Options Brian Turner: Playlist from August 4, 2015 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Avatar 3:28pm Lopez:

Avatar 3:34pm Cecile:

Avatar 3:34pm Polyus:

Hopefully beer south of $8 per can.
Avatar 3:34pm Cecile:

I know, right, Poly?
Avatar 3:34pm Lopez:

Nanny Hell?!?! Sounds freaking amazing!
Avatar 3:35pm Cecile:

yes, that kind of sucked.
Avatar 3:36pm Cecile:

I probably saw you walk by or something. Sadly, there weren't that many people there.
Avatar 3:36pm Perpetually New Listener:

Hello all from Memphis
Avatar 3:38pm Polyus:

Seemed pretty full when we walked in, but definitely didn't feel crowded at all during Neurosis' set.
Avatar 3:38pm Cecile:

yea. I think part of it was Twins game and nightclub hell. around it
Avatar 3:41pm Cheri Pi:

Brothers of the Sonic Cloth are opening. Maybe we'll bring "tailgating" supplies JIC.
Avatar 3:42pm Cecile:

my friend was all bummed they didn't open. "Where's Tad?" he kept going sadly.
Avatar 3:42pm Cecile:

Avatar 3:43pm Polyus:

They were actually a little better live than I expected - was not really into the stuff I have heard Diane play.
Avatar 3:43pm Lopez:

Great cover indeed and a bang-up album name to boot
Avatar 3:43pm Brian Turner:

Yes it is: www.google.com...
Avatar 3:46pm PKNY:

Woo hoo, Scorpions!
Avatar 3:46pm Lopez:

Oh my god did that deliver! Ha ha ha ha hahahah
Avatar 3:46pm JakeGould:

@BrianTurner: I didn’t need to see that.
Avatar 3:47pm Polyus:

Speaking of records I love but would never want to own an original copy of. . .
Avatar 3:47pm Cecile:

I loved it. Very powerful groove. Sold me on their last album.
Avatar 3:47pm Cecile:

  3:48pm Dean:

I had a copy of this, but unloaded it at the time of the great purge. Regrettably. An utterly inappropriate cover, but good Scorpions, nonetheless.
Avatar 3:50pm Cheri Pi:

I was gonna make a pepper-cock joke but it would have been "swallowed" up by BT's post.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm common:

indeed cheri
Avatar 4:08pm Perpetually New Listener:

I heard Sam Giancana had Bobby Darin killed because Bobby dated Connie Francis and Sam wanted Connie to himself.
Avatar 4:31pm JakeGould:

How did Sam Giancana manage to give Bobby Darin sepsis? Pretty elaborate plot of you ask me.
Avatar 4:36pm Cecile:

ita, Jake Gould.
  4:40pm Dean:

Yep, England.
Avatar 4:43pm Lopez:

I knew MC Paul Barman in back in college! Blew my mind when his first album was produced by Prince Paul
Avatar 4:44pm JakeGould:

“Hey… Bobby… Don’t take your anti-biotics the next time you go for dental work if you know what’s good for you.”

Avatar 4:56pm Cecile:

Avatar 4:59pm Cecile:

they look like One Republic, but they seem to rock quite well. I'm down for my friend dragging me to the show.
Avatar 5:01pm Polyus:

I ran into Loop at an IHOP in Iowa City, I kid you not.
Avatar 5:01pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm Carmichael:

Avatar 5:12pm Chris M.:

@BT: thanks for recommending The Swimmer to me! one of the best movies i've seen in a while! totally amazing
Avatar 5:12pm Lopez:

Men/Eject is expanding minds with their rhetoric
  5:13pm Dean:

@Chris M.: That movie based on the Cheever story?
Avatar 5:15pm Brian Turner:

ruling CM
Avatar 5:17pm Cecile:

Isn't that one from the 70s? Where this guy swims in everone's pool? I've never seen it, but heard about it.
  5:17pm Dean:

If that's the movie, Cecile, then it is the Cheever story.
Avatar 5:18pm Chris M.:

@Dean yeah it is based on that
Avatar 5:19pm Cecile:

someone needs to make a backing track for this.
Avatar 5:27pm Cecile:

well, gotta go. Have a great afternoon.
Avatar 5:28pm Cecile:

that sounds INSANE. hate to leave but I must.
Avatar 5:31pm JakeGould:

So I think i missed the Decimus, “Nanny Hell” track. Is it out anywhere? I s this Bandcamp related? decimus.bandcamp.com...
Avatar 5:35pm Brian Turner:

Avatar 5:39pm JakeGould:

@BT: Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Īke:

When that Nanny Hell track came on, I just a few blocks away from Carroll Gardens, but it was too hot to get off the bus and go see if I could hear any actual screaming privileged children to compete with the ones on the radio.
Avatar 5:52pm Lopez:

I'm really digging how maxed-out the equipment was on the Frown track. Super duper blown out action!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Ike:

@Jake, if you like mangosteens (a delicious tropical fruit, not related to mango), I found a Chinese supermarket selling bags of them for only $1.99/lb. a couple blocks south of 3 Guys. Never seen a price that low before in the U.S.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm steve:

A+ scuzz action!
