Good morning Marty and everybody, thanks for setting of the day with the JBE!
  9:04am Marcel M:

Morning Marty and friends.
Avatar 9:07am Chris from DC:

Friday. That is all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am Ken From Hyde Park:

The dark night of the soul gives way to the Godfather of Soul. Very sneaky. Well played, Marty!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am MD:

Avatar 9:33am bobdoesthings:

help me rap on my micro-phoney ... wow..
Avatar 9:33am PKNY:

"Pizza, zita and macaroni/help me rap on the microphone-y" might be the worst rap I've ever heard. And that's coming from someone who owns the Mr. T rap album.
Avatar 9:34am PKNY:

All I got to say is: if all of the "rap music is a fad that will die" people from 80s had only heard that Richie Scott record and no other hip-hop...I wouldn't blame them for thinking that.
  9:42am Brent:

You going to Teenage Jesus tonight?
Avatar 9:48am bobdoesthings:

I want to re-listen to that richie scotti to see if he happened to also rhyme his name with almond biscotti
Avatar 9:53am PKNY:

@bobdoesthings - or manicotti!
Avatar 9:55am bobdoesthings:

@pkny - hah!
Avatar 9:59am PKNY:

@Marty - please tell me someone gave you that Richie Scotti record for free. I'd feel bad if you spent any loot on that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06am Guido from Cologne:

hello people!
Avatar 10:06am Marty McSorley:

i dont remember where i got it. but radar records has a lot of weird/cool break records. breakin in space is my fav.
Avatar 10:10am PKNY:

Never seen any Radar Records stuff in my travels, had to check Discogs and I don't recognize any names:

  10:16am SeanG:

  10:19am ?:

Love song for a Kanadian.
Avatar 10:21am bobdoesthings:

cool strings in this track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am Greg from ZONE 5:

Morning, gang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22am MD:

Diggin the set MM...Thanks!
  10:23am Marcel M:

Awesome set
Avatar 10:25am bobdoesthings:

I'd say this set is about average... but Marty's average is excellent
Avatar 10:29am Rev. Turnip Druid:

'mornin, troops.
Avatar 10:29am Rev. Turnip Druid:

...ricochet... i see i've come at the right time...
  10:32am Ike:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35am MD:

Tangerine! There used to be a late nite synth DJ on FMU who got me into these guys...Rob I think his name was...this was like back in '86 or '87...OF THE LAST CENTURY!
Avatar 10:35am SheWolf:

This is fantastic!
Avatar 10:36am Marty McSorley:

this is a live record on top of it.
Avatar 10:37am Marcel M:

@Bob: I bet you say that to all the boys! ;-)
Avatar 10:38am Rev. Turnip Druid:

This TD gets a regular spin at Druid Towers, at least monthly.
Avatar 10:41am Chris from DC:

I can see why.
Avatar 10:44am bobdoesthings:

@marcel - :p
Avatar 10:45am Cecile:

Avatar 10:45am PKNY:

It's El-P on the production for Nonphixion, right? And props to Away from VVVOOOOOOIIIIIVVVVVOOOOODDDDDD on the artwork.
Avatar 10:47am Cecile:

hi, SheWolf! All!
Avatar 10:48am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am common:

back for a few minutes. hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48am Barney Grubbs:

discogs says Necro on the Nonphixion production. I forgot about how enjoyable that late 90s paranoid style was.
Avatar 10:48am Cecile:

I am so happy they gave Away credit. Excellent.
Avatar 10:51am bobdoesthings:

hmmmm why does this (my sexual dad track) sound so familiar!?
Avatar 10:53am Cecile:

Avatar 10:53am SheWolf:

Hi Cecile. Happy Friday!
Avatar 10:54am Cecile:

you know it. What a week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...mosh !...
Avatar 11:00am Cecile:

Avatar 11:02am Roberto:

Cancelling all plans for the next five minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...now it would be - all I wanted was a Monster drink...
Avatar 11:02am Rev. Turnip Druid:

always a flashback record, this.
Suicidal was my first show (first LP era) -- scary damned pit. My skinny teen brain was a-sploded.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am common:

same here, roberto.
Avatar 11:02am Cheyenne:

I had a dream that they did a Pepsi commercial and sang an alternate version of the song where he DID get a Pepsi.
Avatar 11:03am Cecile:

it says something that this song still speaks to me at 54 as much as it did at 22.
Avatar 11:03am Cecile:

Cheyenne, that is that best dream ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Stevel:

Cecile: Agreed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

They *are* crazy. Probably voting for Trump fergawdsake...
Avatar 11:04am Cecile:

all I wanted was a 4 Loko.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04am common:

  11:04am jon:

Institutionalized !!! I love the version Belinda did with the hoof and mouth symphonia years ago ... Unfortunately I can't find it on the web site ... Any chance it could be dug up ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Joshua K:

Whoah when did the website get a facelift? I haven't been paying attention.
Avatar 11:08am Cecile:

2 wks ago. It's OK. I went into Bruegger's today and tried to order a softwich and cream cheese - they had been discontinued for 2 years!
Avatar 11:09am Rev. Turnip Druid:

My local pub no longer offers the spicy beans & rice as a side with their falafel. Just discovered this last night. Not like change. NOT LIKE.
  11:09am Ike:

What the frack is a softwich?
Avatar 11:10am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Digging the slug. Wasn't familiar with this project back then.
Avatar 11:12am Cecile:

somewhere between bread and a bagel. It's good for people with slight gluten sensitivities (my husband) and TMJ problems (me). I guess they just went with bread instead of that stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12am Barney Grubbs:

Slug was seemingly unavoidable in LA back then. Good thing they were entertaining.
  11:12am Ike:

@turnip, does D.C. have radically better-tasting gourmet falafel vs. 10-15 yrs. ago? Because NYC sure does. No need to suffer eating that cardboard Mamoun's shit anymore.
Avatar 11:14am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ike: Amsterdam Falafel is a local MUST. The place I'm referring to offers an acceptable falafel, but that one is more about convenience. And beersies.
  11:20am tommy t:

Avatar 11:21am Cecile:

hey, I reviewed this Pink and Brown for Your Flesh a million years ago.
Avatar 11:23am Rev. Turnip Druid:

heh! Cecile: didn't realize you wrote for that one. I've probably got some old issues somewhere...
Avatar 11:23am Cecile:

I think I was writing for them between 2002-2006. I forget.
Avatar 11:24am Cecile:

It wasn't my best work.
Avatar 11:24am Chris from DC:

  11:27am this guy:

damn. This set, too much caffeine, and turf toe is a bad combo. uncontrollable foot tappin/stompin
  11:38am Robin:

Ha -- This is the 2nd time I've seen Jackie Mittoo tracks mis-labeled on WFMU playlist. WFMU's copy of this LP, like my own, must have the labels on the wrong sides of the disc. That was actually "Something Stupid" wasn't it? Who cares, the whole thing is good.
  11:40am Robin:

Eh, maybe I'm wrong about that. I'll stop trying to be Mr Smartypants.
  11:43am Neanderthal Head:

Hey, good stuff this. Chicano Batman will be at Levitation in Austin in the spring.
Avatar 11:45am Cecile:

Avatar 11:45am Cecile:

marty, have you ever seen Nina Flowers do La Lupe? I only have on YouTube, love to see her in person.
Avatar 11:47am bobdoesthings:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am JtotheK:

Yeah! Pow Wow!!!
Avatar 11:48am bobdoesthings:

AHH! Thanks marty! this song gets me going

Avatar 11:54am bobdoesthings:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Greg from ZONE 5:

Thanks, Marty!
Avatar 11:57am Cecile:

Alfred told Abuela Bruce was dead. Then he shipped her off to Ras Al Gh'ul.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Joshua K:

There is a Mitsuwa in Edgewater NJ. Also H-Mart is the korean version, also pretty sweet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx Marty !
