Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm redkayak:

Good evening, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm melinda:

Nice mellow music! I'm enjoying the selections.
  9:25pm jon:

evening irene and fellow trudelights
Avatar 9:35pm Van in DC:

Hey there Irene.
Avatar 9:35pm Van in DC:

Olivia did I just hear? She has a Sandy Denny vibe
Avatar 9:37pm Van in DC:

Loved hearing her live last week, and also on the other show the next day
Avatar 9:40pm Van in DC:

Sandy!!
Avatar 9:42pm Van in DC:

Wow I'm so happy I wasn't five minutes later than I was...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Irene Trudel:

Hey Tome, redkayak, melinda, jon & Van. Great to have you all here tonight. Van, you're right, Olivia certainly was influenced by Sandy.
Avatar 9:44pm Van in DC:

Plus she is on Nonesuch! Wow.
Avatar 9:47pm Van in DC:

That "False Bride" reference last week by Olivia back to Sandy...wow I looked that up. Holy cow. Sandy's earliest appearance? And she was lauded big time as a talent that Alex Campbell I think it was hadn't seen in his entire career. Or something. Like, the Greatest Folk Singer Ever type of thing.
Avatar 9:50pm Van in DC:

Wow what a set.
  9:51pm Andrew:

Van, you are responsible for me missing Irene's show last week since I went to hear Samantha Fish at the Birchmere instead. Wouldn't have known about her but for your comments some time back. But I listened to the archives later, so I didn't really miss out.
  9:51pm PJ:

Thank you for another lovely program, Irene
Avatar 9:52pm Van in DC:

lol Andrew! It was sold out, glad you got in. Hope you enjoyed her! She is amazing!
  9:54pm Tommy:

Hello ?
Avatar 9:56pm Van in DC:

Hi
  9:56pm KP:

Good evening Irene
Avatar 10:00pm Van in DC:

Hope you aren't getting the thing going around, Irene. Trouble has it, I know. I've had it the past week. Feeling much better now though.
  10:01pm Andrew:

Van, she was a crowd-pleaser. Sales of albums and t-shirts were brisk afterwards. She was signing them and letting people take pictures of themselves with her. It's easy to imagine her getting too popular for the personal touch.
Avatar 10:05pm Van in DC:

Glad to hear it. I waited justthistoolong to get tickets for me and a few friends. Literally, we watched the "almost sold out" dwindle to "sold out" right in front of our eyes.

But she is well grounded I think. Sharon Van Etten is HUGE now and well grounded and still greets fellow WFMU folks at her concerts afterwords. She's awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Irene Trudel:

Hi PJ, KP and Andrew! Nah, Van, it's just crappy allergies tickling my throat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm Mark the Sardine:

How have I never heard this Led Zeppelin song before now? Thought I had heard them all. Great stuff.
Avatar 10:07pm Van in DC:

By the way, there are teaser trailers that some evil person is putting on the Youtubes of ....

....boggle...

a WORLD TOUR by...

KATE BUSH!!

I don't believe it.
Avatar 10:09pm Van in DC:

And by the way, SVE just had a new release, an EP. Pretty awesome stuff. NPR covered it.
Avatar 10:12pm Van in DC:

Here's the SVE link

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Irene Trudel:

Mike, that 3rd album by Led Zep is really different from most of the others. Has a folky edge to a number of the tunes. It's maybe my favorite of theirs.
Avatar 10:15pm Van in DC:

Always love the strings as well. Mr Walker next?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm melinda:

I liked the folky Zeppelin.
  10:19pm KP:

Andrew I fairly recently saw Mary Black at the Birchmere.
  10:21pm KP:

The first Zepplin album Is the one and only.
  10:22pm Elliot:

I don't want this track to end
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Mark the Sardine:

I'll have to listen to III sometime.
Avatar 10:22pm Van in DC:

In person, I've met exactly two FMU-related peoples: Sharon Van Etten herself, and Matt from Springfield (at a Kawehi concert in DC)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Uncle Michael:

I don't know what I'm usually doing on a Tuesday evening and I don't know why it's not this.
Avatar 10:26pm Van in DC:

Hey there Uncle Michael. Long time
  10:28pm KP:

Great John Sebastian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Uncle Michael:

Hey there, Van.
  10:29pm KP:

And it mentions the Long Island expressway
  10:30pm Lonely Planet Boy:

My Jr High school library in North Brunswick had Led Zep III when it came out. That was my first exposure. We had a cool library!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Uncle Michael:

I have turtles in my yard that I've rescued from busy streets, but not from the Long Island Expressway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm Uncle Michael:

I've lost audio.
Avatar 10:32pm Van in DC:

Kind of surprised that Ryley Walker didn't follow Wall.

I hear birds still....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Uncle Michael:

I have sound now.
Avatar 10:38pm Van in DC:

Ooooh on the fly then?

Pentangle? Cocteau Twins? Daughter? KaTe? SVE?
Avatar 10:39pm Van in DC:

Pink Floyd? Early Fleetwood Mac?
Avatar 10:40pm Van in DC:

Eliza Rickman? Marissa Nadler?
Avatar 10:44pm JakeGould:

Without Les Paul, modern music of any kind would not exist. Him and Robert Moog are responsible for a good chunk of the music world we live in.
Avatar 10:45pm JakeGould:

And… Hello!
Avatar 10:46pm Van in DC:

Nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Uncle Michael:

I miss Steve Goodman.
Avatar 10:58pm Van in DC:

Nice, again....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm redkayak:

Hey! We're seeing RT tomorrow night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm Irene Trudel:

Trying not to go down the usual paths tonight.
  10:59pm cheri:

all I can say is this is beautiful music, Irene!
Avatar 11:00pm Van in DC:

you are doing fantastic Irene. Many thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02pm Irene Trudel:

Fantastic! I know Richard's on tour. Such a great guy, and one of my guitar heroes. I happen to know he's doing a webstream for Soundcheck in late June.
  11:03pm cheri:

goodnight all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm redkayak:

I'm secretly hoping Jeff Tweedy shows up? He produced his new album, I hear....
Avatar 11:08pm Van in DC:

Decisions :)
Avatar 11:09pm Van in DC:

Will catch up on the rest tomorrow..... Many thanks Irene. Good night...
Avatar 11:14pm JakeGould:

@Irene, your pic choice tonight with the cloudy sun is really nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Jake! It's one of mine from Newport Folk Festival last year. It had been raining all day and the sun came out when Mavis Staples started to perform. An amazing moment!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- so, Mavis is like Mahalia Jackson - got a direct line to the weather controller...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24pm Irene Trudel:

I believe so, R.R.!
  11:52pm Mugsy:

Great show Irene :)
  11:56pm KP:

Great send off Irene. Thanks
  11:56pm Andrew:

Enjoyed it all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm Irene Trudel:

G'nite all. Thanks for tuning in! Catch you next Tuesday at 9.
Avatar 12:00am Jeff:

Of course, that play and mention of Loudon Wainwright III gives me the perfect opening to shoehorn in a mention that LW3 was at WFMU just a few days ago, visiting Dave Hill. It was my privilege to lurk in the studio trying to be more quiet and invisible than a mouse (a fine trick for a 6'3" man of a certain bulk) and get a few photos as my excuse to attend a semiprivate concert. Great show, wonderful selection of music, thank you, Irene
Avatar 10:39am Van in DC:

Back for the parts missed (beginning and end)
Avatar 10:51am Van in DC:

Ah, and this is the Ryley Walker... good stuff
Avatar 11:09am Van in DC:

Alright! Daniel Bachman!
