Some TMI for the insiders: I am doing today's show NAKED!
Avatar 12:08pm DDDJJJ666:

I can mix so much faster without the drag coefficient of clothing. Except when I am doing drag.
Avatar 12:11pm DDDJJJ666:

Remember before the year 2000 when nothing sounded like this?
  12:11pm Dean:

I only count 87 strings. Fourteen of those bastards are playing hooky.
Avatar 12:12pm DDDJJJ666:

If there were a reunion concert, it would be 11 Strings and 90 Obituaries.
Avatar 12:14pm DDDJJJ666:

Now we are oscillating wildly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm JtotheK:

I once spent (close to) an hour going thru a few hundred 101 strings LPs, hoping I'd stumble across Astro-Sounds. Alas, I did not.
Avatar 12:16pm DDDJJJ666:

Give it up for Magnolia Bouvier on the keyboard, BTW. Entering info like a champion, despite the crippling reality of it being only 9AM our time, which is rudely early considering that Oregon now has legal marijuana.
Avatar 12:17pm DDDJJJ666:

I have found that Astro Sounds has been elusive since forever. Even when no one cared.

Aha, the PNW will rise again! Hello Rich!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Rich in Washington:

What if Astro-Sounds never really existed and that song was a figment of our imagination.
  12:21pm Dean:

Love that 23 Skidoo.
Avatar 12:21pm DDDJJJ666:

Now everyone close your eyes and imagine you're in a car chase. Naked.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm Doug Schulkind:

I dub you Drag Count-u-la!
Avatar 12:22pm DDDJJJ666:

Of all the Skidoos, 23 is my favorite. With the Carol Channing film being a close second
  12:23pm listener james from westwood:

Glad to catch some DDDJJJ666 while temporarily away from the work-hole!
Avatar 12:23pm DDDJJJ666:

I like any band that started out as a total noise band and became a post punk funk group.
Avatar 12:24pm DDDJJJ666:

Work holes are very stinky places, infested with ants.
Avatar 12:25pm DDDJJJ666:

Here's a song just for you LJFW
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm JtotheK:

When I looked through the hundreds of 101 LPs (which now that I think about it, might be a low estimate), it was in a warehouse of records, where 101 Strings LPs had their own entire section in an aisle, 3 or 4 rows on metal shelves. That was around 12 years ago now. I still haven't seen an Astro-Sounds 'in the wild'.
Avatar 12:26pm DDDJJJ666:

I think maybe only 101 were ever made.
Avatar 12:27pm DDDJJJ666:

I have found a couple. Always in immaculate condition. I like to think of the grand parents that were freaked out.
Avatar 12:29pm DDDJJJ666:

Well, good morning breakbeats!
Avatar 12:29pm DDDJJJ666:

I would like to think some grand parents heard this, too, and were also dispirited.
  12:30pm Dean:

Wait, is this leading up to Honegger's "Pacific 231"? Or must the number be in the artist's name?
Avatar 12:31pm DDDJJJ666:

This was what Honegger intended.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Rich in Washington:

I recently bought an LP of questionable legitimacy and it included that 101 Strings Flameout song, as well as Louis Armstrong doing Pharaoh Sanders The Creator Has A Master Plan.
I too am continually bummed that I have yet to see Astro-Sounds in the wild and that all the other various sundry 101-Strings LPs taunt me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Rich in Washington:

someone should do an all strings cover album of pre-Clash Joe Strummer songs and call it 101'ers Strings.
Avatar 12:33pm DDDJJJ666:

There's a decent percussion one to tide you over when next you go a-hunting.

Avatar 12:35pm DDDJJJ666:

If only he had a brain
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Carmichael:

If you want to stretch the boundaries of your theme, you could play Counting Crows. Or Unit 4+2.
Avatar 12:37pm DDDJJJ666:

For any spies listening, this is NOT a numbers station. If you try to perform the tasks suggested by these numbers, you will end up in a jello salad wearing only a strategically placed priest's mitre.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm JtotheK:

I'm not familiar with the decent percussion 101 strings LP. I would also check out their 'Sounds of Today' LP if I came across it for a dollar. Maybe even 2 dollars.
Avatar 12:38pm DDDJJJ666:

I will only ever count coup on Counting Crows.
Avatar 12:39pm DDDJJJ666:

Or, just get 101 by Depeche Mode.
Avatar 12:41pm DDDJJJ666:

I'm going to have a Kraut hangover

Avatar 1:07pm DDDJJJ666:

They dropped a bomb on me.
Avatar 1:08pm βrian:

Still refreshing, even today.
Avatar 1:08pm DDDJJJ666:

Although, according to the actual number of girls named in this song, B-52's are at a rather large girl defecit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Mike East:

I brought that B52's rekkid to a BBQ on Sunday, but unfortunately, it didn't make it onto the platter.
Avatar 1:10pm DDDJJJ666:

What did you listen to instead? 101 Strings records?
Avatar 1:10pm βrian:

Why, it would've been tasty with a little harissa sauce.
  1:11pm fluxmonk:

i fell in love w/ her dancing to the numbers band
Avatar 1:12pm DDDJJJ666:

By the way, there will be no Six Pence None The Richer. And we shall be richer for its lack.

This band also recorded as 0F3C4B.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Mike East:

umm...buncha reggae, tame impala, bob dylan, the band
Avatar 1:14pm DDDJJJ666:

The Numbers Band are a wonderful Ohio enigma. Though, isn't anything from Ohio an enigma (plus I just used a MBV AND Firehose
titles in a sentence.)

My impala gets too wild when ever I hear Dylan.
Avatar 1:19pm DDDJJJ666:

This Code III record does contain an inordinate amount of cursing, which I like in a Krautrock record.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm Mike East:

my bro-in-law is a bit of a dylan fanatic, so I brought it for him...he provided the pool and grill, so I figured it was the least I could do.
Avatar 1:19pm DDDJJJ666:

At least you can snorkel during the Dylan parts.
  1:20pm Dean:

Fuck inordinate cursing!
Avatar 1:22pm DDDJJJ666:

Avatar 1:35pm DDDJJJ666:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Guido from Cologne:

I missed Roky when he was in Cologne.
too bad, but i have the TeeVee-footage
  1:36pm Dean:

Thank gosh these guys didn't name themselves Gang of Shoes or Gang of Cucumbers, because if they had we wouldn't be hearing this right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Guido from Cologne:

Which version is better?
the single on FAST-Records or the LP?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Jeff Golick:

...or Gang Gang Dance. Or Gang of Susans.
Avatar 1:38pm DDDJJJ666:

The LP klingt besser, glaube ich. Aber Mann braucht doch BEIDE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Guido from Cologne:

I think the single has more energy and better sound (surprisingly)
By the way the cover of the LP shows stills from a German western movie.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Guido from Cologne:

Martin Böttcher's soundtracks usually are very smooth and soft.
But his Western soundtracks belong to his best work.
They are part of German sub-conciousness.
