I'm kinda mystified about why, when FMU DJs play Hawkwind, they always play the mellower cuts, instead of the hardcore cuts. What's up with that?
Avatar 3:08am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

It worked as a good segue from Relatively Clean Rivers to Wolf Eyes!
Avatar 3:08am Eiderdown:

Good morning all
Avatar 3:09am Jeff Conklin:

Simon, because mellow Hawkwind is the best Hawkwind. And thanks, Adam, I think it worked nicely too ;)
Avatar 3:10am Jeff Conklin:

I think Eiderdown only checks in after he sends me new jams on his label....;)
Avatar 3:10am Eiderdown:

Damnit
Avatar 3:11am Eiderdown:

Ha, I was hoping it wouldn't come off like that. I just happen to be staying up late, getting these new tapes ready...and only an Avant Ghetto soundtrack will do
Avatar 3:12am Eiderdown:

But you do take bitcoin as payola, right???
Avatar 3:12am Jeff Conklin:

You know Im kidding, Adam...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13am pacific standard simon:

We will have to agree to disagree. For me, I could segue from "Master Of The Universe" to The Ramones' "Havana Affair" with no difficulty.
Avatar 3:14am Eiderdown:

Btw, this Wolf Eyes is amazing...it almost sounds like Hawkwind!!
Avatar 3:14am Bentangle:

Morning/afternoon/evening/void!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16am pacific standard simon:

But I'm happy here.
Avatar 3:17am Eiderdown:

It's our happy place...with our spirit animal guide, Jeff Conklin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18am pacific standard simon:

I suspect Jeff is a badger.
Avatar 3:19am Jeff Conklin:

I''m a goat
Avatar 3:19am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

Is this still not heavy enough for you Simon? ha ha.
Avatar 3:20am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

This is some super sick shredding.
Avatar 3:20am Bentangle:

It would be a happier place if the app stopped buffering.
Avatar 3:20am Eiderdown:

Both are lovable, stubborn...grey hair...yeah, I can see that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20am pacific standard simon:

Nope. Not enough power chords.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21am pacific standard simon:

I am an owl.
Avatar 3:21am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

simon, ha ha ha
Avatar 3:22am coelacanth:

greetings Jeff; vertebrates; plankton; others.
Avatar 3:22am AdamFromOldeKenzo:

My spirit animal would probably be a human ghost.
Avatar 3:22am Eiderdown:

Jeff, checks in the mail
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22am pacific standard simon:

Oooooo...
Avatar 3:22am Jeff Conklin:

Hey, coel.

Bentangle, I was having the same issues earlier this evening. Gonna pass a note to our maintenance fleet....
Avatar 3:24am Bentangle:

It's harshing my buzz.
Avatar 3:25am Eiderdown:

I've had that issue before too Bentangle...it's a bummer vibe
Avatar 3:25am Jeff Conklin:

Got a track to address the issue coming up next...
Avatar 3:26am Bentangle:

If I had a band I'd name my album DreamSnake II. Heck, i'd probably name my child DreamSnake II if I could.
Avatar 3:27am Eiderdown:

ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27am pacific standard simon:

I'd name my band "Comfort Station".
Avatar 3:28am coelacanth:

yeah well, Sue ended up not killing his father after all.
...go for it.
Avatar 3:29am Eiderdown:

Btw, Jeff, I know you are immune to peer pressure and payola...so thank you as always for your support!
Avatar 3:29am Bentangle:

Hey Eiderdown, do you draw/paint your album covers yourself? I love them.
Avatar 3:31am Eiderdown:

Thanks! Its my pal Max Clotfelter. He's a twisted genius:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31am pacific standard simon:

@coelacanth - At least he had the song for an alibi. Now he's stuck in Folsom Prison.
Avatar 3:32am coelacanth:

...with the memphis blues again.
Avatar 3:32am Bentangle:

This song is kind of a bummer ...
Avatar 3:35am Bentangle:

I shot a man named DreamSnake II, just to watch him die ...
Avatar 3:37am coelacanth:

- not on my account.
...my spirit animal is the brown recluse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38am pacific standard simon:

Amon Duul, Amon Duul II.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42am pacific standard simon:

Wow, we are so far apart on Hawkwind, it's hard to conceive...
Avatar 3:43am Jeff Conklin:

@simon Ha. We can still live in this world together...
Avatar 3:45am coelacanth:

my favorite hawkwind is the mellow, spacey stuff and the rocking, badass stuff.
Avatar 3:45am JakeGould:

PSS and JeffConklin: You two have to get along because a Hawkwind debate in 2015 could only happen here and with us… Or maybe at a record bin in some store… But still… This place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45am pacific standard simon:

Yeah. I mean as us both being fans.
Avatar 3:55am Eiderdown:

Seattle is repping hard this evening. Just got my first listen to this Hastio tape tonight a few hours ago. Nice stuff
Avatar 3:56am pierre:

Arrived on the Hastío, stayed for the Avant Ghetto.

Bonjour Jeff and all !
Avatar 3:57am Eiderdown:

Good morning Pierre!
Avatar 3:59am Jeff Conklin:

Just listened to this Hastio tape earlier as well. Very impressed!
Avatar 4:03am coelacanth:

(...but i could do without the cheesy pop hawkwind.)

bonjour pierre

- that woven skull ruled!

switching to air/radio combo so i Thank you now Jeff.
ciao y'all.
Avatar 4:13am Eiderdown:

Johnny Young's got some chops!
Avatar 4:14am coelacanth:

ps -i thought when the person expressed the desire to "hear" from you more frequently,he meant on the comment board. maybe i'm wrong, but you should do it however you're comfortable.
there are plenty of us that appreciate hour-long-sets - especially when the songs generally played are sprawling and there's a mood created. (...not that i'm unhappy with you speaking more often tonight! -just sayin'!)

peaceout.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26am Guido from Cologne:

Good morning people!
Avatar 4:27am Eiderdown:

Aaaargh, don't make me regret not buying Midden Mound!
Avatar 4:28am Eiderdown:

Good morning Guido!
Avatar 4:30am Jeff Conklin:

Hey, Guido.

Midden Mound is reeeeealy gooood. (buy the CD-R or tape, it's way cheaper)
Avatar 4:33am Eiderdown:

Yeah, the vinyl $$ stretched even my elastic wallet. I'll see if MV himself still has the cd or tape version
  4:37am tomas:

really digging the set today, thanks jeff.
Avatar 4:38am Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, tomas!
  4:46am John in Texas:

  5:19am John in Texas:

Does anyone know if Bill is related to, Steve Mackay?
Avatar 5:24am Jeff Conklin:

Not sure, John
Avatar 5:24am Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, beedeath! Where are you enjoying the morning?
Avatar 5:25am Eiderdown:

Gotta crash...beauty sleep etc. Thanks as always for the great tunes Jeff! Goodnight all!
Avatar 5:26am the Canterbury wood-elf:

I got here...better late than never.
Like coelacanth I'm on both sides of the Hawkwind fence.
Anyone who doesn't think post 70's HW is worth checking out, have a listen to the brazenly titled "LSD" of the awfully titled "Electric Teepee" (1990).
Avatar 5:26am Jeff Conklin:

Thanks, Adam. Sleep well...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44am Guido from Cologne:

half way Fahey's "Sunflower River Blues", isn't it?
Avatar 5:59am the Canterbury wood-elf:

Thanks Jeff, great stuff as always...
