Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:06pm efd:

Holly! Good to see you - if you missed two weeks in a row I would have been concerned!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm efd:

thank you kindly, JakeGould!
Avatar 9:08pm Holly in NC:

Ah, thanks efd - just tired. Will likely doze off soon - nothing to do with show quality, I assure you!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm efd:

I am going to use my powers as a WFMU DJ to fix that typo in my previous comment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm efd:

and no offense taken, I assure you back!
  9:09pm JakeGould:

@Holly: Hi there! Hope you’re doing better.

Naps are good. Except for when I fall asleep during atonal experimental shows on WMFU. Then my nap was an anti-nap.

  10:00pm JakeGould:

I don‘t want to post (on Facebook) I just want to bang on the drums all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Kat in Chicago:

Facebook complains to me all the time too. "You haven't posted to Destination Unknown in 5 days!" My show is once a week, idiots. Ooh, I like Cute Heels.
  10:03pm ?:

My favourite is please enter your phone number so we can help protect your privacy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm Kat in Chicago:

Oh yeah, don't forget to set that phone number to private or you'll have coworkers finding your FB and your rants about your coworkers. I narrowly averted disaster.
Avatar 10:06pm Andrew S:

Amazed they havent started asking for SSNs yet. Just to keep things honest.
Avatar 10:06pm Holly in NC:

Thank you EVERYONE who has been sending happy thoughts. Brief update: I'm in the last of 7 weeks of active chemo and radiation treatment, then will get a good break before surgery. Radiation is a bear, but it appears to be working :-)
  10:07pm JakeGould:

@Holly: Stay strong and stay cool. Chemo in the summer sounds not fun. But stay cool in all ways.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm efd:

thanks for the update, Holly. I know there's still a long way to go, but I'm happy to hear that there seems to be some progress. We're all pulling for you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm coelacanth:

greetings Evan and Funksters

Holly we do not coincide on the comments board often, but i too have been sending Love your way. 'Glad the treatment seems to be working.
  10:17pm clinton hensley:

Hey, Evan! Late to the show. Derek came over and we we're shootin' the breeze about captain beefheart, home remedies, and pete rose - in no particular order. We were quizzing each other on the starting line-up of the big red machine and there went an hour. Hope all is well. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Īke:

Good evening, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

Hey everybody.
  10:21pm JakeGould:

Hey Ike! You missed Pseu’s show where she was talking about eating better, avoiding gluten and macrobiotics. Not kidding.
  10:21pm herb.nyc:

(Michael Shelley is a colon?)
  10:25pm herb.nyc:

ive seen Too Much Light...; exc!!
  10:27pm JakeGould:

@herb.nyc: Your timing on the comment right after mine is a bit of colon cleansing magic.
  10:28pm clinton hensley:

Hey Holly - My buddy just completed his first surgery after radiation and chemo. Been wrestling that beast since February. He's still smiling. Thinking about you. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm efd:

hey there UM! And howdy Ike, Spatulator, herb, clinton, and coelacanth! And Andrew S!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Uncle Michael:

Console me. The Cubs winning streak didn't make it to eight games.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Uncle Michael:

Or to seven...I'm tired!
  10:35pm JakeGould:

“No Joy” is great and here is their Bandcamp: nojoy.bandcamp.com
  10:35pm JakeGould:

@UncleMichael: You like the Cubs. There there. There there. There there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Kat in Chicago:

Good live too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm efd:

sorry Uncle Michael, I've already used all my baseball-related consolations on myself.
  10:37pm JakeGould:

@KatinChicago: No Joy? Compared to the Cubs, No Joy brings it, right?
  10:38pm Joe R.:

Hey Evan - I know you've played some Milwaukee bands on the show, here's one that you might like - Tigernite.

They call their sound "glam party rock" but to me, it sounds like the kind of new wave tinged rock you might hear in late '70s AOR rock radio. Maybe like Pat Benatar when she was still playing clubs...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm Uncle Michael:

You're not celebrating the departure of Lucchino?
  10:41pm Joe R.:

And then Jaill, also from Milwaukee, conveniently comes on air :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm efd:

haha, that wasn't even on purpose Joe! I'll check that band out later this week, thanks for the link.
  10:42pm clinton hensley:

Uncle Michael - Chi Cubs 58-48. My Reds 48-56. Hope that helps a smidgen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm Uncle Michael:

Oh, I'm happy with the season. I'm just not thrilled with the night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm Kat in Chicago:

@JakeGould haha, my problem with the Cubs is not the team but their loathsome local "fans" that have ruined the formerly pleasant neighborhood around Wrigley. Never should have put lights in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm Uncle Michael:

True fact: I've never been to a night game at Wrigley.
  10:47pm clinton hensley:

Gotcha. Impressive run, indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Kat in Chicago:

@UncleMichael are you in Chicago?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Uncle Michael:

The Cubs are starting four rookies. They have a chance to be the first team to ever reach the postseason doing so. Expectations for this year are already exceeded. It's time to be a little greedy.

No Kat...from there. I was back for three games last month.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Kat in Chicago:

Oh god yes FILMSTRIPS I am plenty old enough.
  10:50pm clinton hensley:

Field-strips... Ding!
  10:50pm JakeGould:

I know what a filmstrip is… *BEEP* I actually nought a filmstrip projector… *BEEP* And some filmstrips back in the 1990s for nostalgia… *BEEP*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Uncle Michael:

"chime in" God one, Evan.
Avatar 10:51pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

The automatic beep-reading filmstrip projector (there was only one of those in our school) put dozens of elementary-school goody-goods out of work.
  10:51pm clinton hensley:

Filmstrips, rather. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar 10:51pm steve:

filmstrips were still a thing in schools into the 90s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Figgsrock:

Oh yes, I saw plenty of filmstrips.
  10:52pm P-90:

Yes, the cassette had narratiion, usually a music score, and a loud "beep" tone to cue the advance of the filmstrip tomthe next "frame".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Uncle Michael:

Filmstrips: Steampunk Powerpoint
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Kat in Chicago:

In the 90s? wow
Avatar 10:53pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Figgsrock? I showed up on the wrong night to see The Figgs (them: Friday, me: Saturday) this weekend at the Wellfleet Beachcomber.
  10:53pm JakeGould:

The Anus… *BEEP* What is it? Why do you have one? What can we learn about it through the ages? *BEEP* In ancient Mesopotamia the anus… *SNAP* Damn! It broke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm Kat in Chicago:

"Steampunk Powerpoint" lol
Avatar 10:53pm steve:

filmstrips are prime for a comeback!
  10:54pm Bootsie:

I remember watching filmstrips in the '70s, and them often getting jammed in the projectors, which were probably pretty old at that point. And the ones with the beeps were slideshows, I think. Maybe shown via carousels...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm coelacanth:

Evan - Hurricane Smith engineered at least the first couple a Beatles' albums; and produced the early pink floyd....as you thought.
  10:55pm Bootsie:

And thanks for that Cerrone earlier!
  10:55pm P-90:

There was a decent filmstrip about the urgency of avoiding "syph" and "clap".
Avatar 10:55pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

They won't come back. Someone will just come up with an app to take a shot every x seconds from your phone video and add scratches and beeps while retaining your sound.

If this doesn't exist already hipsters should go out of business immediately.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm Alex of Chicago:

Logged in just in time for The Sueves. Sorry I'm late.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm efd:

Alex, you'll just have to sit in the corner and listen to the archive later with the rest of the lateniks.
Avatar 10:59pm steve:

alright now i want a filmstrip projector
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Kat in Chicago:

We're not gonna make Alex clap erasers? Or watch filmstrips?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm efd:

Uncle Michael, I'll try to answer in more detail during your show on Friday, but I don't really harbor any ill will toward LL.
Avatar 11:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...race ya to start a band, 'Steampunk Powerpoint' & record & publish toons...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm Kat in Chicago:

@steve looks like they are pretty cheap on eBay and bulbs are there too
Avatar 11:04pm steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm Alex of Chicago:

Well I had to go google filmstrips, and as soon as I saw the images it all came back to me! Thanks @efd for jarring my memory. There totally WAS a beep with those! I was thinking of the actual films, that jammed up, broke, or sometimes melted.
