Hey Tome. Come on in!
  10:46am KP:

Holy moly what is this
Avatar 10:46am coelacanth:

my friend Rocco had an orange crate. he knew everyone wanted to steal it.
Hey V!
Avatar 10:47am V Priceless:

hey Fish! If you wanted to score a vintage one now, it's big $
Avatar 10:48am Bill Mac:

@KP Missed this the short tune was The Scene is Now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49am Tome:

that was cool never heard a remake of that _ > bit.ly... < mothers version
Avatar 10:49am coelacanth:

i had the murray version of the pea picker,i guess. a 3-speed. it was infinitely beautiful, but didn't hold up well to ramp jumping.
  10:53am Meatfucker:

a three speed murry is worth at least one huffy mountain bike
Avatar 10:53am Bill Mac:

@Tome Monks of Doom (Camper spinoff) did a nice cover too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am Tome:

have to check that out Bill cool ,,, I'm a big Zappa w mothers fan too !
Avatar 10:56am Bill Mac:

I like Zappa a lot.- but I'm a HUGE Beefheart fan
  10:56am Meatfucker:

Scumblin around? I love it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Planet Tyler:

I love that Nikki record...
  11:14am timurf:

CT rock, baby!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am Parq:

Bill! Dang it, guy, you gotta start sending out emails announcing your fill-ins. It's my day off, but if I had known you were going to be on, I'd have gotten up earlier. Here for the last reel, anyway.
Avatar 11:17am Rev. Turnip Druid:

HA! nice. Couple of indie radio stations around here played the hell out of this Belew ages ago. Excellent flashback.
Avatar 11:17am Bill Mac:

Hey you guys! Just so's you know, I'm back on Thursday at 6am for The Long Rally.
Avatar 11:18am chromaphone:

I used to listen to this album a lot in college.
Avatar 11:19am Bill Mac:

I think I was the one playing this tune at ALL of the radio stations back then
  11:20am Meatfucker:

This kind of reminds of the sounds I make alone with a twisty straw
Avatar 11:20am coelacanth:

yes- i have to pull this album out. at the time i thought this track was the only killer on it. i may think differently now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Stanley:

Bill - it was Captain Beefheart who introduced me to WFMU waaay back. The old beefheart.com site had a link and now the all-new site has a whole page devoted to the station. Run by an Englishman called Graham Johnston, its perhaps the greatest resource for Beefheart followers. Graham is a website developer and says of the WFMU site "A lot of the website looks like crap but the shows are magic". You can check out his twitter account, too. Interesting fella.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Fran:

Reminds me that its countdown to the King Crimson UK tour in September - albeit a different Crimson court!
Avatar 11:21am coelacanth:

Avatar 11:21am coelacanth:

(...did i just type "specs?)
  11:21am Meatfucker:

King Crimson is going on tour? Thats amazingly awesome.
Avatar 11:22am Bill Mac:

I'm familiar with this guy and the site. I'll need to check up with him though
  11:23am Meatfucker:

They got any US dates, or is it only UK?
Avatar 11:24am Bill Mac:

I see Canada in November so far.
Avatar 11:24am chromaphone:

I had a radio show in college called the 6-string Smorgasbord and I would always play Belew. Don't listen to him so much anymore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Fran:

Hi Stanley!

Ages since I looked at Beefheart.com - is it still as crammed to bursting?
  11:25am Meatfucker:

Canada is close enough to Michigan, Ill be there!
Avatar 11:25am Joe McG:

Sounding great, Bill!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Stanley:

Bill - thought you would be. Reports on his twitter account that Brian Eno had Too Much Time as one of his Desert Island Discs on BBC radio.
Fran - got me mitts on tix for the KC show in Edinburgh

(BTW cleanliness was never my obsession when I was an adolescent or now for that matter)
Avatar 11:26am Bill Mac:

Tanks Joe!
  11:26am Meatfucker:

It is too, this fella is doing it well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am Fran:

Well done Stanley - I'll be at Salford
Avatar 11:29am Bill Mac:

@Stanley - Is that Clear Spot? That album is great all the way through. it's got "Big Eye Beans" on it too
decided against KC last year when they came through... hmmmm
Avatar 11:29am V Priceless:

Avatar 11:30am Bill Mac:

@V We were talking about this new box a couple nights ago right?
Avatar 11:30am V Priceless:

Yes indeed, Bill!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Fran:

By the way Stanley I am already beginning to drop hints/justification for the big KC Thraak box set coming out in October! My main argument is that I have an exact space for it on the shelf and my interior design guru says it would be perfect...it needs work!
Avatar 11:31am KP:

Pre golf Alice Cooper!
  11:31am Meatfucker:

But does it feng shui?
Avatar 11:31am Bill Mac:

Pre Groucho Alice Cooper!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32am Fran:

Bill - KC and three drummers - next time it will be King Crimson plays The Boredoms with 107 drummers minimum! That'll drown out the Fripp 'n' tonics!
Avatar 11:32am chromaphone:

I saw the Thraak tour back in the day and it was pretty intense. This guy in front of me kept singing the words to all the songs really loud though which sucked.
Avatar 11:33am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Cooper Scooper!
Avatar 11:33am Rev. Turnip Druid:

..i have no idea what i'm saying.
Avatar 11:34am Bill Mac:

@Chromaphone - What's with that anyway?
@Fran Three drummers? Not three drummers....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Fran:

Chromaphone - that would justify a kick in the nadgers of said vocalist!! I've just been tempted to deal out similar punishment at a Bevis Frond show where a young lad insisted on aerobic style dancing at the front in front of Nick Salomoan
Avatar 11:35am KP:

It's too bad every successful American hard rock band eventually becomes the joke they were originally only playing at.
  11:35am Meatfucker:

Its been that long since that? Balls
Avatar 11:35am chromaphone:

I don't think anyone said anything to him but it was such a buzzkill.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Stanley:

Fran - interior design guru. I've got one of those in my head, too. I'm after the Live at the Marquee release. Its amazing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Fran:

Yes Bill three drummers - that's like Palmer, palmer and palmer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Fran:

Oh yes Stanley - I picked that up and it is great....both from different years are as is the Guildford show recently put out!
Avatar 11:39am V Priceless:

don't miss any chance to catch this latest version of KC - the NYC show last year was a blast and a half, even WITH three drummers! Ha!
  11:39am Meatfucker:

I would ride that elevator if it played that sweet duclet tones.
Avatar 11:41am Bill Mac:

@Fran it should be quite the spectacle... as any KC show would be
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am Stanley:

Got Sun Ra and The Ex lined up this month, too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Michael:

Agree with VPriceless - I saw one of the Boston KC shows and it really was terrific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am Fran:

Yes Stanley - The Ex in Leeds for me - band not partner I hasten to add! I've seen Marshall Allen and the Arkestra 3 times in the past year so giving this round a miss - you'll love it though - top entertainment and great use of tinfoil for Blakes Seven style clothing! There's a good CD and DVD of a live show just come out - worth having!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am Fran:

Bill/all - I suspect Crimson reviews may follow in future gatherings of the Brotherhood of Mac
  11:49am Sweet Essence of Giraffe:

Wow, what a transition. Just sweet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am blee:

One can never have too much Marvin Gaye.
Avatar 11:51am still b/p:

I'm going to dig and see if I still have my What's Going On cassette TODAY.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am Stanley:

Fran - I witnessed Sun Ra the prophet himself in 84. I never recovered.
Avatar 11:53am Andy in Berlin:

Egad! I just now realized you were on!!
Avatar 11:53am Bill Mac:

Can't believe he lived 3 miles from my house and I didn't know who he was :p
Avatar 11:54am fred:

@Fran and Stanley: The Ex are always good, I never tire of seeing them. Enjoy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Fran:

Yes I respect you Stanley (envy creeping in here.....) - I never managed that! The no 9 bus from Rochdale to Saturn was taken off years before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Fran:

Yes Fred - they are and I'm sure we will!
Avatar 11:56am coelacanth:

Thanks Bill
'been a pleasure, of course!

Avatar 11:56am V Priceless:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Fran:

Have fun
Avatar 11:57am MenfussMike:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Fran:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Stanley:

Is that it? Where am I? Oh, here.
Bye Bill and everyone. It's been fun.
