I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

can you play the trap remix of Darude's Sandstorm. It's short, nuts and pretty funny.

Hello Bryce and Friday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm stefica:

Yesterday, I walked into the kitchen and thought for a minute that Bryce's show was playing. After a few minutes, I realized that it was just someone in one of the backyards using power tools.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Bryce:

hahaaaa :)
Avatar 12:38pm Chris from DC:

yay Bryce, this should help me hang in there til beersies
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm stefica:

to my great disappointment, I should add
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Bryce:

last night at work, around 2am, i thought i heard, like, a latin am radio dj going bananas over some music, way off in the distance.

turns out my brain was just elaborating some airconditioning duct noise. don't tell my doctor.

I think Sylvester Anfang II would be a great name for a pet snake.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Mutant:

I love me some Anfang!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm coelacanth:

it would...and sylvester anfang II would appreciate the exposure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Mutant:

Actually, this whole show is hitting all the right buttons
Avatar 1:45pm Cecile:

well, it's up for grabs. I'd never have a pet snake. Got bitten too much by other people's bratty pet snakes.
Avatar 1:47pm Cheri Pi:

I like the pet snakes who are cuddly but for the most part they shouldn't be pets imho because people don't care for them humanely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Mutant:

I would like to think that there was a snake named Sylvester Anfang which passed away which is why the new snake is named Sylvester Anfang II
Avatar 1:48pm Cecile:

ITA with both Cheri and Mutant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm coelacanth:

Bryce- regarding @12:39, when i moved in to where i live now,my refrigerator made sounds that for weeks i thought was several people, somewhere in the house, talking quietly amongst themselves.
once i figured it out,i decided to record it.
i put it off again & again then one day it changed- for the boring- never to return.
....one of the big regrets of my life!
Avatar 1:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ball pythons have puppy faces. I want to believe they are cuddly. PUPPY FACES.
Avatar 1:50pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Hoping this Anfang track goes another thirty-seven hours.
Avatar 1:52pm Cheri Pi:

Yes I've cuddled with a ball python, total cuddle monsters- why? They're chilly and we're warm.
  1:53pm Mark:

White Noise sounds like satanic Beach Boys. I dig it.
Avatar 1:53pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

That wasn't thirty-seven hours. But White Noise will do nicely.
Avatar 1:53pm Cheri Pi:

It'll be an Electric Storm In Hell before Cecile owns a snake.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Bryce:

hahaaa :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Bryce:

coelecanth, don't even get me started on radiators....
Avatar 1:54pm Cecile:

well, I looked them up, and the article said ball pythons are perfect for a beginning snake owner. So knock yourself out, rev.
Avatar 1:55pm Cecile:

yeah, you ain't kidding Cheri.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Bronwyn Bishop:

I love that Mark, Satanic Beach Boys ought to be the name of a real band
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm coelacanth:

ball pythons do have cute faces.

yeah,if i could go back in time i'd bring several hand-held recorders and a few hundred sd cards! ..one thing i'd get is the smorgasbord of aural pleasure that the old house i grew up in served.
Avatar 2:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Nice choice. Somehow, this one & In Gärten Pharos = my only Popol Vuh rekkids. Feels like it should be more. clearly, Kraut-slackin'...

App question, is there a free app y'all peeple use for field recording? Or is it better to carry around a separate gizmo like Quincy?
  2:16pm JakeGould:

Hello.
Avatar 2:18pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

no app here -- i carry around the trusty R05. Because I'm funny that way. But if there is an app with more wacky editing than the voice-memo thing, I'd be curious...
Avatar 2:19pm Chris from DC:

Separate gizmo. I've had a Zoom for ages, but there are many good comparably priced recorders.
  2:20pm index art center:

This is perfect art install audio :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm steve:

CP, i use a cheapo Zoom H1. im strictly an amateur with the field recordings but i like it and it always seems to get good reviews. not pro quality but good enough for most of us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Bryce:

brick city!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Bryce:

cheri, i'm in the gizmo contingent too. phone mics will just make you sad :'(
Avatar 2:25pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I should have specified Roland R05. A quick search reveals that R05 is also:

a therapeutic subgroup of the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical Classification System, a system of alphanumeric codes developed by the WHO for the classification of drugs and other medical products. Subgroup R05 is part of the anatomical group R Respiratory system.
Avatar 2:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...which won't record sheeit, i'm betting.

not with that attitude it won't

stefica: Depends on what you want to shoot. For cheap and easy, I'd try to find an obsolete cell phone with a decent image sensor. I made some time-lapse footage with an old Xperia x10a that came out pretty well
Avatar 2:41pm Cheri Pi:

thanks everyone! I'm leaning towards gizmo now, I'll be near loons in a few weeks and I want to record their morning "song"
Avatar 2:43pm Jeff:

Another solidly useful totable recorder is the Tascam DR-100 Mk. II:

tascam.com...
Avatar 2:45pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Funny; i'll be in the hunt for a new vidcam soon. The old mini-DV cam finally died (jeezus those DV tapes are expensive now) - hell, all toys are expensive now..
Avatar 2:46pm Jeff:

Bryce, you might find this amusing:

I'm pretty sure listener "123" above is the Amazon App Testing Service working the controls of a copy of our Android app running in a virtual Amazon Fire phone.

Avatar 2:52pm Jeff:

@Rev: I remain a big fan of the Panasonic "GH" series (started with the DMC-GH1, now I think on the DMC-GH4) of video-optimized micro-4/3s cameras. The micro-4/3s sensor is a good size for video (big enough for clean low-light performance, but not as demanding as using a big heavy Canon with a 24x36mm sensor), the better Panasonic lenses are quite good, some include image stabilization which works well for video, and the system can do autofocus pretty well while rolling. I'll stop now, but i could go on. Yes, I could.
Avatar 2:54pm Cheri Pi:

kawai Bryce!
Avatar 2:55pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Excellent, Jeff - thx -- i'll commence research with that. Low-light sensitivity is a must. (live music filming, mostly; everybody plays in the dark).
  2:55pm nic:
