Options Brian Turner: Playlist from September 22, 2015 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

You should be able to combine a king and a bishop to create a pope.

hawk flying overhead here .. adding spectacular vocal to this music. fantastic.
  4:30pm Brendan:

This speaks to my inner blues part of my spectrum. It says ba ba deowwww der dang dang beoww boujzzee!! To which i believe the standard reply is to strike a full split static air guitar pose and speak the holy incantation 'klatu verata jam on it!'
  4:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Hawk says: I am the Center of this Universe...
  4:36pm Brendan:

@linda I'm getting a powerful visual . I wish i could add the hawk to my current field of vision which is my living room ceiling. It would compliment the awesome tunes, powerful bong hits and requisite pint of Cherry Garcia. I'll have to look into the local constabularies regulations for a wild hawk in the house.
  4:38pm Linda Lee:

just keep the vision Brendan!
  4:40pm Linda Lee:

hold the space & Hawk flies on in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm common:

love seeing hawks. my friend had a staring contest with one recently out of her bathroom window. she went to get her phone to take a pic and looked up to see it flying away with a squirrel
  4:41pm Linda Lee:

fantastic! that must have been an amazing staring contest .. .their vision is unreal
Avatar 4:41pm fabricaguy:

Avatar 5:00pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 5:03pm fabricaguy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm common:

Avatar 5:12pm fabricaguy:

Avatar 5:12pm fabricaguy:

  5:13pm Linda Lee:

PiL 80 .. about the time i saw them in nyc .. band played 3 or 4 songs .. audience members hopped up on stage to dance .. lydon disappeared .. ha ha.
Avatar 5:15pm fabricaguy:

I bet 90's PIL and new PIL would get into a fight with that 80' PIL
  5:17pm Dean:

Saw PIL in '80, too, at LA's Olympic Auditorium, with a ton of opening acts, including Los Lobos and the Kipper Kids. Highlight was when a young kid, maybe 12, joined Lydon on stage and sang along. Got his picture in the LA Times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm common:

that is a good thing, dean!
  5:22pm Linda Lee:

kipper kids + PiL .. great!
Avatar 5:24pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Holy crap, I'd give a dozen lungs to see a Kipper Kids performance from that era.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm common:

so would i, rev. let's all get a pizza and watch forbidden zone right now!
  5:31pm Dean:

I saw the KK a handful of times back then. They were a hoot. I remember one performance at a "gallery" up a few floors in a downtown LA high-rise. Wine, cheese, everybody "Blah blah blah..." The lights dim, seats are taken, and the window explodes. The KKs enter from outside the building.
Avatar 5:34pm Cheri Pi:

  5:35pm Linda Lee:

brilliant! then?
Avatar 5:36pm Cheri Pi:

My favorite album!
  5:39pm Dean:

After the requisite spectacular entrance (one time they cut their way out of a plywood box in the middle of the room with a chain saw) there follows the singing, merriment, and mess that's typical of a KK show. Lots of whipped cream, paint, canned spaghetti, M80s, toy musical instruments, sacks of faux (one hopes) doo-doo hanging in bags from athletic supporters, razor blades... You know, the usual.
Avatar 5:39pm Cheri Pi:

Spats need to make a comeback
  5:41pm Linda Lee:

dean .. fantastic. sorry i missed them at the time! .. can't be everywhere i s'pose.
  5:42pm Linda Lee:

i was fascinated & also intimidated .. therefore should've made it a point
  5:43pm cheri pi:

Gomez NEEDS to pee on the popemobile
  5:45pm Linda Lee:

indeed. .. who will pee on the popemobile now?
  5:45pm Dean:

I'm still fascinated. I mean, one of the KK was at the time and remains Mr. Bette Midler, for crying out loud. To boot, at the time--while he was doing KK shows--he appeared regularly on local public access TV as the real life commodities broker he was in Santa Monica. It was bizarre.
  5:46pm Linda Lee:

nice. just as it should be for our media stars ..
  5:48pm Linda Lee:

i've done my share of amp schlepping .. i sympathize
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm steve:

Avatar 5:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:
