Hello EFD! Last hot/nasty day of NY/NJ summer today is I hope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm efd:

I hope you're right!
Avatar 9:07pm JakeGould:

@efd: I feel like one of those old coots in Westerns going loopy for rain. Dagnabbit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Stevel:

Jus' hang in thear', young feller. Rain's a comin', sure as midnight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Stevel:

Love the loud sustained vocals by the Senate. Can't decide if they are 'good' or not. Not overly concerned by this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm efd:

I think that's a good approach, Steve.
Avatar 9:19pm JakeGould:

@Stevel: That is called being open-minded.
Avatar 9:24pm glenn:

  9:26pm yeah!!! no more heroes:

The Stranglers. Missed this show. So happy I can tune in live now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Stevel:

Hurry Up was great. Never seen them.

Great fucking set.
  9:27pm Julie:

Yay Stranglers
  9:27pm lisasongs:

No more heroes FTW
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Stevel:

Definitly need an L-7 report.
Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Lonely Planet Boy:

Love L7!
Avatar 9:37pm glenn:

double grrrrrrrrr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm efd:

I assume the double grrrrrrrrr is for my lack of enthusiasm over Warren Zevon, but what was the first one for?
  9:42pm Larry:

Warren had a lot of Colorado interests, as expressed in his song "Things to do in Denver When You're Dead."
Avatar 9:42pm glenn:

no, they're both related to the fact that the bosox are killing the blue jays.
Avatar 9:43pm glenn:

you have impeccable taste, evan. i would never grrrrr you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Stevel:

efd: Never been grrrred.
Avatar 9:44pm Todd-o-phonic:

Those Pretty Wrongs going out to Red Sox front office for signing Sandoval.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm efd:

OHHHH!!! Yeah, I'm honestly conflicted about that myself, to be honest; I'd like to see the Jays open up a nice lead in the AL East.

aw, and thank you!
Avatar 9:44pm glenn:

that said, there's a lot of good warren zevon.
Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Lonely Planet Boy:

not to worry, glenn. O's are beating the Yankees.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Ike:

Good evening, folks!
Avatar 9:47pm glenn:

true. the enemy of my enemy is my friend, especially in a pennant race.
Avatar 9:48pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Hey Ike!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm Michele:

What's up friends! Love this Pins track Evan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Stevel:

And yes, Pins are sounding great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm steve:

hey people
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Stevel:

Killer women killing the rock in this set. ROCK! (killer)
Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Lonely Planet Boy:

about 20 years ago, L7 was at Lollapalooza. After their set, they were in a side tent giving haircuts for charity. Fun times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Michele:

Hell yeah L7
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Alex of Chicago:

Riot Fest is in town, but as usual I won't be going. But if I was, I'd definitely see L7. I do appreciate the after shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Uncle Michael:

20 years ago is about when I saw L7 on Lolla.
Avatar 10:03pm JakeGould:

1990s Lollapalooza is like Woodstock to the kids nowadays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm ! I X Key !:

Avatar 10:12pm Andrew S:

Dwight Twilley Band on hozac. Nothing wrong with that at all, but was a little surprised to see it
Avatar 10:12pm glenn:

yay! o's 5, yankees 3.
Avatar 10:19pm Todd-o-phonic:

That line will never get old!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Frankipop:

I remember Blondie's first album was on Private Stock...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Frankipop:

I'm changing my name to Power Papi
Avatar 10:22pm JakeGould:

Interesting Private Stock factoid: “The label closed down when Uttal moved to London; he later returned to New York where he died in 1993. His son Jai Uttal has the rights to the catalogue, but does not have access to the master tapes as they were lost when an unpaid storage bill forced their auction.” en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm efd:

yeah, I remember trying to find out what happened with that label after they shut down and finding out about that - what a shame. Although I also got the impression from something else I read that Uttal fils wasn't really that interested in his father's legacy anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I think I just sprained my funkadiliac.
10:46pm Michael from the Left Coast:

Was there ever a better live band than Sly and the Family Stone (when they showed up, on time and not completely stoned)?
  10:46pm clinton hensley:

:) Sly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Uncle Michael:

Larry Graham's pretty badass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Stevel:

They seemed to know their way around the recording boards at the Fillmore. Great recording.

"Ya' might want to hear my organ..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm SSS:

I saw The Family Stone, with many of the original members this summer at The GrassRoots festival in central NY. They were great! Still got IT!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm efd:

well I wasn't paying attention and now we're listening to another Sly & the Family Stone song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm efd:

not that I think anyone's complaining.
10:51pm Michael from the Left Coast:

Uncle Michael, "Pretty badass"? Larry Graham is the very definition of it.
10:51pm Michael from the Left Coast:

You could play the entire Sly and the Family Stone late show and it would still rock everyone mightily
  10:52pm clinton hensley:

That's their power, my man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Uncle Michael:

Larry thought to mount a mic to his bass. That's badass.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Ken From Hyde Park:

First aid tip for treating a sprain: apply more funk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm efd:

btw Michael ftLC I owe you an email; will try to follow up tomorrow. This week has not been conducive to me doing anything but the bare minimum.
10:54pm Michael from the Left Coast:

Too hot!
10:55pm Michael from the Left Coast:

I have listened to all of them--big difference between early and late show and if I recall correctly the last show is the most different
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm efd:

I will have to check them out! The tracks I've heard on different people's shows here have been great.
11:02pm Michael from the Left Coast:

They're all great and just a bit different--if I recall the last show's set list is very different, but the other shows mostly played the same set with different feel and nuance. All of it terrific though--and was it opening for Hendrix? Imagine that!
Avatar 11:07pm Roberto:

Yay Muffs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Stevel:

Yes officer, I believe I have your Road Rocket right here!

[cue opening song] [sprays gravel on cop and car]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm efd:

I like it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Stevel:

Pretty sure I need to see Power Nap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm efd:

You may need to go to Tasmania to do that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm Stevel:

11:16pm Michael from the Left Coast:

Where's Kerbivore from? Any idea?
Avatar 11:16pm Roberto:

Indeed, best band name I've heard in a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm efd:

They're from Staten Island
11:22pm Michael from the Left Coast:

Cyro Baptista is one of the most entertaining characters you could ever see on a stage
Avatar 11:30pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Slow night, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm Ike:

Hey @Jake, yeah. I keep trying to turn off the AC but the humidity keeps coming back. And I'm wondering if I skip Colbert's 2nd Late Show episode. Last night's had serious pilot-itis. Loved him on "Colbert Report" but this is another animal entirely. Probably needs a few months to gel.
  11:44pm Larry:

"Friday, I'm in Love"--best song ever!'' Well, pretty good anyway...
Avatar 11:45pm JakeGould:

@Ike: I gotta confess. I never found Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert funny. But I was also into Letterman when he was on NBC and thought the CBS show was… Meh… And find the current crop of late night talk show hosts to be all… Meh… WHERE’S MY TUNA VOUCHER!
Avatar 11:48pm JakeGould:

Cold beet soup is borsch. Kids nowadays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm Ike:

Well, we can agree on Letterman. 12:30 a.m. gives more leeway to be weird, as Craig Ferguson did for a while. At 11:35 you have to play nice w/the network & go after a bigger audience, so Letterman got boring on CBS.
Avatar 11:51pm JakeGould:

Humidity is 81% in Bay Ridge. Rain is now supposedly happening tomorrow AM. But that kind of humidity is rain making humidity.
Avatar 11:54pm JakeGould:

@Ike: Also, 100% nobody cared about late night TV when Letterman got that show. Heck, those were the days of random late night reruns and TV stations going off the air at like 2:00am. And then at 6:00am this kind of sign on would happen: www.youtube.com... would
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm Alex of Chicago:

Fond memories of staying up past my bedtime to watch early Letterman. It definitely felt like anything could happen, even if it didn't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Ike:

Thanks EFD!
Avatar 11:59pm JakeGould:

Thank you, Evan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm Alex of Chicago:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am Ken From Hyde Park:

Good night, EFD. And Holly, wherever you are.
Avatar 12:01am JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: Yup! Holly if you read this, hope you are doing well.
