Greetings Nick Name and the power of repetition.
  12:05am cheri:

hello and goodnight nick!
Avatar 12:06am coelacanth:

aloha Nick and all

i'd be wise to try to sleep soon, but we'll see.
  12:06am V Priceless:

Hey Nick ! fleep!
  12:07am Nick Name:

Hey fleep! ,yes, apparently this was the blueprint for his repetition , a very early work by Reich

Hi cheri - nighty night!

hI Bronwyn Bishop!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11am Ken From Hyde Park:

I have a feeling JakeGould will be along soon. Unless Dave the Spazz' chimps worked him over. Last we heard, Jake was trying to feed them something. You don't want to be around when chimps get violent.
Avatar 12:13am coelacanth:

if he's smart,he'll stick a sedative into that cake before they eat it.
Avatar 12:17am JakeGould:

Whenever I think of Steve Reich, I think of him and Phillip Glass running their own moving company during their early years in NYC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am Bronwyn Bishop:

I wonder if they moved the same boxes over and over and over.
Avatar 12:19am JakeGould:

@KenFromHydePark: I believe the Ming vase is okay. The cake was fine as well. Chimps were accepting of the caviar, Table Talk pies and pretzel nuggets.
  12:19am V Pricelessa:

Been ok, Fish, thanx - hope things are good with ya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am Ken From Hyde Park:

@JakeGould - Good deal. Thanks for the update.

Avatar 12:30am coelacanth:

i'm convulsing a little. does that count?
  12:32am cheri:

smooth sounds, nick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33am fleep:

A lively convulsation is always welcome, fish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Nick. Wonderful show, as always.

Avatar 1:04am Kurt Gottschalk:

  1:07am cheri:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09am Īke & the Head of a Dead Ram:

Everybody always warns us about staring into the abyss, but what if the abyss starts speaking to you? Nobody remembers to warn us not to respond. Anyway, great show.
Avatar 1:10am coelacanth:

yeah,i like that folky Steve Reich. but this is the side of Steve Reich that i really get into. i always tell people that, you can ask anyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am fleep:

The power of repetition.
  1:12am rw:

Hold on... we're still on Steve Reich? Music for wah-wah pedal and reverb.
Avatar 1:13am coelacanth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am fleep:

The power of repetition.
  1:13am Nick Name:

@kurt: ha ha, yeh as Jakegould mentioned earlier, when Philip/Steve & CO were in the removal business they knocked out disco compositions , they could do it with their eyes shut, that minimalism lark just wasn't cutting it back then
Avatar 1:14am Bryce:

nah, his zydeco stuff was absolutely groundbreaking. once he got into tape stuff, he really lost me.
Avatar 1:15am JakeGould:

One of my neighbor’s plays this Steve Reich bit every few days… Just random shouting and a dog barking… It’s really amazing. Occasionally they work a helicopter into the mix which is a delightful surprise.
  1:19am rw:

Does it seem weird that I haven't received any mail for two days?
Avatar 1:21am coelacanth:

i liked his duets album. especially that song he did with Christina Angelera.
Avatar 1:24am JakeGould:

@coelacanth: The next “Now That’s What I Call Music” will be just Steve Reich jams.
Avatar 1:27am coelacanth:

Jake, who's working a helicopter into the mix, the DEA- keeping track of your neighbor with an infrared camera?!
  1:27am rw:

Oh, and speaking of mail, Nick your marathon premium arrived a few weeks ago. Really nice! That's what I call a marathon premium!

Wow. Jake, I was just typing the above when your comment appeared. Now that's what I call a confluence.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29am Ike:

  1:31am rw:

Ack! Got sidetracked there and forgot to ask, Nick is there a significance to 1979?
Avatar 1:31am JakeGould:

@coelacanth: I live in a part of Brooklyn that is a few blocks away from a highway and near a major bridge. So if there is any morning traffic issues, all the news choppers are up getting exclusive pictures of cars not moving. Thrilling minimalism!

Avatar 1:36am coelacanth:

helicopters are lovely instruments.
...on the other hand, living near an airport,as someone i'm close with did until recently, is called "too much of a good thing".
Avatar 1:41am coelacanth:

i've got the light off and i'm lying down. i may fall asleep. it's possible i don't comment while i'm sleeping.

so- Thank you Nick!
cheers mammals!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am Alejandroool:

Evenin' again all, just got in catching the last hour
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18am Alejandroool:

The Vox Repeater can emulate that helicopter sound....
  2:35am rw:

Nick, I'm out. Thanks once again and have a nice Labor Day weekend!
  2:39am Nick Name:

@rw: thx - have a good weekend too. btw- no significance to NTWICM 1979, aside from the fact that the official NTWICM series didn't start till 1983…so I'm imagining the series as it were with 82 / 79 etc...
  2:39am Nick Name:

Hello Ike
