Bab Boy! Love the way the singer's accent is employed to make "head" rhyme with "shade".
Avatar 3:07pm ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

This song makes me think of the movie "Cry Baby".

@P-90 Hey Brother. Living in a box in the forest of WV, no WIFI down by the river
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm listener james from westwood:

@Whooda, it's only the possibility of not getting a Wi-Fi signal that's keeping me from taking the iPod out to the park & reading w/ Sheila on the headphones!
Avatar 4:02pm strangesongs:

I am a curmudgeon but God Help the Girl was a pleasant movie!

Love that you're on in the afternoon!
  4:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- dig Gingerbreads making '...Heartbeat' 'heavier' ; often think making Poppier stuff 'heavier' would be kewl (Joey Ramone would unnerstan...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm listener james from westwood:

Wow, this should've been recorded formally and released. Puzzling!
Avatar 4:36pm djsheilab:

@James Isn't it SHOCKING??!!! Someone needs to record this!!!

@MattBelow Thanxxxx!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Sheila. It appears you survived your birthday events last Friday. How did things go?
Avatar 4:45pm djsheilab:

Hey @Ken! T'was a glorious birthday + I survived it. AND got some brilliant 45s as gifts : )
  4:46pm sugarwolf:

I forgot headphones (ok earbuds) so I can't listen.... :(:(
Avatar 4:47pm djsheilab:

@sugarwolf Awwwww shame!
Avatar 4:48pm djsheilab:

This song is 7 minutes long. I don't know what to do with myself!
  4:48pm sugarwolf:

The dumbest thing I ever I did was pass on seeing Kenickie in London in 98. They broke up at that show. Oops!!
Avatar 4:50pm Parq:

Oh, so this is what US girls sounds like now. I'd heard she had moved in a more, I believe the standard term is, accessible direction.
Avatar 4:50pm Claw!:

@sheila - Just nod your head all cool-like.

Avatar 4:58pm djsheilab:

Ooooh! Why thank you @Grok-o-matic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Sullivan Ballou:

woah, early Ride were quite good before they became another dull 'indie' band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm MD:

  5:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ride somehow slipped past me back then - but I love 'em now!
Avatar 5:06pm Grok-o-matic:

I recently discovered a really good girl fronted group from 1980 or so. Girls At Their Best. Been playing their song Warm Girls constantly. Also, this current song is great, has a Beach Boys vibe.
  5:08pm sharon g:

if you love bublegum pop, check out Anita Blay "Doing It Wrong" (theme song of a great BBC show called Girls)
Avatar 5:10pm Claw!:

  5:11pm JakeGould:

Turned on the radio the second “Ride” came on. Nice! Saw them twice at their peak in NYC. But when “Going Blank Again” came out, they lost me. Their direction was too twee/poppy. But their first EPs and “Nowhere”… Holy crap I love that stuff.
  5:14pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

Loving the pictures, too!

Fave Alan Parsons track, right here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I had this APP album in college!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Carmichael:

Well now, APP. Hi Sheila and fans.
  5:20pm JakeGould:

When was the last time I heard the word “persuaded” sung?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Guido from Cologne:

Well, APP at it's time put some good vocalists back on the map:
Arthur Brown, Colin Blunstone, Elmer Gantry
Avatar 5:22pm djsheilab:

Most chuffed to see APP getting some love here. They're playing this Sunday in Long Island. I can't go : (
Avatar 5:22pm djsheilab:

@Sissophonic! Countdown to Ponderosa Stomp!!
  5:22pm foofs:

The 'Hi, baby' bloke on this is like Einar to Eiko's Bjork.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Guido from Cologne:

APP waskind of ersatz Pink Floyd fro undersupplied Pink Floy fans like teen-age me. The early abums were great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Carmichael:

@Guido: Steve Harley, Allen Clarke, Chris Rainbow, Lenny Zakatek.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Guido from Cologne:

Ahh Carmichael:
Experts showing up
  5:28pm Dean:

What I heard from that particular APP was Al Stewart, "Year of the Cat," to be precise. Not vocals per se, but the production gestalt.
  5:31pm JakeGould:

@djsheilab: Chuffed? Is Gaylord Fields teaching you them fancy words?
  5:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@JakeG: It's a Britishism, yerknow...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Guido from Cologne:

Alan Parsons' productions have a very distinctive sound, not easy to capture what it exactly is. There is always some surreal floydian movie feel in the sound. even if the music itself isn't anything like this.
  5:33pm P-90:

I'm gonna get good and chuffed myself this weekend....
  5:36pm Dean:

I agree, Guido. The production quality is distinctive, but hard (certainly for me) to describe. OTOH, I don't think I would automatically guess AP upon first hearing "Dark Side OTM."
  5:36pm Joe McG:

Glad you dug it, Sheila! Ace show, as ever!
  5:37pm Cliff:

"One of my favorite bands of all time: The Alan Parsons Project." That's a phrase I rarely hear anyone say. ;)
  5:37pm P-90:

That Ethical Culture Society auditorium is a choice venue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Guido from Cologne:

Eric Woolfson: singer ?!?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Gaylord Fields:

@djsheilab: Perhaps I will join the APPAS this Sunday.
  5:40pm P-90:

Are humble listeners allowed to participate in the APP Fan fan club?
That Pink Lady Society sounded like an exclusive DJs-only affair.
Not that I'm chuffed about it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Gaylord Fields:

@djsheilab: You will be incredibly unsurprised to know it's on the top of my want list too! (I do possess the equally dreamy The Thrill Is Gone, though.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Adrian in London:

Just come in, The Contessa and I will listen to the show over the weekend. But glancing down the playlist – Ride! And Papas Fritas, haven't heard them for years.
Avatar 5:41pm djsheilab:

Yes! @Guido Eric Woolfson sang on many of their songs.
Avatar 5:42pm Todd-o-phonic:

This record is so vibrant I feel I'm hearing it in the next room!
Avatar 5:43pm Grok-o-matic:

Wow, great throwback 80s track.
Avatar 5:43pm djsheilab:

@jakeGould I lived in London for 7 years. Must've picked it up there.
  5:46pm JakeGould:

@djsheilab: Good to know! And just in time for afternoon tea!
  5:49pm JakeGould:

Also, I really can’t stop looking at the fries on that HALCALI single.

  5:52pm JakeGould:

Nice new Friday show!
  5:53pm P-90:

They do look kinda crispy and golden brown, don't they?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm sweeks:

  5:56pm P-90:

Jazz-Era Orientalism at its best.
  5:57pm JakeGould:

@listenerjamesfromwestwood: You’re in California, right? Then you can score beautiful fries like that all the time from “In-N-Out” right? Just saying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm blee:

The magician guy in the background on the Eiko Shuri is starting to get to me. Does she know this guy? Is he lurking hard? Should he even be in the shot?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm listener james from westwood:

@Jake: Oh, I wish. I'm in the New Jersey Westwood. In-N-Out is a MUST on every Vegas trip!
