Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Gonna have to tune into the archives Clay, heading to Jesus and Mary Chain in a bit. Have a good show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I hear tell the Giants play tonight instead of the usual Sunday game.

  6:12pm Linda Lee:

WSS was a stylish production.
  6:12pm Cooh John:

The problem with this world today is not enough show tunes.
  6:12pm Liam from Endor:

Hey Clay,

Was just catching up on last week's episode earlier today when I heard you talking with Diana about Denis Dunaway - who is my next door neighbor. I ran into him walking his dogs and I told
him "oh heard you're gonna be on FMU etc." and he played it all cool and was like "oh, yeah. Right."
  6:12pm SeanG:

that west side story melody is an ear worm for sure--almost sounds like a Monk lick
  6:14pm Gee Lampa:

Hello Clay and Gang.

Avatar 6:15pm V Priceless:

@ Liam - that's too funny!

  6:21pm Linda Lee:

hola melinda!
  6:22pm Fudge:

The pope is getting closer to Clay's message of peace and love. You're getting there Francis.
  6:22pm Gee Lampa:

She didn't get the memo that all those tapes are strategically mangled and edited.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm melinda:

hi Linda Lee!
  6:23pm katy:

Argh who is that crazy politician spreading lies...? If anyone did that kind of thing over here they would be completely shredded..
  6:23pm Gee Lampa:

@katy Carlie Fiorina
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Ken From Hyde Park:

What I'd love to hear next week: "Pope Francis, what's your message of peace and love to the world?"
  6:24pm Linda Lee:

Republican token female presidential candidate .. not important.
  6:24pm katy:

Ah, thanks Gee. Is she like the female Trump?

Grand Funk, the biggest American rock group of all time™
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm common:

nice, clay. 3 dog night!
  6:25pm Gee Lampa:

Disgraced in corporate America, and now selling women down the river for a moment in the spotlight.
Avatar 6:25pm david_:

Pretty much, katy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm chad from oregon:

Hey Clay! Checkin' in from the West Coast! I sure love me some Thursdays on the FMU.
  6:26pm Gee Lampa:

Worse. At least trump is honest about his disgusting racism and sexism.
Avatar 6:27pm david_:

Can't believe the next Dusty Show will be in October.
  6:28pm Gee Lampa:

Crushing and somehow, cold and distant.
  6:29pm Gee Lampa:

I thought Hardy jumped in early.
  6:29pm Linda Lee:

re trump/fiorina .. it's really about class for them both.
  6:29pm Fredericks:

This Three Dog Night was one of my first records.

  6:30pm Linda Lee:

my god who is this poor disembodied creature?
  6:31pm Linda Lee:

hola sarah!
  6:31pm Gee Lampa:

Ugly fat and stupid? Who can blame 'em?
  6:31pm JakeGould:

I think the Pope's helicopters passed over my building.
  6:31pm Gee Lampa:

The triptych of loserdom!!
  6:32pm katy:

IKR, Linda... dread. Dusty give us some warning, the prog rock stuff was just making me warm and fuzzy
  6:32pm katy:

Clay sorry. I meant Clay.
  6:32pm Gee Lampa:

Sorry, but the nature of the clip invites mockery! Dehumanizing the tragedy.
  6:33pm Tommy:

I'm changing stations...but generally your show is great
  6:33pm Linda Lee:

sorry, IKR?
  6:34pm katy:

I have some horrible feeling it is some transcript from a real person. (IKR = 'I know, right')
  6:34pm Gee Lampa:

You really kept em down on the farm with this one, Clay.
  6:35pm Dean:

Just realized that while commenting on Diane's show earlier today I referred to "Masturbation," when I meant "Sodomy."

It's a song on the Hair soundtrack.
  6:36pm katy:

I'm glad you added the qualifier... that could have looked weird Dean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm melinda:

@Dean: it's an easy mistake to make.
  6:36pm Gee Lampa:

Reminds me of Rundgren's voice on "Intro".
  6:37pm katy:

Did clay pass out on the wrong button
  6:37pm Gee Lampa:

Now it's like "As I Lay Dying"
  6:38pm Gee Lampa:

Get this kid some Mentos... STAT!
  6:40pm V Priceless:

@ Dean: correction duly noted.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm common:

very southern gothic.
  6:40pm Linda Lee:

i'm becoming depressed, Clay. please make it go away.
  6:40pm Dean:

Yeah, context is usually important.
  6:41pm katy:

The writing might be interesting but it sounds crap. Sorry I'm bailing
  6:42pm Linda Lee:

i'm with you, katy.
  6:42pm Gee Lampa:

"The Sound And The Filler".
  6:44pm V Priceless:

All I can think of is a quote from 'Full Metal Jacket': Hardcore.
Avatar 6:44pm Ultraseven:

This is so depressing
  6:44pm iris:

Are you testing us, Clay?
  6:45pm Gee Lampa:

At least he has A shot at immortality, if it was a vampire bat.
Avatar 6:45pm Jeff:

This is bumming me out bad.
  6:45pm katy:

I guess he wasn't joking when he said he had 44 percent lol. I've skipped over to FIP until its safe
  6:45pm ?:

If you don't like or understand something you should post your opinion as soon as possible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Īke:

This is disturbing, but it's a very WFMU kind of disturbing.
Avatar 6:46pm Ultraseven:

Its like a brain trapped in a robot reciting a sad memory
  6:46pm Gee Lampa:

Maybe he wins powerball at the end.
Avatar 6:46pm Jeff:

It's almost as bad as Joe Frank.
  6:47pm V Priceless:

ha @ Gee
  6:48pm Linda Lee:

not a fair comparison, Jeff! my radio's off now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm melinda:

The burning fart bit was funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Rich in Washington:

it sort of reminds me of Jesse Bernstein's Face, only more depressing.
  6:49pm katy:

Sorry. I wouldn't normally but to go from groovy upbeat Clay to a 15 minute robot telling a grim stories is a bit of a surprising shift. Joe Frank is dark without being physically painful. Maybe me ears are robotist
  6:50pm Linda Lee:

i think the dusty show has been commandeered by pope francis. it's an exercise in compassion.
Avatar 6:50pm Ultraseven:

I think its neat, in a Throbbing Gristle kind of way
  6:50pm Gee Lampa:

Now play Hot, Hot, Hot.
  6:50pm the bright side:

Listen back at 2x speed... It's the funniest thing the radio has ever given us!
  6:51pm the bright side:

The rabies!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm SeanG:

  6:51pm Linda Lee:

i think i'll go clean the cat box ..
Avatar 6:51pm slugluv1313:

awww man unfortunately i know people who have gone through stuff like this
not as EXTREME but awful horrific life experiences :(
  6:52pm iris:

@linda haw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm common:

reminded me a bit of geek love, clay. love that book.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm Ike:

It's over! It's safe for you all to come back now! ;)
Avatar 6:52pm Ultraseven:

It was neat
  6:53pm JakeGould:

What was that story? Read through text to speech?
Avatar 6:53pm tonyb:

hand raised!
Avatar 6:53pm dale:

bless you for doing stuff even you questioned. most of us don't, and we miss out.
  6:53pm ?:

If they left they probably never should have been here in the first place.
  6:54pm V Priceless:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Earlier today on Diane's show, a homeless guy chipped in some comments. I was thinking he'd be an interesting interview on The Dusty Show.
Avatar 6:54pm david_:

Mott minus Ian Hunter. Interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm SeanG:

more cowbell
  6:55pm Gee Lampa:

Proto hair metal.
  6:55pm katy:

Back, thanks for saying. Sorry man just feeling a bit fragile for bad stuff.
Avatar 6:56pm Jeff:

I've taken to turning the radio off for Irwin's Joe Frank exercises - but often mostly because the near-constant whiff of creepy misogyny plus other obsessive brokennesses in his narrator main characters has over time broken down my ability to find those stories more interesting than annoying any more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm SeanG:

that riff sounds like that Cult song
  6:56pm Linda Lee:

thing is, that wasn't a real person. not worth the trouble.
Avatar 6:57pm david_:

True glam will never die.
Avatar 6:57pm dale:

moody blues john lodge produced other bands?
  6:57pm katy:

Oh fuck off ?. Maybe some of us have reasons. Perhaps tomorrow I might be able to hack it. bUt not tonight. And if it is okay for Clay to not like the kinks, i'd say it's ok for some of us to not enjoy depressing as shit robot prose
  6:58pm Gee Lampa:

@_david I'll take "Here Come The Warm Jets" every time!
  6:58pm Gee Lampa:

How on earth can anyone not like The Kinks?!?

Misfits is a perfect track.
  6:59pm iris:

Thanks Clay
  6:59pm katy:

@Jeff. I know what you mean. But I heard a few that really gripped me. But the repetitive themes can get a much over time
Avatar 6:59pm david_:

Another brilliant show- thanks Clay!
  7:00pm V Priceless:

Thanks Clay! Fascinating as usual!
  7:00pm Ian:

@katy If you are fragile why not just turn it off instead of trying to hurt Clay Pigeon? Look at your comments.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm SeanG:

Clay! Shine on You Crazy Diamond
  7:00pm katy:

I like Musgravey Kinks. I like the folky dance hall stuff. Like Harry Rag and Alcohol, Steam Powered Trains, etc
  7:02pm katy:

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be OTT. I didn't expect it to last so long. I endured about 8 mins or something.
  7:02pm Linda Lee:

Ian, do you really think katy can hurt Clay Pigeon by giving an opinion? if so, he's in the wrong business. in any case, show's over.
  7:02pm Larry in Portland:

I dug the story clay
  7:07pm JakeGould:

Are the playlists switched? Seems mixed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Always remember 700+ people trampled in a stampede in this year's Hajj. That's crazy stuff.
  7:10pm horredgrones:

Oh, thank you Hearty for cleaning out my brain after that horrible story on the last show.
  12:15pm Special Man:
