Avatar 3:21pm Cecile:

I missed Crush. Okay, Scott, since you played Timebox last week, I stumbled on the Ollie Halsall solo record. I am curious about one song "Stepping Out". It was also recorded by Kevin Ayers, but I cannot find an MP3 of it anywhere on the nets. It seems to be from a record a lot of people hated. I'm just interested in hearing it because the words in Ollie's version are completely different than the Ayers version. (they're much nicer, actually)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Barney Grubbs:

as a Pasadena boy, I have to like at least one van halen track and I'm glad it's this one
Avatar 3:26pm Cecile:

I wanted to hate these guys because I was in my brief "hate hard rock" phase, but deep down I couldn't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

(Spoiler alert) I like the last lyrics where they go "Hey hey hey!"
Avatar 3:26pm MenfussMike:

they played a ripping version of this when i saw them a few years ago.
Avatar 3:27pm d¢ pät:

ah, I always hated these guys. But this minutemen cover sounds ok.

had to use Google to come up with the name of that William Castle movie - it was Homicidal.
Avatar 3:41pm Polyus:

Although that song actually turns up as early as 1978, as 'Last Night'. www.vhboots.com...
Avatar 3:42pm Cecile:

you know, "mary" in some slang circles of the time was code for a gay guy. Whenever I hear that song, it sounds like the more subversive thing ever.
  3:42pm rw:

What's R-5?
Avatar 3:42pm d¢ pät:

OH, I know...got a 14 year old daughter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Fuzzy:

Renault sold the R5 in the US as the Le Csr. Ask me how I know that.
Avatar 3:43pm d¢ pät:

Ha! No hope keeping the kids away from the edge...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm braveness23:

Awww... my daughter is about to turn 10. Does your play with Monster High crap?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Fuzzy:

Le Car, that is.
Avatar 3:44pm Cecile:

We had a Le Car for a while Fuzzy!

After hearing Imagine Dragons, I understand why kids hate rock.
Avatar 3:44pm d¢ pät:

BUT, My daughter also goes to Fort Reno shows, and goes to see the Priests when she can. So...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Mike East:

@b23 - not only does my ten yr old watch the monster high, but my 2 yr old is into it now too. My wife called it Monster Mash last night which cracked me up for some reason.
  3:45pm rw:

Oh, I took my now 19 yr old daughter to see Hillary Duff when she was little. It was a good time. She and her friend stood at the edge of the balcony and waved their glow-sticks around. Super fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Greg from ZONE 5:

UGGGGGH. EVERY song with the "way-oooh-oh-oh" choruses. It's like every song suddenly became The Misfits' "Night Of The Living Dead".
  3:45pm Janet Renault:

Le Car made the Gremlin seem like a BMW.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm braveness23:

My daughter and her BFF asked me to paint her Barbie Dream House flat black for their monster high dolls. I got's no issue with that. I made a bunch of mini posters for the goth house. Joy Division, Bauhaus, E. Neubauten, The Cure. They loved it.
  3:48pm rw:

braveness23 that sounds awesome. We were painting Nerf guns around here a couple years ago. Much cooler than Nerf yellow and orange.

  3:52pm Aaron Burr:

Hamilton? baah.
  3:54pm Cecile:

It had a good motor and was only three years old. We drove it until it got totaled
Avatar 3:57pm Claw!:

I almost peed myself, I was laughing so hard...
Avatar 3:58pm Cheyenne:

@Greg you're from (an) outer (parking) space?!! NICE
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Greg from ZONE 5:

I am from the parking zone between light and shadow, between science and superstition. It is the parking zone that lies between the pit of man's fears...and the summit of his knowledge.
  4:01pm Mahwahwah:

Nice job, Rachel. Impressive compositions and confident delivery. Good luck with your film and thanks for sharing your talent with us today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Scott Williams:

Greg's parking spot couldn't take the heat!

I am reminded of my lonely Hamilton Camp LP in near mint condition.
Avatar 4:04pm Cecile:

Claw! I'll have to take a look at it at home.
Avatar 4:05pm Claw!:

Ok, but you seriously have to watch it. DON'T FORGET.
Avatar 4:06pm fred:

I guess she's not going to play nearby, and even if she does, I'll only hear about it a month later. Scott, I'd be grateful if you could tell me if/when she plays in Paris

Glad you liked it, Mike!

Avatar 4:15pm fred:

I have no influence at all, and that's optimistic. Some influential people over here despise me enough that my recommendation would be a negative. I don't like it, but that's how it is, I'm a deadweight
Avatar 4:16pm Cecile:

Maintain the twee, I'll be back in a while
Avatar 4:17pm Cecile:

fred that would be my same position in life except no influential people know me well here enough to despise me. That's the dream, though.
Avatar 4:18pm Chris from DC:

Wish I could see that Big Blood show.
Avatar 4:25pm fred:

@Cecile: I'm sure you can do it. I'm despised by people who have influence over dozens of people. That plural may be a reach. I'm sure you can get ten people to ignore you, the dream is alive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Carmichael:

Heya Scotty, friends and zoners.
Avatar 4:26pm Cecile:

I have plenty of people ignoring me. But not actively.
Avatar 4:31pm fred:

Actively shmactively, it still counts, when it counts to being ignored, it should count double
Avatar 4:38pm V Priceless:

@ Aaron Burr - you seen your creation footage?
Avatar 4:39pm fred:

I wish I could favorite a set. There's not really a song that stands out, yet I want to fave at least one
  4:42pm Pidge:

Holy cow, Scott. This is a tremendous set. How do you resist talking? I could never do that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43pm Scott Williams:

Avatar 5:20pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 5:21pm Cecile:

oh, dear Lord, that is so sad.
Avatar 5:23pm Cecile:

and Moebius, too?
Avatar 5:25pm Cecile:

  5:25pm RenDak:

Hey Scott, actually it's done! Caleb and Colleen have been marvelous. And they SO get the picture. Starring Melissa Leo and Stephen Spinella.
Avatar 5:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

.....and this was the LP (and the track) that got me hooked, a million years ago. (news, rastakraut) ... thanks scott.
  5:30pm RenDak:

I meant the scoring work is done, not the film. A few more weeks of post.
So very sorry I'll be out of town on the 25th.
Avatar 5:31pm Cecile:

I'm really at a loss to deal with Kyoko's death. Things will go on as usual over here, nobody cares, maybe not, let's see what comes out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Guido from Cologne:

... gotta hear it in the archives ...
  5:38pm bloopy:

Nice set Scott. thanks
Avatar 5:40pm Cecile:

man, we will miss her. not enough women are making unfettered experimental music. More than before, but not enough...
Avatar 5:41pm Cecile:

damn I have to go soon, but I'll at least hear 5 minute of this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Scott Williams:

@Guido, it was off-air chit-chat
Avatar 5:41pm Cecile:

I reviewed this album for Spin online back in the day. No trace of it remains on the Internet. But they paid me. Great album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm steve:

sad news. twice i saw OOIOO at the old knitting factory in the mid 00s... they were like nothing else

Avatar 5:45pm Cecile:

ITA with everyone. Great set. calls up their spirit. RIP beautiful souls
  5:49pm a listener:

Yeah a great show this week Scott - as always. Saddened by the news at the end, was a fan of both, but these tracks are a fitting tribute.
Avatar 5:52pm fred:

As Scott McDowell said, why do we have to wait for great people to die to celebrate them?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm common:

damn just came back and heard so sad thanks scott
Avatar 5:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Moebius also contributed a hell of a lot of great graphic design/photography/illustration in the album sleeves. The Musik von Harmonia detergent bottle, the Rastakraut Pasta toothpaste, etc..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm chris:

The moon passes in front of the sun
And no one hears it
We watch from Earth
Tentative, fearful
But soon
The sun returns
And brings with it sound
Sound that will remind us of that time
When the moon blocked out the sun
Ever so briefly
RIP Moebius, Kyoko

Thanks, Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Guido from Cologne:

Thanks for the show Scott, I'll check the archives anyway, need the live set!
