT as her backing band at Union Pool a year or so back!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 5:37pm Marcel M:

Great show today Scott
Avatar 5:38pm Cecile:

TVBC & Paul Metzger also did some nice work for films.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Mike East:

@TDK60 - they rented our backline for that gig. My buddy got to be a tech for it and saw the show from side stage...said it was pretty great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...their Metropolis : www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Matt from Springfield:

@dale: I know certain people compose scores for specific silent films, and many modern (1970s-after) composers have done versions for Metropolis. You prob saw a special airing backed with someone's special score for Metropolis. Then the next time they just played the standard "public domain" clitter-clack soundtrack since that's what comes with.
Avatar 5:41pm Cecile:

Didn't Metropolis also have a cheesy rock music soundtrack in the 80s?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Matt from Springfield:

Mellotrons??! Oh fux yeah!!
Totally downloading this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Mike East:

@Cecile - Giorgio Moroder did one, and included a bunch of pop artists of the day. It was not as bad as I had been led to believe.
Avatar 5:42pm Chris from DC:

I would so love to have a mellotron.
Avatar 5:43pm Cecile:

that's the worst kind of praise. "Not as terrible as I had heard"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Linda Lee:

lovin the sounds today Scott! perfect for this early-dark evening. thank you!
Avatar 5:43pm dale:
