This song always does it

I don't know what it does, but it does it.

Bonjour Mark R.
Avatar 6:04am cobradan:

so good. Have you heard the bardo pond version?

  6:05am Mark:

Bonjour Pierre. Welcome everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12am Guido from Cologne:

Hello good morning Mark!
TZAG everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30am pacific standard simon:

Wow, finally I find a FMU DJ who cares enough about Don Joyce and his contribution to free form radio to play a goddam death dedication!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33am pacific standard simon:

That's probably too harsh -- I'm sure there's been some attention paid. But I haven't stumbled over it yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35am pacific standard simon:

Other than this, I mean.
  6:45am dave in Vermont:

I like the way you have been mixing your show with the rain in Lamoine , Maine, USA this morning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46am pacific standard simon:

It's funny. When Ornette Coleman died, you couldn't click a show link without hearing another Coleman tribute. Yet very few shows on FMU actually play much free jazz. On the other hand, you constantly hear things on this station that derive their artistic authority from the kind of tape editing and culture jamming that Don Joyce pioneered. He was a hero to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00am pacific standard simon:

It's also funny that the picture of Evan "Funk" Davies on the front page looks like Danny Mihm, drummer for The Flaming Groovies.
  7:00am P-90:

@PSS: All points very well taken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am pacific standard simon:

@P-90 - I've taken this loss very hard, as it was unexpected. I was a regular caller to Over The Edge in the '80s and early '90s.
Avatar 7:15am duke:

@PSS Negativland has been one of my and my son's favorite artists. My son also took Don's death hard. He has been an online friend with members of the band, mostly Mark, for some time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am pacific standard simon:

@duke - I hope your son takes some inspiration from Mark Hosler's boot-strappin' artistic development.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24am pacific standard simon:

This track is so sweet -- I can hear a lot of Charles Mingus in it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35am pacific standard simon:

I still have the 45! Wouldn't sell it for anything!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am pacific standard simon:

Amusing that "45" is the term for a 7-inch record AND an automatic pistol.
  7:41am Mark R.:

Both very effective weapons!
Avatar 7:51am monodons:

What was that last song?
Avatar 7:51am monodons:

Sorry, there it is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51am pacific standard simon:

Must go to bed -- almost 5 in the morning here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54am pacific standard simon:

No, can't hang up on this track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57am pacific standard simon:

Would still like to hang the idiots who told Janis that she was too good for Big Brother.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@pss: Vicki of the Do or DIY: People Like Us program here has said she was pretty close to Don Joyce (which makes very good sense) - & was asking everyone to send him good thots right before he passed.
  8:52am Debwa:

Love your show!!
  8:53am Jack:

Mark! Thanks for playing the Firesign Theatre. Great show.
Avatar 8:55am thedunkel:

Great Show today!
  8:56pm Bernie Hafeli:

Great show, Mark! So eclectic. Really appreciated all the Firesign, "East-West", "La Bruja", "Zu Zu Mamou," etc. Ping me when you're on again. Thanks!
