Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm dale:

ooh, is maria muldaur in this or too early?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:03pm dale:

....and good evening irene....
  9:03pm Listener Robert:

Hey, I just checked & Wikipedia says Oscar Brand is still alive. I'd had one of those vague but false recollections we all tend to get that he'd died. I hope I didn't just jinx him. SOMEONE died, wasn't he.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Permission to wave hello?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Irene Trudel:

Hi dale, Robert and Ken! No, Maria was not on that one. The appearance on Oscar's show might've been their first ever. And, yes Oscar is still alive and STILL doing a weekly radio show on WNYC-AM. He gets a little more loopy as he ages.
  9:12pm Listener Robert:

Sometimes I forget that I stopped hearing someone not because they died, but just because I stopped listening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Irene Trudel:

You're not missing much with Oscar's show.
Avatar 🥁 9:16pm KP:

Hello from the sovereign nation of Savannah, Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Irene Trudel:

Hey KP! Hope it's not as sweltering there as it is here.
  9:40pm bloopy:

one of my fave MJH tracks!! :D
  9:45pm KP:

It's hot but it's a humid heat.
  9:45pm Pete Gary:

Why put down Oscar Brand. What did he do to you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Irene Trudel:

I'm not putting down Oscar.I've worked with him a whole bunch on various radio shows and special concert. I'm just sayin' He's gettin' a little out there...
  9:47pm KP:

But was on an island yesterday and the river today. Another island tomorrow; should be interesting, an isolated community.
  9:49pm JakeGould:

Hey there! Nice cool pic of water over there, Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...apprecificatin' this setness...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Irene Trudel:

Sounds nice, KP. Jake, I wish I were at that beach right now. But soon I'll be on the beach in Newport, RI. (I'm off the next two weeks for vacation.)
  9:55pm JakeGould:

Whatever beach you might be at, may it be filled with ice cubes and cool breezes.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Webhamster Henry:

Hey Irene, fill a tub with cool water and stick your feet in there - that works remarkably well!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Webhamster Henry:

I think Oscar Brand has been on since 1945 .. 70 years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Irene Trudel:

Oscar has the longest running radio show ever. I believe he holds the Guiness world record for that.
  10:18pm Peter K.:

Longest continuously running radio show with a single host. Alistair Cooke had the old record. It will be 70 years for Oscar in December.
  10:19pm Peter K.:

By the way -- great show tonight!!
  10:20pm jon:

hi irene. evening all
Avatar 10:24pm Van in DC:

Just got in... guys, Irene, hi! STEELEYE SPAN were AWESOME!!
Avatar 10:24pm Van in DC:

and I just missed SVE.. Sigh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Irene Trudel:

Ah, thanks for the correction, Peter! I knew it was something like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Irene Trudel:

Nice that you got to see them, Van!
Avatar 10:28pm Van in DC:

Irene, it was a dream come true, but a few levels less than KaTe of course. Still, it was incredible. And PACKED. Nice to see. Lots of fans
Avatar 10:31pm Van in DC:

Maddy Prior did a very nice toast as it were to Tim Hart. Very heartfelt. Very endearing. Tears.
Avatar 10:35pm Van in DC:

Like all of her songs, Just Like Blood by SVE has a story behind it.
Avatar 10:37pm Van in DC:

Oooh! Julie!
Avatar 10:45pm Van in DC:

Thanks so much Irene!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm northguineahills:

Steeleye Span! yaye!
Avatar 10:50pm Van in DC:

What a fantastically talented group! You got the violin girl singing harmony, you got the drummer playing guitar on some! Just incredible stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Irene Trudel:

Happy to oblige! Haven't played Steeleye Span for a long time. When Peter Knight was recording a solo album at my friend's studio (Mix-O-Lydian) I got to sit in and watch him play.
Avatar 10:53pm Van in DC:

After the show, I had Maddy Prior sign a CD I bought there...I told her what a dream it was of mine to see her and Steeleye Span, and I got to do it in the same year as with KaTe..her eyes lit up :)
Avatar 10:54pm Van in DC:

Wow, what an honor Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm Irene Trudel:

Excellent!
Avatar 10:56pm Van in DC:

This is new to me but I likes
Avatar 10:57pm Jeff:

Wow, this is waking up long-resting synapses. We were dressing the salad and I looked over at the radio and said, wait, is this... thinking... Steeleye Span? I even pulled Maddy Prior's name out of the cobwebby back of my brain before checking. I had a major British Isles phase decades ago, and this is a time machine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...glad this is a three-hour program...
Avatar 10:59pm Van in DC:

Love that story there Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm northguineahills:

Wow, this is making making tamales so awesome. Mr. Fox! I'm not familiar w/ String Driven thing, but nice!
Avatar 11:04pm Van in DC:

I agree - WHAT A SET!!

:)
Avatar 11:06pm Van in DC:

Johanna is terrific. Have heard a few of her things lately and have loved what I've heard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08pm Santos L Halper:

Hi Irene. I had that String Driven Thing LP; cut up the cover for wall art. Will have to pull it out if i can find it and put it on, sounded pretty good : )
Avatar 11:11pm Van in DC:

This weekend? My area!
Avatar 11:12pm Van in DC:

Thanks again so much Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm Irene Trudel:

Yes, Van. You should really check out Johanna Warren's music. I have a feeling you will love her music. johannawarren.com
Avatar 11:22pm Van in DC:

Now I know what I'll be doing this weekend, thanks Irene...

And this right here is not unlike David Russell, the never-before-played (on FMU, all the time on WETA though) classical guitarist GURU who is so awesome.
Avatar 11:37pm Van in DC:

So... it was National Junk Food Day today. Not sure about anyone else, but I did my part. Nachos. With extra jalapenos. Lots of chilli and cheese.
  11:46pm JakeGould:

Great show Irene! Tied up doing other things right now, but the show’s been a nice backdrop to the work. Kudos!
Avatar 11:50pm Van in DC:

This is perfectly done...what an ending to a splendid show from what I've heard, and so many thanks for that Irene. I'll look forward to catching what I missed tomorrow on archive.

Shout out to Sean!

Have a very splendid two week reprieve. Look forward to Julie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Jake! And thanks to all listening. I'll catch you in a couple of weeks.
  11:51pm Louis de Broglie:

I say, you've well covered the wave aspect tonight. In all fairness, in the waning moments, I'd like to see some coverage of the particle side of the theory.
Avatar 11:54pm Van in DC:

Sharknado 3 tomorrow night will have the wave aspect covered even more I expect
Avatar 11:56pm Van in DC:

MEG!
  11:58pm JakeGould:

I hope the Sharknado brings some cool breezes. There could be a storm of blood for all I care as long as the humidity goes down.
  11:58pm Ice in Brooklynth:

Thanks i
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I enjoyed tonight's sonic photons. Have fun in Newport, Irene. Looking forward to the pictures.
