Why thank you Mr. McG! Gone but never forgotten! :)

That 7" 78 was great audio quality, esp. for 61 years old!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/5/15 10:50am Cecile:

I like this. A little sappy, but heartfelt.

YES
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/5/15 10:51am Cecile:

whitest gospel ever. It's kind of awesome. I'd play it next to I think the Dominos doing Jacob's Ladder on my college show.
Avatar Mon. 10/5/15 10:52am Joe McG:

@Matt: Yes, not too bad!
Avatar Mon. 10/5/15 10:52am βrian:

Few folks would admit they lightly sand their 45s for that authentic sound? Try that with an mp3!

@ Mike East / Brendan: bass here too - MWSTW bass sound: I always suspected Visconti was playing a Gibson EBO or EB3 on that record, as would his successor, the superb and criminally-underrated Trevor Bolder, one of my bass-playing heroes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/5/15 10:57am Matt from Springfield:

@βrian: I think there's some app that will add a little surface noise to digital audio - but once I suggested there should be 5 settings for such an app: first play, ambient, audible, popping, and "Grooveyard"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/5/15 10:58am Cecile:

this song isn't creepy at all. Jeezus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/5/15 10:58am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 10/5/15 11:01am Ken From Hyde Park:

@MfS - Also, the app could have an option to append a few seconds at the beginning, where you'd have the sound of the needle coming to rest on the record.

Here's an interesting factoid - Bruce Milner from EM's Son lives up here near Woodstock and is a dentist with a practice called Transcenddental!

I'm thinking of compiling a list of songs sung by men referencing a more "wiggly" sexuality that's not necessarily glam rock. I've got this one, one from Ollie Halsall's Caves album, Mika's "Billy Brown"

I only wish these recording would have seen the light of day sooner. I think they will have an effect up there, but it's about 60 years too late. Those Lomax recordings saved a lot of the Southern traditional scene.
