  3:13pm Listening Out There:

McCoy Tyner on...harpsichord?
  3:16pm Laura L:

Great photo of Moondog--the man in dark coat and hat could almost pass for Lemmy Caution in "Alphaville."
Avatar 3:22pm βrian:

Here's the link for the Robert Scotto book:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Stevel:

We've all been waiting for a better dead blow-fish song.
  3:23pm Listening Out There:

Next up: Bing Crosby, singing "I'm Dreaming of a Dead Blowfish"
Avatar 3:23pm Roberto:

Awww Pablow! What a cute blowfish name.
  3:24pm Tom in SFCA:

Should have gone with the Ted Cruz endorsement.

Next year, Tom.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Stevel:

Right on, Roberto!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...consequently - Pablow the Blowfish never got called an asshole...

Do I hear an echo in here?

I miss so much in life...
  3:27pm Joe B:

Pablo needed Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound!
  3:27pm zm:

  3:27pm MONEYBAG$:

Lost my blowfish 8 years ago...still miss him every day
  3:28pm Minkus:

Now THIS I can get into...sounds like the Harold Budd I was listening to this morning
  3:28pm Listening Out There:

At high velocity, Pablo's body would make a nice sound on the Wall of Sound...
  3:28pm Laura L:

I'm wondering what happened to Hootie. Didn't he have a Blowfish too?
  3:28pm P-90:

sounds a little like Dr. Phibes at the organ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Ken From Hyde Park:

In the words of Homer Simpson: "Come on, pal. Fugu me!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm Irwin:

LL: Ken is Hootie, the rest of us mere blowfish.
  3:38pm Woo:

I saw Miley do a duet with Melanie on Peace Will Come and it was very good.
  3:40pm MONEYBAG$:

is the new schedule posted somewhere?
  3:40pm P-90:

PLU returns! Joe Frank stays put! O frabjous Wednesday!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Irwin:

I'm a rare inbreed.
  3:43pm Eric:

I'm supposed to choose which genre of music I want to listen to first before I can actually hear any music, right?
Avatar 3:44pm Claw!:

Nice mashup, Man!
  3:45pm Dean:

The sickest thing about this mashup is that a former member of King Crimson plays on it.
  3:45pm SeanG:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm common:

  3:47pm Dean:

Shoot, for a second there I thought this "Xica" was gonna be another mashup with "Don't Fear the Reaper."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Reading Moondog wigkey: en.wikipedia.org...
- & noting his affinity for Native American music - atlho' if I didn't know that, I'd call what I just heard Medieval or Renaissance flavor like something by Dead Can Dance...

We do, we do.
  4:33pm Dean:

I see that Dan Bodah played a Gregorio Paniagua track following a Moondog track on 2/14/14: http://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/54493 This music and RRN63's comment above brought to mind Paniagua and, in particular, his series of Harmonia Mundi recordings recreating early musics.
  4:33pm darue:

Gygg? GoT theme slightly ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm common:

his music makes me so happy. he really was a genius.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Greg from Bloomfield:

GWER-See-OH. Also producer of the first 2 Firesign Theatre albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm northguineahills:

Yep, that's proto-Glass right there!
Avatar 4:57pm Jeff:

I'm thinking I've probably heard lots of Moondog and not even known it.
Avatar 4:58pm Claw!:

This is my favorite Moondog song. :) It makes me think of old cartoons working on a fast-moving assembly line. It's like a better "Powerhouse."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm Irwin:

Charlie Parker might be on this session; personnel are largely unknown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:59pm common:

wow, irwin! love this one! and good call, claw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm Greg from Bloomfield:

Right on, Claw!
Oh my God I love this so much.
  5:06pm jan:

Pastoral- Beautiful as are the other other tracks played. Irwin- I love your Moondog specials- all of them!
Avatar 5:06pm Claw!:

Oh, nice! This is another favorite. :) Really digging your selections, Irwin! Brilliant show.

@Robert Scotto,
what is the name of the UW musician? maybe I can dig up something about this harp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm common:

so beautiful!
  5:20pm marvin:

The best French productions of Moondog are currently being done by the great Minisym ensemble: https://minisym.bandcamp.com/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...reminded of Robert Wyatt for a second...
Avatar 5:42pm TDK60:

I still have the 1953 10-inch 'Moondog and His Friends'. Scratchy but it still plays; and the version of 'Theme and Variations' is simply hypnotic.
Avatar 5:56pm Claw!:

What an excellent program! Thanks, Irwin and Robert!
  5:57pm Listening Out There:

Great interview & thanks...
  6:16pm Katya Oddio:

  6:29pm P-90:

Felt compelled to come back just to post my opinion that this was a BRILLIANT show! An exemplary specimen of everything WFMU can be. Thanks, Irwin, Rbert Scotto, and Moondog.
  8:22pm paul:

I am getting this program in segments which repeat, which is all very lovely but it's doing my head In!
  9:02pm paul:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am WakkaWakka:

Kinda just wanted to hear the full show, but all I could get from the MP3 players was the beginning of the songs, cutoff and repeating the same sample....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am WakkaWakka:

Could you please upload the moondog show as a podcast?! Pretty please with stardust on top?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Irwin:

You're having buffering problems, Wakka, but there's nothing wrong with the archived audio. It's your internet connection. Try again later. We can't release the show as a podcast because it contains copyright-protected music.
