I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Hello Mayuko! I'm so happy that you have a regular slot now.
Avatar 5:15pm Mayuko:

Hello maestroso! Thank you for tuning in. I'm excited to have my own playground / lab now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, and welcome to the stream.
Avatar 5:20pm Mayuko:

Hi Ken! Thanks for tuning in! Means a lot to me to have you all with me on my maiden voyage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm KimSorise:

Welcome! Sounds great Mayuko. I will be listening and prepping for the 7pm switch over.
Avatar 5:25pm Mayuko:

Hi Kim! I'm excited to be making this Monday evening block with you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Uncle Michael:

I'm late!
Avatar 5:30pm Mayuko:

Uncle Michael!! Hallos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm Uncle Michael:

Hallo Mayuko. I will be listening till we leave for dinner. We're going to check out a Japanese place that looks like it might hold some promise (no small feat in Kansas).
Avatar 5:36pm Mayuko:

Hope you'll have a good one, Uncle Michael. And hope the place is not called Sapporo. Feels like too many Japanese restaurants called Sapporo already.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm maestroso:

With any luck I will be listening to your show with tea and breakfast next week in Tokyo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Uncle Michael:

The place was first called Shogun, then called Sakura and is now called Yuki. It's mainly sushi and a teppan grill. The sushi looks better in photographs than any I've seen here in town before...with more interesting choices and specials. I'm going with an open mind and measured expectations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Poughkeepsie station WVKR has DJ Yoko on Monday afternoons these days. Lots of Japanese influence this day of the week for me.
Avatar 5:46pm Mayuko:

ohhh! you going there for vacation or business, maestroso?? it must be super early morning there when I do my show, though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Uncle Michael:

Are you using Studio C, Mayuko? You know it well by now, eh?
Avatar 5:50pm Mayuko:

Japanese are trying to take over the world again, Ken. Taking over radio/media is a good start.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm maestroso:

@ Mayuko - I'm going for vacation! I think we're 13 hours ahead in Tokyo, correct? So your show would be 6 am Tokyo time. That's good for my jet-lagged state.
Avatar 5:53pm Mayuko:

Uncle Michael, yup I'm using Studio C, one of the CD players is still pretty tricky though. Makes me wanna smash it sometimes.
Avatar 5:56pm Mayuko:

maestroso, that's nice! hopefully the heat will get somewhat subsided by the time you'll get there (summer in Tokyo is pretty brutal.) Would be really cool to have you tune in from there and you can tell me what it's like there now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm maestroso:

Ok, I will try!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Uncle Michael:

At this moment it is sunny and raining here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm maestroso:

By the way, I'm going to see Stella Lee Jones and Imeruat perform together at Pine Star Cafe. Are you familiar with them?
Avatar 6:02pm Monica:

welcome, mayuko. enjoying your sounds. hola, UM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Her show is "Noodling With Yoko" from 3 - 4 PM. She plays music; not noodle cooking lessons. I think they have an internet stream. I sometimes listen to that station on the airwaves when WMFU isn't coming in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03pm Uncle Michael:

Hi Monica! It was a good baseball day for north-siders.
Avatar 6:13pm Mayuko:

Hello Monica! Thank you for tuning in!!
Avatar 6:17pm Monica:

so i hear, UM! just back from minneapolis/st. paul and duluth. got my midwest goin' on.
Avatar 6:18pm Monica:

flew directly over topeka a few weeks ago too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Uncle Michael:

I sensed your presence...I'm pretty sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Monica - We had a kayak trip on the Crow Wing River out of Sebeka on vacation last month.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Uncle Michael:

My pops and I will be at Wrigley for the NL Wild Card Game if we can overtake Pittsburgh. Two trips back to Chicago in consecutive years is a distinct possibility.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Uncle Michael:

Damn, Mayuko...this Strider 88 is great.
Avatar 6:24pm steve:

hey Mayuko! i heart Dreamin
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm maestroso:

What the Uncle said....
Avatar 6:25pm Monica:

@Ken, very cool. Love all the lake/river stuff up there. We went on a fishing trip on Lake Superior while in Duluth. Came back empty handed and a huge headache from bobbing around in choppy waters. Duluth is gorgeous though.
  6:25pm Doug Schulkind:

Play Vertigo with MAGNIFICO!! Welcome to the Drummer Stream, Mayuko!
Avatar 6:25pm Mayuko:

UM, it's from a synth/postpunk comp! Hey steve! I love this song too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Uncle Michael:

We're off to supper...I hope to be back for some of Kim's show...take care and congrats on a great start, Mayuko.
Avatar 6:28pm Jesse K:

Hey Mayuko and everyone, I've been listening around the house for the past hour, loving it! Sorry I missed the Sensate Focus, a personal favorite!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm sashajones:

Hi Mayuko! Just getting here, can't wait to catch up on the archives later
Avatar 6:29pm Mayuko:

Doug!!! Thanks to you!!
Avatar 6:32pm Jesse K:

Whoa, flying turns cover!
Avatar 6:34pm Mayuko:

Enjoy your dinner, UM! Hi Sasha! Thanks for tuning in! And Jesse, I love Crash Course In Science (and yet playing not the original, haha.)
Avatar 6:50pm Mayuko:

Coming up next is Global Grease with Kim Sorise! Stay tuned!! wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Doug Schulkind:

When you smash the CD player in Studio C, use the mini-sledgehammer behind the turntables. That's what it's there for!!
Avatar 6:53pm Mayuko:

haha, studio C is well-equipped!
Avatar 6:54pm Mayuko:

Thank you all for listening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm Doug Schulkind:

Be sure to wear the safety goggles if you need to use the jackhammer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Ike:

Mayuko, your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
Avatar 7:06pm Mayuko:

Ike! I do have newsletter for my job - not for the radio program, though?? Should I start one? In any case you can find it on the contact page on my website which is linked from my profile, FYI. Thanks for listening!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Mayuko - The newsletter gag is a Simpsons reference - youtu.be... .
Avatar 9:17pm Mayuko:

Oh! I'm embarrassed. Thanks for telling me that, ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Webhamster Henry:

I;m listening to the archive - wan't near a stream this afternoon, but congrats! And Youko of the aforementioned WVKR show runs a great restaurant in New Paltz that's a sushi-free Japanese noodle shop called Gomen Kudasai.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm fred:

Great first regular show Mayuko! I wish I could hear this live, but then I'd be lobbying you to have a break every half-hour instead of every hour.
I liked what you said about coming to NY and not knowing the language. In fact I came to resent being next to people speaking French or English in the subway because I understand what they're saying. When it's a language I don't understand, I can hear it as sound or music, even though I don't expect it to mean anything more interesting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm fred:

I did notice the then/previously switch happening more, but talks with Asian friends made that more confusing to me, yet very interesting. Language, culture and time seem to mix in enlightening or confusing ways. These two might be the same thing
Avatar 10:41pm Mayuko:

Thanks, Henry! Glad she doesn't call her restaurant Sapporo nor Sakura!
Avatar 10:50pm Mayuko:

fred, Thank you! Maybe not 30 min but I was thinking I should try splitting 2hrs into three sets - too soon for me to stick to only one way of doing a show. Would be nice if everybody speaks like Samuel Beckett's novel, with words repeating and switching orders and all tangled up. That would make peaceful subway ride for you.
